As far as getting an avatar is concerned, there are a lot of places on the internet to get them; you can just search for them in a search engine; you might even find one in a google image search. Once you get it, save it to your computer, then go up to user cp at the top of your screen. You'll see a list of options; choose avatar. You can upload from there...
