Best fight scenes in anime

Postby rocklobster » Fri Dec 15, 2006 5:47 am

I love fights in anime! What are your all-time favorite fight scenes? I think the best of all would have to be Yusuke vs. Togoro in Yu Yu Hakusho. I was waiting sooo long for this beatdown and we got it...in spades! I was definitely glad to have a front row seat for this one.

Tsukikage Ran has some of the best animated fight scenes around. The fights themselves are not what I'd call epic, but a lot of detail was drawn into the animation make them of the highest quality.

That entire ending is fantastic as it looked like Kenshin was done in but managed to make a come back.

Pfffft like you can count frames per second =p unless it's obviously less than 24.

Hamtaro versus the Evil Ham Wizard (played by Boss). The special effect at the end of the battle was just awesome. ^__^

::thwaps repeatidly upside the head with Izzy's green socks:: AGAIN WITH THE HAMTARO!!!

Anyway, IMHO, the best anime fight scene is the one that ends in under 3 episodes...

::Glares at Dragonball/Z/GT with contempt::

But I digress, my favorite anime battle scene has to be the final Spike/Vicious battle on Cowboy Bebop! The music and everything rocks!

definitely the spike vs viscious fight. that scene was extremely well-done.
spike vs vincent was also pretty crazy.
naruto vs sasuke (second time)
yusuke vs younger togoro
goku vs majin vegata (gotta admit. that was pretty good. though quite time consuming.)

Well, I can think of a number of fight scenes that are dramatic and well-developed in that sense. A shonen writer basically has to be able to create those to be successful. But as far as scenes that had good choreography (one of my biggest pet peeves in anime is when there is none whatosever) and good animation, many fewer come to mind. The fight between Jin and Mugen in the first episode of Samurai Champloo qualifies, as do some of the later fights. No equivalents are coming to mind right now.

I'd say the roof top fight scene in the final episodes of Noir was pretty incredible.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Samurai Champloo did have some pretty impressive choreography. I liked the Mugen vs. Sara fight.

Just about every fight in FLCL...

Goku and Vegeta vs. Janenba, and later Veku vs. Janenba (I know it's DBZ, but the fights in the movies were so much better than the series... they were so much shorter!!)

Vash vs. Knives

Naruto vs. Sasuke - "Round 2"

Rock Lee vs. Gaara

"Drunken Master" Lee vs. Kimimaro

...and that's all I can think of for the time being.

I agree. Especially the final one. I actually don't mind not knowing how it ended, because my imagination can finish that fight for me. (And I think Kazuma won, actually. That is his hand we see at the end.)

Kenshiro vs Raoh the last battle. *Very, very violent*

I can't remember seeing a better anime composed ending to such a series, so many areas that connected to eachother, even though Raoh was pretty brutal I diden't want either of them to die. Some tears I tell you.
