Poll: Should Anime stay in Asian Region only

Postby Yahshua » Sun May 09, 2004 4:41 pm

I am an Asian lately I have been wondering should anime stay in Asian region only? That the Anime should not be publish to other region but just stay in Asian region only. The reason for such thinking is that First when taking about Anime in United States people still think Anime as Kids stuff. Second what have been showing in CN and AS have been cut to the point that it destory the series itself. And third the dubing of it sometimes it is so horrible and the dialogue is so bad itself too. And finally the fan of anime either are nerdy kids or fat girls. So should Anime be stay in Asian Region only?

:waah!: You called me a nerd!!!!!!!!! I'm not. But to answer your question I really don't think it should stay in the Asian region only. If you don't like American anime then don't watch it.

Oh and by the way I'm the coolest guy in school  Not a nerd!

Yashua, I found post rather insulting and unesscary. That's my humble opinion.

I will explain what I think:

1) when taking about Anime in United States people still think Anime as Kids stuff. Reason why: Cause people are ignorant and don't expand. They have closed minds to thinking that all anime is Pokemonish. That's how it is. Thiers really now way to remedy that cause of what kiddish Anime shows like Pokemon (no offense to those who like it) get more publicity.

2) what have been showing in CN and AS have been cut to the point that it destory the series itself. What I think: That is very untrue. Sure CN cuts it up but it's for the betetr. Why? So it's descent for younger viewers and Christians (and non-Christians) who want to enjoy the anime without all the fanservice, swearing, and blood. if you dont want the anime cut into ribbons, go buy it. Thats what I do. As for AS, to my knowledge, they don't cut anything out. I belive its in it's pure form.

3) the dubing of it sometimes it is so horrible and the dialogue is so bad itself too. The reasoning I have is: Some naime has poor dubbing (dbz comes to mind) but others have superb that I'd rather watch it in it's dubbed form (outlaw star, cowboy bebop, neon genesis evangelion.)

4) the fan of anime either are nerdy kids or fat girls. You should be ashamed by that statement cause; It's untrue. And does it REALLY matter what you look like? Thats' very discrimanent towards well nerds and overweight people. I know alot og girls who love anime but aren't as you say fat. I'm getting very angry bout this so I dont want to blow up or anything.

So my final words is...is this REALLY that important? I mean WHO CARES!? The people who make this anime recieve the profits when we buy anime from America so they get more money.

I find this topic very unesscary.

Well, I'm neither fat, nor a nerd (on a short note, I believe that both someone who's over weight or a nerd has just as much right to like anime as anyone.) I think anime should come to the US. With time and enough fans on its side, these misconceptions about anime will subside.

Anyways, I hope it stays in the US because I don't want to have to learn Japanese to enjoy anime. If there's no english anime, I'll have no other options.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Sort of to cap this, Yahshua, please be careful with what you're implying in your posts. I'm going to assume you didn't mean that *all* anime fans are stereotyped the way you stated, rather assuming you meant that the popular view is that way. Whether that assertion's actually true or not, I think as well that you'll overwhelmingly find most people here do want anime exported so that others (and themselves!) can enjoy it. I'm unsure as to what your post actually is getting at, but please observe tact with your posts.

EDIT: No flamefests, please ... Yahshua, please explain further; if you'd prefer not to, I'll just close this thread to prevent any possible misunderstandings.

im not fat or a nerd. besides, who cares? they're carttons, no matter how you look at them. who cares if some people think its all kids stuff? I dont. if you dont like the dubbs, then dont watch it. if you cant afford subs, then get a job mowing lawns. think about it, even if the dubbings to suck and its butchered, peopel still get something better than the american cartoons and it might just spark interest.

(understand that holding the right perspective helps. jpanese carttons just happen to be better.)

Folks (Ruroken, did you even read my post above, please?), this thread is going to be a lot of "I'm not fat and/or I'm not a nerd" if/until Yahshua explains his point. Let's let him explain himself, or the thread's closed, since I'm not sure of the point he's actually trying to make.

I give up. Thread closed.

Folks, when mods post something, we do expect it to be read, and based on the user's other posts, I suspect a language barrier was to blame for the original posting -- thus my willingness to give him another go. I'm disappointed people are more interested in kneejerk reactions than allowing the original poster to explain himself.

EDIT: Ruroken, this post isn't aimed at you; this was more in reaction to Destroyer.
