Calling all DDR-ers...

Postby Evangeline-San » Tue Jan 02, 2007 11:38 am

I was reminded about my addiction by the CAA podcast... hehe Thanks guys. ;)
I'm curious... How many of you guys are DDR freaks? Or have done it...
So what are your favorite songs? And on what skill level?
Most of my faves from DDRmax games:
Afronova on Heavy
Tsugaru on Heavy
Burning Heat on Heavy
Drop the Bomb on Heavy
Breakdown on Heavy (or backwards on Standard XD)
End of the Century on Heavy

Then there's some of my faves in ITG game(in. the. groove.):
Tough Enough on Hard
Disconnected on Hard
Land of the Rising Sun on the highest level...which ever that is.
can't remember anymore. ^_^

Have at you guys!:jump:

And now ya'll know that I am a DDR freak! :D

Wow, another player!

I play DDR quite frequently, some of my favorite songs are (on heavy)
A
AA
Love Love Shine
Freckles
Sync
Love Love Sugar
Waka Laka
Healing Vision Angelic Mix
Daikenkai
Era
Holic
V
Kakumei
Sakura (I can't beat it on heavy, but I can beat it on challenge)
Rhythm and Police
Speed over Beethoven
Tears (The best DDR song ever)
Tsugaru
Twinbee
Vanity Angel
And Matsuri Japan

So yeah, I can do around 7-9 footers, though I can almost beat Sakura on heavy, though I fail XD I'm also trying to transition to doubles on heavy, though I'm starting easy with 6 footers with songs like Look to the Sky.

I don't play ITG too much, though it has some songs I like not found in DDR. I ought to play it one time.

Oh! I'm also a stepmania player, though I can't do those crazy 11-16 footers that some people do. I also play with one hand as opposed to two so that puts me at a disadvantage.

I love DDR! Although I'm still just starting to dabble in Standard Mode.

Although sadly I haven't been able to feed my addiction for that last 2 months as the Nickel arcade I used to regular needs to fix their machine. T_T

For DDR, I'm quite the noob, I can barely do four, and if I'm lucky, five feet. I'm a bit better in Stepmania, and I can do most eights and some nine footers.

Well, I usually try on standard, although I'm not always able to beat them. I can't do any on heavy that I can think of.

Some songs I like:
Butterfly (whatever that quick version is)
End of the Century
Afronova
Tsugaru
then I supppose random Captain Jack songs

I don't own DDR or have an arcade anywhere near me, so I always have to go to a friends house.

I just got initiated on it on Friday.supernova.

It's really fun, but at the moment, I am not above standard. My favorite song would have to be Freckles.

I play on heavy (8s, 9s, and 10s) very casually now. I used to be really into it but now, I only play when I have time, which is never.

My favorites are So Deep on Heavy, Burning Heat! on Heavy, Sakura on Heavy!, Paranoia Survivor on Heavy, and Frozen Ray on Heavy (I love the turning part). Um. Yeah, that's about it.

I was dabbling into heavy for a while, but after playing on New Years for the first time in 7 or 8 months, I was getting C's on standard.

I should go get one.

My fiancee just got me DDR Super Nova for Christmas. Yes, I am a guy and I am much better than my future bride. I was a drummer for many years so I have good rhythm. I have also played DDR befor in an Arcade in Splash Lagoon in Erie, PA. I love DDR. It's great.
The Straight and Narrow

I chose to walk the straight and narrow road, but one day I lost balance and fell off it. I had fallen onto some sharp rocks and injured myself. There were people passing by who would merely stare at me, and then keep walking. Thoughts of worthlessness entered into my mind, and as I chose to believe the lies, my wounds grew worse. I was so overcome with grief that I nearly gave up... but then a man walked up to me and stopped. Without saying a word, he started to wrap my wounds, he gave me some water, and then lifted me up and embraced me. He then whispered these words into my ear, "I love you my child." As he said those words I could feel all the worthlessness and despair fall away. He then held out his hands. They had huge holes in them. He then said, "Walk with me." I then took his hand and we walked together. Every now and then I would fall from the road, but no matter where I fell, he was always there to pick me up and tell me that He loved me.

Heh, I just started DDR a week ago, in hopes of gaining a little exercise benefit. And 'cause I always thought it looked like fun. Which it is. TONS. XD

I'm around 4-5 feet now, and mostly playing the Light mode. Still getting the hang of it. I bought a dance pad and DDRMAX. We'll see how that goes and then go from there. I really am having a ton of fun with it, and am quite addicted. Been doing it at least an hour every day since I got it - sometimes 2 hours or more. Seems to be a pretty good aerobic-type workout for me.

I've never played it in the arcade before. I wanted to get the hang of it at home first so I don't look as much like a dork when I try it in an arcade. And so I don't waste my money trying it only to find out I stink. XD

I really like some of the music too. Any idea where I can get it? It doesn't look like the songs I like are on the soundtrack releases...

After beign SO used to my own dance pads, I ended up going to the arcade to learn one thign: it's NOTHING like the pads >_< Either the buttons aren't as sensitive as the dance pads, where you can lightly tap it and it works fine, or the fact that the arrows are indented some, throws me off :/ I'm thinking a bit of both.

As for me with hard levels, I'm trying to challange myself when I can to standard. I think the hardest thing I find with harder levels, isn't exactly that it's too fast for my feet, but for my eyes. I have a hard time concentrating, and sometimes when so much is happening at once, hard to tell if it's a double step-step, or step-step-step. Anyone else have this problem? Probably when I do the song over and over again I can be able to follow it easier^^ Or it's like the first few times I did Sakura it went WAY too fast to follow and took me FOREVER to even beat! Now, I can get by on a B on light (not quite an A) and it seems to have "slowed down" now that I have gotten used to it^^

I'm mostly a heavy person. And I like the arcades cause you can show off. But ya never know if the buttons will work. >.< lol

I find that I have to STOMP really hard on arcade pads - I can play 8-9 foot songs no problem on my foam pads, but the arcade ones take some effort and it's hard to tell myself "STOMP!" and concentrate on the song at the same time.

Yes... teh stompage is hard work! I just like it where I can touch the pad as light as a feather and it can still press the button^^ Specially with songs that require lotsa fancy footwork and fast motions, so it's not like after you try and STOMP one button and like, 3 arrows fly past :/

Thanks for the tip - I'll keep that in mind if I ever try it in the arcade. XD

And I have trouble following the arrows too. I mean, I have yet to train my feet too move faster (although I got an A on Rythym and Police today which for me is amazing), but even if I could, I have trouble following the arrows when they are too close together - the 1/8 notes drive me nuts!

It'll be a LOOOONG time before I can even try Heavy mode. I'm still on Light and there are songs I can't do (ie Paranoia Evolution).

Someday though... XD
