Joseph Barbera, one-half of the Hanna-Barbera team has died. He was 95.
So, in honor of the passing of this great cartoonist, let's name our favorite Hanna-Barbera characters.
Mine would be Scooby Doo.

Weren't those made by those Bernstein people? Stan and Jan or something? (Which I somehow still remember cause I used to own some books and cartoons of it).

Hmmm... when I was younger I liked Flinstones and Yogi Bear (cause I had a video of him I'd watch alot).

I wonder if some of the newer cartoons that would be out would be concidered Hanna-Barbera? I think they are, followed by "Cartoon Network", like Dexter's Lab and Powerpuff Girls and all that, which I'd watch back in grade 8ish. Same art style and all, so I'm sure...

Oh and BTW, I NEVER watched Scooby Doo as a kid... not sure why, maybe a coupel times that I don't remember, but the first time I saw it was in grade... 6ish, and I thought it was SUCH a bad show, since the plot's the same in EVERY ep!

They also created the first true American action adventure cartoon:Jonny Quest.If only the rest of the American cartoon industry had followed their lead.

I agree! I loved Johnny Quest. My top 10 favorite Hanna Barbera shows are:
10. Power Puff Girls

2. The Jetsons (hey I even loved Orbity. He was so cute! I wanted him for a pet too when I was little)

Tom and Jerry was great, until some idiot decided to show them as best buds rather than chasing each other. ARGH!
anyway, here's a fun fact: In their first cartoon, Tom was actually named Jasper and looked very realistic. (It was called "Puss Gets the Boot") Jerry didn't have a name though. The eventual names we're used to were chosen out of a hat.

For the record, I despise Tom and Jerry. Really... People think DBZ is repetetive? I mean, it has its moments (the french one, for instance) but overall it's incredibly boring. That said, I like Yogi, particularly that Yogi movie, and I sorta like the Flinstones... Scooby Doo is also incredibly repetitive, though I liked the "Scooby Movies" season, with all the celebrity guest stars... Don Knotts!!! Come to think of it, most of what they did was repetitive... To think I grew up with this stuff... I like some of the more recent stuff, actually. Power Puff girls, Dexter's Lab on occasion... Billy and Mandy is awesome... I know they didn't actually make those characters, so... Yeah, Yogi... Definately my favorite character in the Catalogue... I like the "movies" too, like the Jetsons meet the Flinstones, and the Jetsons movie... The shows were just poorly animated, repetitive, and a waste of potential in many cases... The worst was when they tried to breath new life into it by making all the characters younger... Ugh... Scrappy shall forever be an embarassment...

I know, don't speak ill of the dead... I sorta liked Scooby Doo (just not when scrappy was there, or when they were kids) and Flinstones (just not when they were kids) and Jetsons and I really liked Yogi (but liked it better later on when the art improved) I grew up with these cartoons, and I appreciate them for bringing animation to TV, but... that's about it... Disney did this much better later on, even though it took the success of HB to spur Disney into action...

I think though that The Flinstones was Hanna And Barbera's first landmark hit for
tv.It was also the first major cartoon created for prime time.Without The Flinstones it is very unlikely that we would have The Simpsons today on primetime.
