Biggest Woobie in Anime

According to TV Tropes, Woobies are characters who undergo so much suffering, you just want to hug them.
So, who do you think is the biggest woobie in all of anime?
My votes:
Alphonse Elric (FMA)
Orihime (Bleach)
Shinji (Evangelion)
both leads in Grave of the Fireflies (if you don't cry at least once by the end of the movie, divorce yourself from the human race)
Eureka (Eureka 7--good thing Renton does all the hugging and consoling for us)
Lain (Serial Experiments Lain)
Reki (Haibane Renmei)

I bring to your attention:
Fai D. Flourite (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles)
Subaru Sumeragi (TRC, Tokyo Babylon, X/1999)
Just about everyone in Fruits Basket. No, scratch that. ABSOLUTELY everyone in Fruits Basket. Special mention, though, to Ritsu and Rin.
Crona (Soul Eater)
Zero (Vampire Knight)

Off topic:
Okay, this ticks me off Rock. Just because I or anyone else that had no feeling or connection to the lead characters that I or anyone else didn't cry doesn't make them a cold hared person that should divorce their self from the human race. If it was an live action movie, I may have had feelings to cry, but since it was an anime, no I didn't.
Please don't make comments like this as not everyone is going to have the same feelings over movies as you do. Also, that is a very fine line to make a comment like that as well as your asking someone that they should divorce or kill their self, because they didn't cry in that movie.
On topic:
Shinji from EVA and Toboe of Wolf's Rain.

Yes yes yes.
Even Kaji never hugged her. Asuka is a poor lonely soul. No one ever showed her any love.

Yuki Onizawa (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0). If you don't know why, watch the anime. Right now.
Al (FMA). Big time.

The collective cast of Now and Then, Here and There. Holy crap. These people needed a lot more than a hug, but it's a good place to start.
Also, for me, Crona from Soul Eater. He is probably the "woobie" that breaks my heart the most (at least, I feel that way cause I'm currently watching the show). I totally get him, as we are alike in some significant ways.

Zero from VK
Al & Ed from FMA
Nunnally [hello, blind, handicapped, abandoned with insane sibs?] , Suzaku [his face just screams hug me whenever he's surprised/ not about to kill something, and then when he cries I wanna go hug him so bad] come on, how is this not huggable???/
, & Lelouch from Code Geass [come on, you know u wanna hug the insane bishie]

Fai D Flowrite (Tsubasa Chronicles)- Haven't gotten that far in the series yet, but I know enough to know that a LOT of.....stuff happens to him.
Hikaru Shindo (Hikaru no Go)- [spoiler]When you know what happened to you know who. Hikaru had no one to talk to or seek console/closure when Sai dissapeared. I felt so bad for him that I wanted to leap across the TV screen/manga page and hold him to let him cry into my shoulder.[/spoiler]
Riku, Axel, Roxas, Xion, Namine (From Kingdom Hearts)- All these people have sad stories.
I would comfort them all....although, I'm not sure if Riku would appreciate me hugging him. -_-;

I have to mention Kurogane from Tsubasa. Just cause he can deal with it doesn't mean it wasn't difficult! n.n
Viro from Elemental Gelade
It's hard for me to come up with these cause I'm not much of a hugging person... >.<

I agree about Kuro-ch-.....I mean Kurogane. I haven't gotten that far, but I suspect that he's gone through some pretty rough stuff too.

Quoted for truth.
Also, yes, Lag Seeing does have things pretty bad for him too. But at least he has Niche and Steak. :3

If Lelouch was completely unaltered from himself (same personality, same intelligence, same goals, same relationships) except in that instead of a handsome young boy, he was an aging middle-aged man, or a young boy but somehow horrifically hideous, you would want nothing to do with him.
Fact.

Fact.
If he was still voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch, I would hug him.
But this is turning into a "what anime character would you hug thread" and I don't want that.
Therefore, I'm going to put Edward Elric here. I believe he suffered even more than his brother.

Slowly, I am finding this out.
Being prone to guilt myself, I cannot imagine the weight he carries, nor the anguish and turmoil he suffers.

Pretty much everyone in Furuba and FullMoon o Sagashite
Tsukiyomi Ikuto and Mashiro Rima, from Shugo Chara!
Winry, Ed, and Al from FullMetal alchemist
Natsume, Mikan, and a whole lot of other people from Gakuen Alice
Sakuya from Hoshi wa Utau
I could probably name a few for almost every anime/manga I've watch/read

Agreed. There's also the fact that Fireflies was a true story, except for the part about the main character dying (he wrote the book.) And I have to admit it bugs me when people can't feel something because it's animated. It seems a childish crutch to only fully accept a story when there are "real" people in it. They're NOT real. In fact, as Ebert put it, the animation makes it more pure, because it's not a child pretending to starve to death, it's about the
idea of a child starving to death.
[button="Troper Tales... what"]When I was little, I rebelled against cartoons. I would watch Sesame street, but only when the **real** parts were on, not when they had animated portions. I think the fact that I realized how stupid that was early on is why I am still an animation fan today.[/button]
More directly on topic, there are a LOT of woobies in anime. Justified angst is really popular for anime at the moment... Maybe for the past decade or so, it has been.

False. Maybe I wouldnt hug him, but I would at least cry for him, pat him on the back, and offer him a cookie.
Also agree on Kuro-tan.

As much as I like the character Lelouch I don't know if I would call him a woobie. That's not to say he isn't a sympathetic character but he seems completely fine with taking care of himself and he has CC to hug him.

Funny thing is, people want to bring that up after the fact that it was cleared up. I wasn't really upset, but more that I felt he should have choice his words better or not say anything at all with that comment.
