I know most people hate it but i'm posting this anyways. This is a few questions for those who like it. Why do you like Yu-Gi-Oh! and who's your favorite character?

I like it...because I dunno. Something about it got me hooked. I think it's Egypt. Or the Manga. Or the original show (before they dubbed it...gah) I love it anyways. It's one of my favorites (I don't caaaare)
My favorite charater is Kaiba. I love him for many reasons. =]

I mainly like yugioh because of the story, I'm not into the dueling. My favorite character is, I don't know, probably Mokuba. And since we're talking about yugioh, I can't find the manga anywhere.

Favorite character? Hmmmm. Jounouchi/Joey is probably my favorite.
As for the Yu-Gi-Oh manga, you should be able to find it in any major bookstore chain such as Barnes & Nobles or anyplace else that has a comic book/graphic novel/manga section. Or you could always find a copy of Shonen Jump someplace. It has some chapters of the manga in each issue.

My fave is Seto Kaiba. =)
- neat gamestrategies (especially in the manga)
- cool characters (+ their designs! Yay for Yugi's hair!!)
- the clothing (Seto Kaiba and Yugi's BC outfit)
- the japanese music is cool
- the story on the surface is not original, but it has its surprises (game king! shadow game! two personalities! Egypt!) I really those are 'fused' in a story... quite incredible.

I doubt everyone is too opposed to Yu-gi-oh. The only prevalent attitude you're likely to run into is the belief it is only for little kids.
Personally, I enjoy it somewhat. But first, negative. Often I feel as if they're insulting my intelligence. Do we really need everything explained to us? Also, if someone plays a better card and attacks, that is not good gameplay. That's playing a card. Stop getting to excited.
Anyway, I do like the parts connected to ancient Egypt, and some of the characters involved there. My favorite character was the Egyptian guy who has the Key and Scales (I should know his name), but that changed after seeing his appearance in the manga. Not so nice of a guy. I'll probably go for Yami, though Kaiba is also up there.

I beleive your talking about Shadi. Yeah, I think he's cooler in the anime. He was more of a bad guy in Season 1(the one not shown in the U.S) and the manga. My favorite characters are Kaiba and Dark Bakura.

Yami Yugi my favorite character- gotta love that goofy hair. But I also to a liking to Maxamillion. Underneath it all, he does have honor...Like when he set free Mokuba's and Grandpa's soul, after giving his word to do so before hte duels, even if it meant never seeeing his wife again. that episode almost brought a tea to my eye

If you're referring about the US dub's dialogue, that can be expected. Dubs geared for kids and edited for airing on a major network like WB don't generally have the maturest dialogue in the world. They will always have to explain every little thing for the kids who are watching. I read somewhere that Pegusus' goals, the fact that he was after the Millineum Items, was explained many episodes too early in the dub.
Did anyone catch the episodes that aired the other day about Yami Merik and Yami Bakura's duel? Seeing two major villians fight was interesting to watch.

The Dark vs. Dark match owned. Not to be a nerd or anything but the only Yami is the pharaoh spirit that resides in the Millennium Puzzle. Yami Marik is a fake name for Marik's darkside and Yami Bakura was a mistranslation from the Yugioh GBA game Eternal Duelist soul. They both should be properly refered as Dark Marik and Dark Bakura(even though Yami means Dark. Its just the proper names)

Well, I'm certainly certain (redundancy intended) that the dub is responsible for quite a bit of it. But I feel that way vaguely about the manga as well, and relatively that way about the one Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh episode I've read (though my Japanese is pathetic).

How many chapters of Yu-Gi-Oh has Shonen Jump published by now?
I might subscribe to it.

Iv'e read some of the manga and watched a couple of episodes back when I had cable tv. I guess i'm reading into it a little too deep, but I wasn't too sure about the millenium puzzle being a freemason symbol and all. Oh well, can't be helped I suppose if the story was based on Ancient Egyptian religion.

To answer MasterDias's question: I'm not sure. However, I'd be tempted to say we're nearing 30 chapters. We're still in the myriad situations that occur before we get to the Duelist Kingdom story arc. Shonen Jump says they still have about half a year of this sort of thing.

mmm... i like the card game. i used to play it a while back. but i got out of it when they started bringing out new booster series in so quick succession to the predecessor. it was getting way to expensive to compete anymore. the anime...i don't watch it regularly due to the lousy dub and the wacky edit job. one of the edits i found hilarious was in one episode(i'm not sure wich one) where two thugs come into a kaiba's little bro's room when he was trying to escape. so the thugs draw their guns on him. but no,in the edit they draw their almighty index fingers on him. run kid run! i still watch it occasionally though. i do enjoy some of the dueling sequences.

You're right, that is pretty funny. There are some great dubbing changes, none of which, unfortunately, I can think of at the moment.

You know, sometimes I wonder why Batman can have guns and yet these anime dubs cannot.

So no one here thinks Yu-Gi-Oh is bad? I'm not sure myself...they have alot of magic going on in there. I know it's all fiction, but I still question it...either way, does anyone here actually buy the cards and duel with them? I have a few times, and it is halfway fun.

Actually, the magic stuff doesn't bother me as much as the "possession" thing... if I was going to can Yu-Gi-Oh for anything, it would be that. But that just might be where I'm at, Shaman King isn't any different and I've been following the Manga in Shonan Jump for a few months now and it doesn't seem to bother me as much... go figure!

Does anyone know if the english Yugioh dvds have the uncut version in them? Because i'm thinking of getting them if they do.

I'd imagine that there are both cut and uncut versions. Why? Because companies like Toonami see where they can make money, and anime companies want to make money and they'll stick UNCUT ORIGINAL VERSION all over the cover. I'd imagine anyway.

I'm pretty sure that the American Yugioh dvds only have the dubbed version that they show on tv and I doubt they'll be putting out an uncut version. I wish they would though cause I'd really like to see the uncut version. Oh well, there's always the manga I guess. ^_^

Actually, not in Yu-Gi-Oh's case. The edited dub's the only official English version available. I read somewhere that Funimation wants to release the uncut version but that 4kids won't let them.

Heck, that one scene in the first season right before Yami duels Seto and defeats him with Exodia, Anzu supposedly drew marks on all their hands, and when they put it together, it made a happy face, right? Ummm... no, in fact, when they put it together in the UNCUT version, their hands formed a Hexagram.
What are you talking about? I don't remember seeing that in the uncut. The only time I saw a hexagram thing in that ep are those lines when Exodia was summoned. I think I do understand where it comes from: Exodia has five cardparts, and the hexa seems to show that as well (the head and body merged). In the dub these are just random lines.
Well, I attached to screenshots from the first uncut episode...

Hexagram? Do you mean a pentagram, or is there something I'm unaware of here? Because the only character I can think of that'd be a hexagram isn't a bad one.
In any case, he's right. The first season or so has little to do with the card game. All but a few of Yami's games end with the death of the other player.
A word on pentagrams: they aren't really pentagrams unless they're upsidedown. Other-wise they're Stars of the Magi. Small comfort, but some.
