Good Alternatives To Animenation

Postby mitsuki lover » Mon Aug 28, 2006 12:39 pm

I may have to look for alternatives to getting my anime from Animenation.
The problem is the last couple times I have tried to order I have not been able to get on to the Checkout. This is bothersome and so I was wondering what other good anime online stores there are out there.

Amazon.com or Netflix? Of course, Netflix is for renting.

All of my titles are handled through The RightStuf International. I've been using them for almost 2 years and have yet to have any problems. Plus I would suggest if you make them your primary source of anime purchase the "Got Anime" membership that gets you 10% off most orders (even those on special company sales live Viz's 43% off sale as an example).

Plus when you buy through online dealers, especially folks like Rightstuf, there is a larger percentage of the overall profits that go to the anime companies and distributors so they can keep making more of the stuff we love :-)

RightStuf has a great inventory and good prices, too. I have a membership there. FYI - RightStuf generally lists stuff at 10% below retail. If you join their club, you get an additional 10%. If you pre-order more than a month or so in advance, you will often get an even greater discount.

But, for the sake of balance, I've also shopped at Robert's Anime Corner Store and had positive experiences so far. Unlike RightStuf, Rob’s also deals in Imports, so if you want to pay extra for something not released in the US, it’s a good place to look.

I have been wondering about RACS.The one question I have is do they allow you to pay with check cards? You know what are also called debit cards. That's how I have been paying for the last several orders at AnimeNation.
Though if I did order from them I would probably try the check or cash option first.

Most any online stores will take check/debit cards as long as they display the Visa or Mastercard logo, and some might even take other ones aside from those two :-) In regards to online dealers, debit cards work almost exactly the same as credit cards except that the money is of course being taken from your checking accounting versus being applied to your credit rating. So in other words, unless RAC's has some weird "special" policies, you should be fine using your debit card :-)

I'm thinking of Rightstuf right at the moment for three reasons:
1.Geographically they're closer to me(Rightstuf is in Iowa)
2.Like Animenation they have a pre-owned section where you can get good deals on used DVDs
3.Last but not least they also have a print catalogue

btw:I heard from Animenation and they said if they have my information from previous orders I can either phone in or e-mail my order for now,so that is something to look into, although I will also probably order the Rightstuf catalogue to be on the safe side.

Usually, I have found Overstock.com to have the best prices by far, but they are not an anime store, so you may not find what you want there (or they may not have every volume in a series). Still, I think it is worth at least a few minutes searching through there.
Find me on Steam, PlayStation Network (OmegaAmen), Backloggery, Twitter, and Twitch.tv

I am also in the Christian gaming group, Tribe of Judah in the Christian Gamers Alliance.

I just bought six DVDs from DeepDiscountDVD.com, and I was very pleased with them. ^^ Shipping was free, but timely (you can pay a bit extra to get faster shipping, too), the prices were good, and checkout was easy.

Well for the moment it's moot point as I have to save my money for the time being as I am going to have to have a cyst removed from my Adam's Apple
probably some time this month so will be waiting until that's said and done before I do any more ordering or buying.
