I really enjoyed the opening theme to the first season of Major. The animation they put to gether for the intro goes great with it.

That would be Kokoro e, by Road of Major.

The opening theme to Utawarerumono is pretty catchy too. ^_~
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Best overall:

Ghost in the Shell: SAC (first season) Inner Universe. Actually, the opening of the 2nd season is excellent too.

OK song that I can't get out of my head:

His & Hers Circumstances (You May Dream...)
Whatever the opening is for Galaxy Angel.

Sakura Taisen (Geki! Teikoku Kagekidan)
Last Exile(Cloud Age Symphony - OP)(Over the Sky)
Kodocha(1st/2nd OPs)
ROD the TV (Instrumental)
Master Keaton(OP)(love the European feel of the tune)

Oh, and I totally dig the Lupin III (78') theme... nice and sentimentally jazzy.

i think bleach's first opening *~Asterisk~ is good (the full version is weird)

but as far as theme songs go, including the visuals, bleach's 3rd opening ichirin no hana is pretty darn cool

I don't really have a favorite opening, but my favorite ending is "Lithium Flower" from Stand Alone Complex. And now that I think about it, that's the only part of the show I enjoyed.

For me its' gotta be:

Rurouni Kenshin
Trigun
Gundam Wing
Gundam Seed (2nd season opener)
Robotech (technically a rehash of three anime series into one)
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Superbook
The Flying House
(technically, as I discovered, the above two DO qualify as anime because they were both created in Japan for Japan, despite the fact that an American company initiated the creation)
Tsubasa
I THINK Buso Renkin
Samurai Champloo
Cowboy Bebop
Fullmetal Alchemist

Opening:

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Cruel Angel's Thesis
Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone complex : Inner Universe
Blood+ : Aozora no Namida
Serial Experiments Lain: Duvet
Bleach: Asterisk

Closing:

Naruto: Wind
D Grey Man: Snow Kiss
Red Garden: Both closings. I think the J-rock really hits the spot at the end of any given episode.

I would also like to give special mention to the entire soundtrack from .hack//sign. It's absolutely fantastic.

Shame that nobody mentioned the following:

His and Her Circumstances - The Promise of an Angel
Naruto - Haruka Kanata
Pilot Candidate - Zion! (Aim to the Stars of Your Dreams)
Sorcerer Hunters - What's Up!

(Side note--you have no idea how embarassing it is to look up "Naruto" on Wikipedia at work to find the name of that song!)
