So if we're free to discuss subject matters completely blasphemous to God as acceptable entertainment, I guess the point of having a Christian forum is nil, isn't it?

Think about what your saying-

"Gee, those OTHER Christians are enjoying that blasphemous, anti-Christian anime and manga, gee, I guess its okay for me to commit the EXACT SAME SIN,"

can also be translated to

"Gee, those OTHER Christians are enjoying POT/TAKING FROM THE OFFERING BIN/CHEATING ON THEIR TESTS, I guess its okay for me....."

There is no magic rule in the Bible listing peer pressure as an acceptable excuse.

It really all depends on what you define as blasphemous. There are people here who would find Snow Fairy Sugar and Cardcaptor Sakura, probably the cleanest and cutest and most family friend anime I've ever seen as blasphemous because they have magic.

It's all about your personal convictions. If you don't want to watch an anime with magic, don't watch it. But you can't really condemn others or call them non-Christian because your personal convictions are different from theirs.

Now, I know what you're going to say in response. You're going to bring up hentai. Now, there's a distinct difference between this series' content and hentai in my eyes.

The purpose of hentai is to inspire lust. That's the only purpose of hentai. So since there can be no purpose beyond inspiring lust in hentai, that's why it isn't particularly compatible with our faith.

Now, take this anime. I haven't personally watched it, but what sins could this inspire you to commit? It sounds to me that all the atrocious acts mentioned are not to be cheered for, they're not to be condoned or applauded, they are meant to be condemned.

I think, if a person can watch this and not feel compelled to go out and be a cannibal, or be a pedophile, or whatever the case may be, and they can enjoy this series as kind of a twisted social commentary, who are we to say they are wrong? If they are not tempted to commit a sin by watching this series, can we say they have done something wrong? The point of hentai is faulty]Lord of the Flies[/i] here), then what ultimately differentiates it?

There is no magic rule in the Bible listing peer pressure as an acceptable excuse.

Likewise, there is no magic rule in the Bible saying "You can't watch a series if it has this, this, or this in it."

I'm not trying to insult you or put down your beliefs, you're obviously sincere about your faith and are worried about watching things that are displeasing to God, and that is commendable and praiseworthy. But again, judging someone else's standards is not our place. It's God's.

I hope I haven't stepped on anyone's toes here, and I hope this thread can go back to a civil discussion of the series proper. ^^

Gonna gravedig here for a minute.

Wow. I dunno what Kai Robin is so worked up about. It wasn't as bad as she said it was. I simply loved Black Lagoon. The characters were real, unstereotypical, and original. My favorite villains must have been the twins, they were simply some of the most well-made villains ever. It's a shame their arc only covered three episodes.

I could only recall 2 or 3 moments of nudity, really. And yes, the subject matter in Black Lagoon is extreme and intense. It is certainly not for a younger audience.

"All of Christian life is ceaseless worship of God the Father, through the mediatorship of God the Son, by the indwelling power of God the Spirit, doing what God commands in Scripture, not doing what God forbids in Scripture, in culturally contextualized ways, for the furtherance of the Gospel, when both gathered for adoration, and scattered for action, in joyous response to God's glorious grace."
- Mark Driscoll

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."
- Martin Luther

"I have to tell you first that I am ready to die. I have put my affairs in order. Your supreme weapon is killing. My supreme weapon is dying, because when you kill me, people all over Romania will read my books and believe on the God that I preach - even more than they do now."
