Once Again...

Postby Aka-chan » Tue Jul 13, 2004 1:04 am

Well, here we have yet another gem regarding anime from the New York Times. They ran an article on the rising popularity of graphic novels on Sunday, and manga got a one-sentence mention:

The New York Times wrote:Shelf loads of manga -- those Japanese comic books that feature slender, wide-eyed teenage girls who seem to have a special fondness for sailor suits.

Of course, that's not even a real sentence...

I personally find it all rather amusing.

Spice Girls Samurai and woman wearing sailor suits. Their problem is that they are incredibly cynical, so they see everything as jokes.

hey, did you hear about that psuedo-manga that Courtney Love (excuse me while I throw up) is writing? I think tokyopop is publishing it. those dudes are craaazy, what with their Courtney Love and everything.

um, a little more on topic, the Detroit Free Press recently ran a segment on manga (it was a whole page!). but they forgot that anything but shoujo manga exists. seriously, they talked about Fruits Basket and Boys Over Flowers, and other shoujo/romance type stuff, but completely left out every other manga genre. i was ****.
