Espers in disguise? This sounds totally lame to me. It's like a horrible attempt at being original. Speaking of being original:

Sounds good, other than the whole motorcycle'd Shiva thing. XD; What are they thinking with that? O_o

Oh well. I'll probably play it (assuming I ever get a PS3...) and end up loving it or something, so I won't make any judgements now. XDD

Have you played Blue Dragon yet?

The FF series hasn't died for me yet but I now consider it a new series.

FFXII and on will be referred to as the "Sell-Out" FFs.

I don't think that this is new info as I read about the Shiva motorcycle thing at RPGFan a few weeks back.
But, regardless...

Motomu Toriyama was the director for Final Fantasy X-2 and event director for Final Fantasy X.
Now, since Final Fantasy XIII is being done by Kitase's division again, I have a strong suspicion that it will have more in common with the previous PS/PS2 Final Fantasy games than it will with Final Fantasy XII.
But, that's just my speculations.

Regarding the battle system, I wouldn't mind it. It isn't necessarily new, but if it can have a fun free-form feel while keeping its rpg elements intact I'd be willing to try it. Of course, I'm fine with action rpgs, so that is part of it. But at the same time, I don't want to play just action rpgs.

Just so long as the game doesn't have you solving puzzles with a Rumah rope or combing your hair with a Leviathan brush.

Looks pretty + Final Fantasy, no matter how it plays = will give it a shot.

That's pretty much all the level treadmill is, right?

What I reall like is when your guys are so powerful, they can just beat things up on their own. You don't have to select what they'll do, or anything.

They can be fun on occasion though^^ *thinks of .hack & Kingdom Hearts*. I think it can be a bit of a nice change of pace from turn/time battles...

So, the summons are going to be mecha? At least, that's what I infer from the wording of the article. That actually sounds like it would be pretty sweet!

It certainly seems this game will have a lot of bosses.

Generally speaking we're on a similar wavelength, but I have to admit this post confuses me. Could you rephrase it more directly?
