Just like the title says...design your own anime DVD! Pick your favorite series, extras, inserts, prices, etc...

Yes, I know I've changed from my typical black typeface to blue. Change is good!

Hmm... I think an official English boxset of Miyazaki's movies would be really neat, along with a separate disc for extras (illustration galleries, behind-the-scenes stuff, etc.). ^^

I believe those exist in Japan, although I've seen TONS of bootlegs listed for a similar item made at a fraction of the regular price. Don't think it was updated enough to have even Howl's on it though.

Really? I didn't know that Japan may have one already. I should probably edit my post to say "an official English boxset of Miyazaki's films." ^^;

4 to 5 episodes per disc, all with directors commentary. You heard me. If not, interviews with the voice actors and artists would be nice.

Hm....

1) Better and more consistant pricing. In other words all 26 episode series would be one price etc...

2) Official artwork for characters mecha etc!!! And have them in high quality high res digital format so we can easily get them to our computers.

3) Plenty of episodes a disk...ie...4 or 5.

4) More comentaries by VA's. I like hearing those. (Japanese and English VA's would be cool)

5) Lots of art!! I want artwork!! Espicially of the cool machines, and cast.

6) Oh and box sets come with soundtracks!!
A nightingale in a golden cage
That's me locked inside reality's maze
Come someone make my heavy heart light
Come undone, bring me back to life
It all starts with a lullaby

Sorry to be offtopic here.

So far, just about all of the box sets for Miyazaki's movies have been bootlegs.

The bootleg box set was pass off as the Studio Ghibli Box Movie Collection and another box set called Archives of Studio Ghibli.

There is one box set called Studio Ghibli DVD Boxset has said to be limited and have a Studio Ghibli Authentic Certificate with serial number, but the box set came out of Hong Kong and I have a feeling that it could be a bootleg too.

perfect Anime DVD??? A series box set...for free!!!!! mwahahahah

But seriously...the biggest thing for me is that I think a DVD should have a minimum of 5 episodes per disc, and the number of episodes per disc should be directly related to the lenght of the series (if its more than 52 episodes, then the DVDs should have like 7 episodes per disc at least). 26 episode series should not exceed 6 DVDs IMO. My favorite extras are dub voice actor commentaries, voice actor interviews, music videos, and deleted scenes if they exist. And it would be nice if each DVD cost less than 20 dollars ^^.

A good number of episodes per DVD. Can't DVDs hold like 4 gigs!? I've had high quality fansubs that could fit on less than two discs...

Uncut and in the original format. Gotta have the wide screen.

Original voices, of course.

A good solid booklet in each DVD case. Like in Samurai 7.

Hi res images would be awesome to have.

With DVD format, due to compression differences, you begin to notice significant quality loss at approximately 2 hours of footage for a single layer DVD, and 4 hours of footage for a dual-layer DVD.

Many people feel that the quality of fansubs today is 'good enough', but the truth is that high-quality fan-subs don't even come close to the quality of properly transferred DVD video. Some people won't see a difference, but most will -- and at the same time, most won't care, because the difference is noticable, but isn't enough to ruin the experience.

Discs 5, 6, 7 have the remaining PPD episodes
Disc 8 has Spirited Away
Disc 9 has Nausicaa

I don't think I mentioned my ULTIMATE DVD yet...

It would be the Digimon season 1 boxset. Under $30, of course! Double-sided DVD's, because I really don't like the big cases for DVD's.

Audio Commentary Track on ALL the episodes from the english cast with text commentary (RE: Star Trek Movie DVD's) from the creators.

5.1 Dolby Surround Sound, of course.

250 Page booklet covering each episode from season one.

See, I'd totally roll with a big case, because I hate double-sided DVDs, and would never want my collection tainted by their existance.

Hey--double sided means you don't clutter your shelf with a bunch of disk boxes! But I can see why they aren't so popular--both sides are pretty delicate to scratches and fingerprints.

I just don't like big cases because I got the Sorcerer Hunters box set on my shelf, and it takes up the space of 3 or 4 standard DVD's. Kinda annoying and it throws off my organizational system! :mutter:

That's a price I'm willing to pay if it means single-sided DVDs.
