Figure Collecting

Wasn't sure where to put this thread.

Being there wasn't any section for hobbies or anything, I figured just post it here.

Anyone here besides me collect Action figure/Statues/ or things of this nature? It can be either Anime or other.

As for Anime figures and models I've collected:
I own the Ban Dai anime release of Outlaw Star figures

Various Gundam Models & Toys

The complete collection of Samurai X figures (Kenshin, Karou, Saito, & Sanosuke)

All the Metal Gear Solid 2 figures (I count it as anime only because of the artist)

Japanese Godzilla toys and models....

And tons upon tons upon tons of ZOIDS (23 in total)

As for other Figures and such:

Have some Starwars figures

Two Of Stan Winston's Creature Feature figure line

The New He-Man, Skeletor, and Battle Cat

First X-Men movie figures
First X-Men movie Motorcycle box set

13" Figure of X-Men movie Nightcrawler

Various Aliens figures

Lots of original Ninja turtles

Some Grinch Stuff

Few Spiderman figures

Original Reboot figures, as well as a 13" figure of Matrix

Few of McFarlens Movie Maniacs box sets (Alien vs Predator, King Kong, and the T-800 from T2

Have a few Motorcycle models

Emperor Zurg from Buzz Lightyear

Sentinel from the Matrix movie toy line (Not McFarlens)

Jurassic Park toys and models

Green Lantern from the Kingdom Come toy line

And finally a 13" figure of Sauron from the second Age of the LOTR saga.

And thats about it, my room litterally looks like a giant toy chest however, plus I have other memorabilia as well as my own Statues lying around (i've done statues of the Creature From The Black Lagoon, A Carnataurus, a little Rhino, and a Hand that stand on it's own, {ALA Addams Family})

and the thing is I know I'm still forgetting a few items. Ah well, what about you guys? Do you collect figures or am I on my own here?

God bless,
Archan

When I still had the time, I used to collect and paint lead miniatures. Mostly D&D, but some from a few other game systems as well. Generally, I prefer Ral Partha products.

Wow...lets see...I love figures....get lots off Ebay and other local stores and all. Got the whole MG2 series...a slug of FF figures...from 7,8,9,10 and just got my 10-2 set the other day. Spike from Bebop, Wolfwood from Trigun. Starwars figures...and many many many more...lets just say that lots of Steves paycheck go towards little hunks of plastic.

Groovey...

I'm not on my own..awesome.

And Steve, don't think of them as little hunks of plastic, but instead little works of sculpted art. that way us figure collectors can better justify why we spend tons of money on toys huh? :thumb:

Archan, your room sounds like my sons. He collects action figures and all kinds of anime stuff, quite a bit of the same stuff you have, and more. He has two shelves dedicated to Star Wars, multiple more dedicated to game and anime figures and tons of plushies and posters. His favorite is probably his Luffy alarm clock, it sounds like a chicken when it goes off. He also has an Excel Excel standee and Link standee that welcome people into our game room. That's the place where all his overflow goes. :eyeroll:

I collect Gundam models when I get the chance. I used to get the DBZ action figures - I have approx. a dozen or so. That's probably about it for figure collections.

I have a few model kits, all from Gundam Wing and Zoids.

Other than that, I have some transformers, including the new unicron.

I don't collect figures/models, but I do pick one up every now and then if I like it.

I didn't get into figure collecting until I got into anime, and still, I'm not a "completist". I have no complete set of anything, I just get things that I like.

What I have:

I have a Kaiyado Vash the Stampede action figure (Trigun)

A 12 inch tall Dark Vash figure with vinyl coat... (I cuddle this when I sleep at night. Really. Yes.)

One of the series of Trigun mini-busts - sans one figure. My set is Milly, Dominique the Cyclops, Angel Arming Vash, and Knives. The set includes a Legato, but when I bought it, one of the people I was with really, really loved Legato, and managed to weasel me into giving him to her as a gift. I bought the set mainly for the Vash and Knives, anyway. I figure I'll get a replacement Legato eventually if I can find one, perhaps on Ebay, though I've never Ebayed before.

A Lord of the Rings little Ringwraith figure. I got it because...well, I love the Ringwraits. I figured I should have a figure.

Mulder and Scully from The X-files. This was a gift from an action-figure collecting friend who is not an X-Files fan but somehow had them. I'm a big X-Phile, so she gave them to me. Scully lost her cell phone in the shipping, though. Sadness!

Neo from The Matrix

Morpheus from the Series 2 Matrix figures. Birthday gift from boyfriend. I really wanted him because he is my favorite Matrix character.

And the aforementioned friend managed to aquire a Sentienel for me. I plan to mail her a check so she can mail me the figure.

So, that's what I have, though, upon learning that an Agent Smith figure exists... I want it.

OOOH! I have a couple of figures I created of my OWN characters out of Sculpey clay. I have a little figure of L'ayela the wind dog from my as yet unpublished novel (putting some polishing on it... an endless process), and a mini-bust I did of the main character of my webcomic, Quar. The Quar bust actually came as a failed attempt at making a moveable action figure... nothing came out right except the head, so I made a mini bust. The L'ayela figure is just a figure...she has no moving parts.

