I hope this isn't a dumb question, but are there any anime/manga that are directed for girls? I know that His and Her Circumstances is probably a girl thing, but we all know about that.

Anything considered shojo is directed towards a female audiance generally.

Sailor Moon was a big one. I love Inuyasha because it's both boys and girls, even a bit more girls, it is a girl that writes it! Besides that. Fruits Basket is a great one... but can't really think of anymore

being the resident shoujo guy in my school, I suggest kare kano(m), hana yori dango/meteor garden(they turned this one into a live version teen soap in taiwan), marmalade boy(m), and my personal fave boys be(a) google it.

a question for the grrlz, do you think its pretty weird for a guy to favor shoujo over shonen?
I don't really care much for the violence.

Card Captor Sakura is excellent. Fushigi Yugi is a good one too. I think The Vision of Escaflowne appeals to girls just as much as guys. I would strongly recommend any of those three. And, of course, the aforementioned Fruits Basket is excellent.

If His and Her Cirucumstances is directed toward girls than I guess I like girly anime.

Any way I don't know much about anime or manga. All I can tell you is if find it interesting.

If your looking for manga, look for any Clamp title. Clamp is an all girl manga making team. Some of there manga are Shoujo and I think one is Bishshounen. A few good girl clamp titles: Magic Knight Rayearth, Card Captor Sakura. Those are the only two that I really know of that I read. Both great for girls. You'll probably just have to look for clamp titles.

Sailor Moon
Card Captors Sakura
Magic Knights Rayearth
Kodomo no Omocha (kodocha)
Marmelade Boy
Mars

Um... Despite the all female staff, not all of clamps stuff is for girls... Have you heard of "Miyuki-chan in wonderland"? If find it strange for a group of all women writers to make something like that, that I figure is clearly catering to a bunch of immature teen boys...

Besides that, at least one clamp work I know about is quite Violent, which is uncharacteristic of shoujo manga/anime. That of course is "X"

That's all I can think of right now...
