It's about flying and what few aerial battles there are are pretty cool. But, the entire thing just serves as a vehicle for Oshii's philosophical rambling so the characters are essentially his mouthpieces. It's supposedly a metaphor about how terrible and uncreative the animation industry is and how terrible its fans are for continuing to support the crap they shovel out and so on. Also, the engrish has a very uncanny valley feel.

I will.

Violence: It's typical air combat, mostly bloodless save for one scene in the beginning when
a pilot ejects from a tattered aircraft and another aircraft (unfortunately) shoots him with machine guns. There is some blood.

Sex:
A brief implied sex scene with some minor nudity.

Language: Surprisingly, none, unlike most of Mamoru Oshii's other films (and PG-13 films in general.)

Bad Religion: Also none.

Overall this is pretty clean as Mamoru Oshii movies go, and I thought it was pretty thought-provoking, too. I give it 3 stars.

I rented the DVD a week or so ago so I might be able to offer some help.

As far as the violence goes it is pretty tame. What ilikegir33 mentioned is the worst that I remember.

The only bad language I remember was one character taking God's name in vain.(This was in the dub[which I thought was well done] so I don't know what the subtitled version said)

For the sexual content: ( I'm not sure if these would be considered spoilers but I'll do so anyway)
Two of the characters go to a brothel, one apparently goes on a regular basis. At the brothel there is a scene that take place after the fact: one character(a male) is shown sitting in a bed shirtless, while the prostitute character is shown wearing just a revealing robe. Then there is another scene where sex is implied(a character quickly unbuttons her shirt, though nothing is shown)
The only religious issue was the mention of reincarnation:
Though the Kildren(sp.?) are artificial humans/genetically created or something and when they die new memories/ personalities/identities are given to them.(Don't quote me on any of this, I was watching the movie at 2 a.m.) But it didn't seem to be referencing anything spiritual as far as I could tell.
I hope that helps. Overall I still thought it was an excellent movie and the animation was great.

Thanks for the additions. I only saw Sky Crawlers a couple months ago, so I didn't really remember all of it.

Just saw it today. Kinda boring for the most part, definitely not nearly as good as Oshii's other works. I give it a C.
