Anime Pet Peeves?

It is a given that everyone here loves anime, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has some issues with the shows we all love. Unless I am the only one?
So for something different:
What are your biggest anime pet peeves?
I have a couple: (and this is probably mostly dub situations, because I really like dubs, and I usually watch them. Keep in Mind: this is not an anti dub/sub thread. XD
Over-reaction. I know it's probably a cultural thing, but it really bothers me when certain anime characters just over react about the smallest things and yell. I mean in some situations its really hilarious, but when almost every line is a freak-out exclamation I sort of cringe and even feel embarrassed that I'm watching the show. >_<
High pitched high school girl voices:
Ex. A- Orihime from Bleach, oh my gosh. I have never heard any high school girl talk like this in my life! They may have a higher voice octave then I do, but really? Its like a raspy pitch, like she's trying to hard to act cute.
Ex B. Mikuru from TMoHS. Adorable character, but really? Is it a Moe thing in Japan or something?
Maybe I'm being too critical here, and I apologize for that... I was just wondering if I am the only one who has certain issues with anime. Maybe I just do because I'm older than some of the members here?

Why do anime characters always fall head first? D:

ok... my biggest one is when they show head injuries. There's always this lump thing/growth growing out of the character's head and it is positively disgusting! I know it's stylized but I just can't stand it.
Oh! And what's worse than the lump growth thing? When they have a small lump growth thing growing out of a larger one. >.>

If you think it's bad animated, you should see when they actually use it in a live action version of an anime.

During a fight scene they stop fighting and have long-drawn out conversation on why the hero can't beat the badguy, only to have him eventually do it. Hello, Bleach.

XD Actually, Kitchan, those same things annoy me in anime, too. It's why I typically lean towards more realistic series these days, or at least series that are somewhat less extremely energetic! XD

Really....high.....voices. One of the reasons I usually prefer dub over sub, sometimes the girls have way too high of a voice! Not that a dub has never had that kind of a problem.... *coughCARDCAPTORSAKURAMOVIE2cough*. And sometimes, the problem in an anime dub...someone who sounds like they're TRYING to sound younger! Oh, and also......50 GALLONS OF BLOOD! OK, now I know that in animation, or even real life films, you do need to up the blood a little to notice the injury. For example, a real paper cut, barely any blood comes out, but if you want it noticed, you may want a small crimson ribbon to stream at least halfway down the finger. That's OK, I understand you need to do that. But when they bleed out like...5 people??? And are STILL alive??? XD!!!!!! I always laugh at this. However, more violent animes bleed out like....5000 gallons, and it's sickening....
That is practically my only pet peeve.

This is moe.
I guess my pet peeve is overdone fan service.

At first I thought the title to this thread said, "Animal Pet Peeves" then wondered why it was put in "Anime". Oh. I see. Guess I'll post too.
Anyhoo, ANIME pet peeves:
* Dub's changing dialog when they don't have to on Cut Away shots or when the character's mouth is hidden.) I understand the challenges of lip syncing, but when there's an easy out why not just stick to what their really saying?
* 30 min. Filler Episodes which theme is a crass joke that's 29 minutes. too long.
* Bad Dub Casting (resulting in those annoying voice pitch problems.)
* Overdone fanservice as well

Funny I actually thought the exact same thing!
So anime pet peeves:
- When they have female "fighters" that just stand there and do nothing... ever.
- Long, drawn out monologues during the middle of a fight.

THIS.
Adding pointless filler (I'm sure we can all think of some examples of that).
High-pitched voices I can deal with- the Japanese girls I talk to seem to be a bit higher-pitched than American ones, and it seems to be fairly noticeable, I'm not sure why....
But it's not just the girls, guys seem to be on average higher-pitched than their American counterparts.

Me too with the overly done fanserve like SailorDove and rocklobster said. Also, when the english dub is completely off from the subbed version and when they have too many episodes of characters talking to each other before they fight. (DBZ for example)

Ooo! Pet peeves in anime. I've got some right here:
I really dislike it when the girls are portrayed as wimpy, unintelligent, usless beings who can't do a thing for themselves....and basically do nothing to grow or change throughout the entire show. They're are used to either look pretty, or for fanservice.....which is another thing I dislike in anime. DX!
I also dislike yaoi/yuri fanart (especially of an anime that I enjoy and there is nothing like that in the show at all!)
, and anime covers that look highly unsavory and "hentai".
Oh! And in-humanly high-pitched female-voices in english dubs. (Origin's Spirits of the Past is a prime example, with the voice of the forest. >.<!)

I really can't say anything about the first one- as someone who has several alternate shippings other than what's considered canon (hetero ships, but still not considered canon!), I'm a live-and-maybe-other-people-won't-get-on-my-case-about-my-alt-ships kind of gal.
As for the second- Yeah. I have one of those for a perfectly good anime, but I blush when I give it out because it will get a look and I have to explain hestily that 'it's not what it looks like'! (D. Gray-man, you have caused me much shame for this with the DVD cover art for the girls, when it's not like that at all in the anime!)

