N-cha!

(A cookie to anyone who gets that reference)

My name's Sean, though I usually go by "Kaboom," (Don't ask why; it just happened somehow...) or some variation thereof when on the interwebs. I'm a big boy; I type out my own BBCode tags!

I work at a movie theater, so I get to see (and form "critiques" on) a lot more movies than I used to.

I'm 20 years old, and still love cartoons; my reasoning (when I need it) being that they're, for the most part, a lot better than most of the other shlock on TV these days. Ed, Edd 'n Eddy is the last great western cartoon on the airwaves these days, IMO. Ah, I miss the days of Animaniacs, Darkwing Duck, and the like...

This site seems to center around Anime (I'm not sure what gave me that impression...:eyebrow: ), so I'll give my tastes, I would guess. I'm a big fan of classic, long-running Shonen titles. My all-time favorite is good old DragonBall, with One Piece having charged its way into second place recently, and Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo comfortably in third. Quite a lineup, eh?

I don't mind a good romance or drama series from time to time, though. For example, my sisters recently convinced me to watch Ai Yori Aoshi, and I must say I loved it. But all in all, I prefer my action/adventure/fantasy/scifi Shonen. In short, if Shonen Jump USA is serializing or has promoted it, then I've probably read and liked it.

I have a distinct dislike for and lack of patience with "Anime Snobs." You know the kinds I'm talking about. The "You're not a real anime fan if you haven't seen <Insert title of trippy, 20-something-episode series about eccentric schoolgirl(s) here>; your show is teh suX0rz because <insert nonsensical, biased, uninformed, pure opinion reason here>" types. I just recently joined and started posting on Megatokyo's forum, just so I could be a shonen-defending pain in the butt to the large snob population there.

So there you have me. This seems like a nice place, and I'm intrigued as to how various manga and anime are seen through the eyes of the rest of the Christian community.

Hey there Kaboom, I hope you have a wonderful time here. And also I like alot of the same anime you do so I will be happy to see you up on the forums! And BTW your right about Ed, Edd'n Eddy. You know being the last great western cartoon. But I think The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy is the last great western cartoon. Anything after these are going to go down hill, I think.

So I hope you have a great time here. Otaku's unite!

Billy and Mandy's pretty good]the "Cartoon Cartoons"[/i]) like Johnny Bravo, Sheep in the Big City, I Am Weasel, Powerpuff Girls, and Time Squad. Wish I got Boomerang.

Anyhoo, glad to have such a warm welcome. The forum seems rather large compared to the ones I'm used to, but I'll see how much trouble I can stir up...

Also, another cookie to whoever can correctly name the character in my avatar.

MAN The Cartoon classics. I miss those good 'ol days too man. XD
Tale Spin, Pinky and the Brain, Dexter's Lab
Johnny Bravo was awesome too, and Foster's got some insane timing to it too.

PPG's ain't too bad either. *watches it....profusely. XD* I'm sorry, but they were originally called the "Whoop-*** girls" in the pilot. And if you drop a can of that and make such a cute story, I've gotta watch it.

Haha... I remember reading that. Not exactly a PG-rating-friendly title, though.

Dexter's Lab was pretty good, but the later episodes were terrible. I loved the "Justice Friends" episodes.

Tale Spin I never liked that much. Duck Tales was awesome though... I still have the movie on tape somewhere, buried away...

Pinky and the Brain was genius. But like I've discovered with my Animaniacs Season 1 box set (*hugs*), there were a lot of jokes I was too little to get back then, so I'd probably love it even more, now. I oughta pick the P&tB set(s), too...

Yeah, see I got that set for my sis, but I watch it more than she does! Good Lord. Lots of jokes I didn't get that I'm like...OMG. It's pretty crazy cuz I'm still laughing at 'em now.
I never could catch Tale Spin, but I'd always watch it whenever I could. Man...Timon and Pumba, that was out there. I never really watched that. *blink* Wait...Dexter's Lab? There were later episodes?? I don't remember those. XD I'll take your word for it.

But you remeber they came out with a movie about Duck Tales. With some genie and a lamp. Eh. I just dunno what they're doing with cartoon shows now. They're...like...displaced. XD

Well Billy and Mandy are sorta from the cartoon cartoons category. They came in on 2002. Id say thats close enough, but yeah your right. Cartoons will never be the same. Yes I do remember all those, but does anyone remember Mike, Luke, and Od? That was a funny show too, but it didn't last that long. And also you guys forgot one major cartoon cartoon Courage the Cowardly Dog! I have all the episodes on dvd.

Nah, I give up on your avatar but it does look familiar.

"All of Christian life is ceaseless worship of God the Father, through the mediatorship of God the Son, by the indwelling power of God the Spirit, doing what God commands in Scripture, not doing what God forbids in Scripture, in culturally contextualized ways, for the furtherance of the Gospel, when both gathered for adoration, and scattered for action, in joyous response to God's glorious grace."
- Mark Driscoll

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."

Yeah, it had two final seasons in 2001, like two years after the initial run ended. It had a completely different production crew, so things like character designs, writing, voices, and stuff like that were all different.