On the other hand, I have a vast collection of animal bones. I paint them. I have a partial wall with bones I have painted hanging on it and a shelf with bones. My collection includes cow and elk shoulder blades, calf skulls, cattle jawbones, a coyote skull and jawbone set, a full-sized cow skull, and a huge cattle pelvis. I want to see if I can sell most of this collection, as I paint my work not only as a labor of love, but as something I hope to sell to folks who would be in the market for such unique art. In addition to this, I have a calf's skull on my drawing desk that I'm in the process of painting, and a box of cleaned, unpainted bones under my bed. My biggest collection of anything currenty is... bones.

YAY!

More collectors.

True-Noir_Chloe

LOL....sound like your son and I would get along pretty well. Don't worry though, those little pieces of plastic DO come in handy in the future. Some of my collection as already begun rising in price. The McFarline King Kong for example, I bought the thing for $14, however it's going price now is around 25$, and I saw it in a collectors shop for $45....so you can only imagine how much more it'll rise in the future, especially since it's been off the assembly line for quite a while (No more King Kongs were made prior to the original projected release of the figure...that equals BANK!) Also, I can estimate my LOTR Sauron might rise in value as well being I own one with the yellow-orange packaging used for the Two Towers characters, but it's labeled as Fellowship. Not to many of these hit the shelves because when they were released around last year towards christmas, alot of workers went on strike. Now, they re-released the figure but in a blue Return of the King packaging....I predict more BANK! So when your son get tired of his figures, don't sell them in a garage sale...you might have a diamond in the rough in a few years :thumb:

Andyroo

I use to collect some of the Gundam models, but I would get the action figure models, and even then was kinda dissappointed at how small the thing was and how much money I paid ($20-25 for something that turned out to be even smaller then a Soda Can.... :mutter: ) But from what I was told, not all models are that size, so when I've collect all the ZOID possible, I might dive back into Gundam again.

I been meaning to pick up a few DBZ figures, the only thing though is that I dont think they have any real set value...so this dissuades me some. Still, they are cool

Cbwing0

Oh, ZOID ROCK! which ones do you own?

Link Atillies-

do you collect GI-Joe as well?

Ah, Beastwars! I was so nieve when the show and the figures first cam out and now I regret it to this day. The only Beastwars figure I do have is Dinobot (Transmetal 2), and even then I was dumb enough to take it out of the package :bang:

Tet-Chan

Find those transformers! ;)

Haibane Shadsie

Hi! Wow, quite a Trigun collection. Tell me, were you ever able to aquire McFarlnes Vash? It is so rare now and once again, hate myself for not grasping the opportunity.

Also, McFarlane made a Monev the Gale as well. Just incase your still looking for other figures to collect.

Bones huh? Hum, since your familular with sculpy, you might think about replicating prehistoric bones and selling those. Or, getting existing bones and doing the same, this would definately get somebodies attention, would definately get mines :thumb:

Also, just as a shout out to everyone. I found a Di-Cast replica of the Mach 5 veichle...when I find out who the company is that released it I'll give a hoot out to the rest of you.

God bless

No, I haven't gotten the McFarlene Vash. Sadness. I'd like to get the rest of the Kaiyado Trigun figures, though. I think a Legato is in production. Maybe I'll eventually have a cool Trigun collection... and a good Matrix collection!

Now, if only they made Haibane Renmei action figures... though it's not an actiony anime. Then again, I'm weird. There are action figures I know will probably never be made that I would want. Heck, for Trigun, I want a Rem and Chibi Twins figures! On another message board... in a disscussion that started out with a mention of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Michelangelo... I expressed a desire for Master Aritst action figures!

Who wouldn't want to have a Michelangelo, a DaVinci, an O'Keefe, a Van Gogh? Hehehe. If something like that came out, I'd so get them! (Art freak!)

No, but I had a few.

Also, it's not anime or game related, but I also collect dragons and I have a griffon figurine that I really like.

I collect/paint pewter miniatures, mostly Warhammer/Warhammer 40,000..... my home is adrift with little soldiers :-p

I've been eyeballing some Gundam models and such for a while.... and I'll definitely be getting an APU fig from Matrix:Revolutions when I have money :P Also if anyone knows where I could find a Jin Roh model I'd be grateful.....

Haibane: I LOVE bones..... I have a small assortment myself (right now 2 bird skulls, a beaver skull and some assorted vertibrae).

(Would you believe there's a shop near me that has a large portion of its' upstairs dedicated to bins of animal skulls? Cool, but always weirds me out...)

Hey, Elias! Click the first link in my signiture, "Higher Rhlem". It's my art site... Go to the "Bone Art" there. I think you'll like what you see.

I don't have everything I've done on there, though... I have this big cattle pelvis that will not fit on my scanner, for instance... it's one of my best pieces, too... well, my mom got me a digital camera for Christmas (I think), so maybe I'll get pictures of it here soon... I have it up on my "bone wall". If I don't sell it by the time I get an apartment, I think I'll hang that thing in my living room!

I know the little keychains Cephas is talking about! I got a talking Shippo!

Nice :-D those're really cool........

Speaking of hanging things, LOL..... the beaver skull I have has the back of the skull missing..... I keep thinking of making a morbid little planter out of it ;-)

Hey, one of the calf skulls on there is only a partial... and is a candle holder... Actually two of my skulls are candle holders... just one doesn't work very well, and one works wonderfully, and looks all creepy when lighted in a completely dark room... the light shining through the eye...