I personally don't mind alt. ships actually (so long as they aren't yaoi/yuri). I like to think of them as an alternate universe. In fact one of my favorite pairings are Ariel/Jim Hawkins from Disney's Little Mermaid and Treasure Planet and I totally ship them (bless you Landlocked fanfiction). XD! But, that's just my opinion.

Naw I can totally understand
(but I have NEVER heard of that ship before- when did it set sail?!)
Another anime pet peeve- when they make an anime so early in the series they only have material for half the season and either pull the other half out of thin air, or make it full of filler. Not cool.

I'm not sure actually. You'll find alot of AMVs on youtube of it though. But, this fanfic is what really got me fangirling over them:
http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1811386/iesnoth
This only has like less than a third of the chapters. The rest is on this girl's deviantart page:
http://iesnoth.deviantart.com/gallery/#Ariel-and-Jim--3
I highly reccommend reading them on deviantART, because there is more to the story, plus some awesome fanart! XD!
Anyway's we must get back on topic, (hmm, but this non-canon shipping thing could make an interesting poll/thread), let's see pet peeves in anime......bad dubbing. I don't always watch subs, but I can tell when something has a terrible dub just by watching the english bad-acting. For example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNO_1eZyNqk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxa9WpZnnNc&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VStfvFLRw3o&feature=related (warning: There is a girl who is a bit endowed in this clip. Thankfully, there is not a single fanservice shot with her. )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MBVgxdiA-w&feature=related
I vote those dubs epic fails. Ban 4-kids!
But again, my opinion.

That is REALLY annoying to me. Especially when they go way off track from what the original storyline was. It's ok to do so a little, but not so much that it basically makes the anime a completely different story.
However, some slight variation in anime from the manga is nice, because otherwise it can make reading the manga when you've seen the anime or visa versa kind of boring... but if the art style of the mangaka is unique/good, then that makes up for it.

One of the ones that tend to get to me is the "My parents are away on a business trip" trope. So let me get this straight--your parents leave you all alone for XYZ months with NOBODY to check in on you, make sure you're alive or not having swinging parties every single night? My mom had to go in for minor surgery when I was in middle school. She was out of the house for about 2-3 days--trust and believe I had people checking in on me, calling, coming by, etc on a daily basis.
My next peeve is aimed directly at Funimation and "Bang Zoom! Entertainment". Please...for the love of ALL that is good in anime, STIR THE VOICE ACTOR POT! Change things up a bit please! Granted, the actors they use are excellent and are the best of the best...for crying out loud, GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A SHOT! I mean, I like Johnny Bosch and Vic Mignogna as much as the next guy, but when you have dang near EVERY SHOW where they're the main lead, that becomes tiring QUICK.
My last peeve is something that I've been griping about for a while now...when anime characters get a cold or a fever and are suddenly at death's doorstep. Now, I'm not a medical doctor, nor do I claim to be, but the last I checked, unless you have other, more serious health issues, all you have to do is take some medicine, stay in bed, get some rest, and you're done! Suck it up!

I agree with two of these!
I forgot about the whole "Faints from fever/cold." shtick. XD it happens alll the time! Granted, it's great for "lovey/dovey" moments or getting a couple closer...but really? It's so tired.
XD I think the "parents are gone" thing is to give the character no responsibility to anyone but themselves. If mom and dad aren't around then they can be free to do whatever.
Unless Japan is a TOTALLY different culture in that parents are really lax with their kids' safety? In which case, is it really bad parenting? Or just the way the culture there is?
When it comes to VAs though, I don't really mind that, so long as they can change their tones and not sound exactly like another character they have done.
I miss Crispin Freeman... *sigh* has he done anything lately?

Inconsistent gravity. I've learned to deal with it (especially due to Bleach), but it still bugs me. I want to know WHY they can walk on air one second, and the next they're falling. But...meh.

Yeah, mostly the yelling-out-your-attack-right-before-doing-it one. Makes absolutely no sense, because then your enemy knows what you're going to do - or at least what stupid name you picked out for it.
I also find it ridiculous when they're running somewhere, stop, talk for a bit, then say, "Let's go!" and keep running. Why couldn't you have just said all that while you were running?! DX

Yes, or when the bad guy and good guy decide to hold a press conference discussing their trumping abilities right before a big battle....really. sure. Okay. Uh huh.

Because of Anime I now hate heterochromia.
I will actually drop a show episode one if a character with heterochromia appears.
Clearing that out of the way, moe is the cancer that is killing Anime - if you disagree you are part of the cancer.
I'm sure I'll think of more later.

I have heard some where that the whole "yelling out an attack" thing is a culture thing. I'm not sure as I am no expert on that sort of thing, haha.
XD Mightimidget, I believe that's called "monologuing" and even super heroes from AMERICA (lawl podcast reference) do it.
But I digress, it is very annoying.
Edit:
FISH! My dog has heterochromia do you hate him too?
