"Sometimes we don't present the Gospel well enough for the non-elect to reject it."
- John MacArthur

"In the total expanse of the human life, there is not a single square inch of which Christ, who alone is sovereign, does not declare, 'That is mine'."
- Abraham Kuyper

"God the great Creator of all things doth uphold, direct, dispose, and govern all creatures, actions, and things, from the greatest even to the least, by His most wise and holy providence, according to His infallible foreknowledge and the free and immutable counsel of His own will, to the praise of the glory of His wisdom, power, justice, goodness, and mercy."
- Westminister Confession of Faith (Chapter 5, Section 1)

"The wisdom of God has found a way for the love of God to deliver sinners from the wrath of God all the while upholding the righteousness of God!!"
- John Piper

"Grace is the pleasure of God to magnify the worth of God by giving sinners the right and power to delight in God without obscuring the glory of God!"
-John Piper

"The very One from Whom we need to be saved, is the One Who has saved us."
- R.C. Sproul

"All of Christian life is ceaseless worship of God the Father, through the mediatorship of God the Son, by the indwelling power of God the Spirit, doing what God commands in Scripture, not doing what God forbids in Scripture, in culturally contextualized ways, for the furtherance of the Gospel, when both gathered for adoration, and scattered for action, in joyous response to God's glorious grace."
- Mark Driscoll

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."
- Martin Luther

"I have to tell you first that I am ready to die. I have put my affairs in order. Your supreme weapon is killing. My supreme weapon is dying, because when you kill me, people all over Romania will read my books and believe on the God that I preach - even more than they do now."
- Dr. Joseph Ton, the exiled Romanian pastor (quoted by James Montgomery Boice)

"The best prayer I ever prayed had enough sin in it to condemn the whole world."

Ugh! Release all the DVD and Theatrical release dates already!! I want this so terribly!
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I never heard of this title until now, but I'm going to keep my eye out for it. The animation looks very well done and the story plot seems like something I might be interested in. Thanks for the heads up!

Im sorry for digging up this thread, but I didn't want to make another thread.
I really liked this movie. There's always different takes on what makes a movie good. This film dealt with speed and time. I thought the story was really beautiful but I still wonder what happened at the end though. Can anybody clear this up for me? And also if you do, please put it in spoilers for those who have yet to see it. And also what were y'all's takes on this movie, meaning did you like it or hate it. Why or why not? What did you like about it? You know that stuff.

I haven't got the dvd yet, since it just came out. I'm a big fan of Makoto Shinkai work and if you seen this and not Voices of a Distant Star nor The Place We Were Promised. Then you must, Roy says so!

BTW: You know what I wish for, an LE set with a bonus disk of Makoto Shinkai's short anime works

This little video is too cute not to be put on a dvd.

I have seen The Place We Were Promised IN Our Early Days, but I haven't seen Voice of a Distant Star. People say that Shinkai is the new Miyazaki, but I think his anime movies are a little bit different from Miyazaki's. What do you think about this, Roy? 5 Centimeters is an example. Shinkai hardly uses dialogue in the movie(He does for a little bit, but there are alot of quiet scenes.), but that does not mean that the movie is bad. I think Shinkai is using it very well. In Miyazaki's movies he uses tons of dialogue(Well for most of his movies with like the exception of Just Yesterday.). But if they meant the quality of the movies, then yes I would say he's the new Miyazaki. They just have different ways of telling a story.

I can't say that he is the new Miyazaki or that I think Miyazaki is better then his work or Shinkai is better then Miyazaki's work. I think it comes down to taste and I care more for Skinkai work then I do of Miyazaki work.

Both men are smart and can make anime movies, but I do believe that some people have over hype some of their work, mostly saying that Skinkai is the new Miyazaki.

I think a lot the reason why Shinkai doesn't use a lot of dialogue in movies is, most of his work started out on his own time and drawn into this computer.

Voice of a Distant Star was fully done on his own computer at home and he and Mika Shinohara (his fiancee, now wife) did the voices in the original version.

I think it work well for him and I guess that is how he wanted to keep it that way as don't having a lot of dialogue in his movies.

5 centimeters pre second is his last work and he plans on not doing anymore films.

Oh come on, he's not doing any more films! That sucks. Oh well. And also he doesn't need dialogue because he lets his graphics, music, and the feelings that come from them do the talking for him. I really liked the song One More Time, One More Chance that was in 5 Centimeters and I also liked the ending theme from it.

Well then whose going to make more anime masterpieces in the film department?! There has to be someone.
