O_O Yes!!!!! Finally! After waiting for three years for the last season, the anime community will have a small piece of closure.

Oh my goodness!!! A better Fruits Basket ending would be awesome.... This.... has.... given... me... hope.... for... that....

Not that I was a *major* Inu Yasha fan before, but I always love it when both the manga and the anime come to some good closure.

All right! I hated the ending to Inuyasha. It's not an ending if it's a cliffhanger.

There is this window of opportunity to animate the rest of it that they have decided to take, since the manga finished not that long ago.

I wouldn't hold my breath for any other surprise continuations of series, especially ones that date from the 80s/90s.

Yah, but Fruits Basket just ended too...and if Inuyasha does really well the Japansese companies that do other anime that just up and ended, could see how big of a cash cow that would be to revive some of the classics.

I mean they also just Revived Full Metal Alchemist, which has been over in Japan for at least 4-5 years right?

And Eureka Seven just came out with a movie, and that show has been over for about the same length of time.

We COULD start to see a pattern here... not that we will, but it would awesome if they did, right?

Yaah probably just wishful-thinking XD.

Yes, but the manga is ending right now, more or less, so the actual content for the series has been in continuous distribution the whole time in manga form.

Well, you never know. Another example is Saint Seiya. Saint Seiya was never too popular in Japan and the series was cut short at roughly 2/3s of its manga lenght. However, the series was wildly popular overseas, especially in Southamerica and Europe, and more especially in France. The craze for Saint Seiya in France was so long that it maintained a strong fanbase for several years after the series ended until a group of fans released a fan made animation of great quality serving as a "trailer" of the rest of the story. This piece of animation was extremelly well received by the fanbase and is generally believed that it was the trigger that convinced the producers of Saint Seiya that it would be profitable to finish the series, as the announcement was put up shortly after. This happened around 10 years after the original series' run.

This is the most amazing news ever!

Ok, a bit of an overreaction, but I have been waiting for this since the English dub ended, what, almost 3 years ago? Very excited to see this happen. Of course, the dub will take an extra year or so to come over here...but...it'll get here eventually!

Slightly off-topic, but is Inuyasha worth the massive episode count? I've seen 2 episodes, 1 was #1, which was okay, and one was some random one that was so bad I hope it's filler.

Honestly, it's not worth it. To me, Inuyasha got really repetitious. It was the same thing over and over and over again, with a lot of filler tossed in. Granted, I stuck around with Inuyasha for a good part of it's Adult Swim run, but after about the umpteenth "KAGOME!!!" "INUYASHA" "Love/Hate/But Really Love/But Kinda Hate" relationship story arcs, I moved on to greener (and shorter) pastures. I don't think I even saw the "Last episode" of Inuyasha.

maybe there's some hope for a better Fruits Basket and Kenshin ending... :)

I saw Furuba's ending, but I never saw Kenshin's ending. I can say that Furuba's ending needs a massive dose of "Closure" with a shot of logic and a twist of sweet.

Adult Swim had a commercial a few years ago that sums up the story line to Inuyasha in 30 sec.

Yep. That about covers it. 167 freakin' episodes and 4 movies. And there's going to be another season??? Oy.

Aw, InuYasha is not that bad if you can estomach the filler. The plot-advancing segments are quite good and I, having been trained by previous Rumiko Takahashi's works, enjoy aplenty the silly love-hate dynamics. I also believe the love triangle with the old girlfriend that died but now is revived by dark magic and whom death's Inuyasha feels guilty for adds a really interesting dimension to it. It's funny to see Kagome's conflict over feeling jealous of someone that she believes she should pity.

When a show has too many fillers, I'm not going to sit around and watch it.

Plus, InuYasha is DBZ for girls! Nuff said!

I found it mildly entertaining enough to sometimes catch episodes on Adult Swim, but not nearly enough to watch the whole thing.

Plus, InuYasha is DBZ for girls! Nuff said!

Except the manga ran in Shonen Sunday.
I don't know about some of her shorter works, but Rumiko Takahashi's major series have always been either shonen or (like Maison Ikkoku) seinen.
