Can someone fill me in on what this anime is, what it's about, content, etc?
I saw an ad on the International Channel for this, and it looked kind of good. . .

Lost Universe is made from the same creators of Slayers so you can expect some of the type of comedy from Slayers to be carried over to Lost Universe. But......problem is the Dub is horrible. My advice is to buy the subs.

I totally agree with aznmagic2015. The dub is not worth it--get the subtitled version. I actually own the series because I'm a huge Slayers fan, and wanted to see their take on the space genre. If you've watched Slayers, there are actually some tie-ins to the Slayers universe, which is kind of neat.
The basic premise is that Kain and Milly, along with Kain's AI-powered ship, are out to stop the resurrection of a terrible weapon that can destroy the universe. The ships in the series feed off a pilot's life force, so to speak, though Canal Volfield (Kain's) is benign while others (the weapons) are much more dangerous. The series starts off with a lot of comical, more stand-alone type episodes, but eventually becomes more serious and the continuity between episodes becomes more solid. It's a good series. I don't like it as well as Slayers, but it's definitely worth renting if you can get DVD's with the subtitled version.

Grr, I think the International Channel is playing the dub
They played the subs of all the Slayers series (which I missed much of) but it looks like they're going for the dub on Lost Universe. ^sigh^
