So just flipping through the channels last night, our Muchmusic (aka our MTV) actually had what looked to be a new anime. And apparently it was a marathon running of it all week and played like 4 eps or so last night (although I only saw bits and pieces). It's apparently a new FUNI title called BECK (which sounded like a manga I've heard of before) Mongolian Chop Squad. It's um... quite a different and also mature series, from the bits I've seen :/

Interesting to see a new anime on Canadian airwaves that does NOT require satelite/digital cable :/ Not something I'll really be watching through from what I've seen, but I guess worth pointing out to others^^

Beck is the same thing as the manga called BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad.

The tv series in Japan was named BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad, but Funimation calls it Beck.

The five eps will air again Today, Wednesday, Thursday and next weekend.

Does this have anything to do with the singer of the same name?Just curious since that's the only reason I can think of why it would be on a Music station.

No. The anime is a slice of life story about a 14 year old boy name Tanaka Yukio, who feels disconnected from life. He meets up with Minami Ryuusuke, who is a guitarist that has a band called Beck.

Yeah it's a pretty musically involved series with bands and bandlife etc. which is why it would be on a music channel. The thing that I don't get is when I heard that Heat Guy J was on MTV... I mean, the only thing I can think of is because it has music in it, just like every single anime does. *shrugs*
