Has anyone seen this? It seems pretty interesting from what I've read about it. And is there any other anime that includes realistic-ish 20th/21st century warfare? (i.e. no giant robots/mechs, space warfare, cybernetics, laser guns/swords, etc.) The only other one I can think of is Yugo the Negotiator, which is about conflicts in the Middle East.

I have the DVD but have not seen it has yet. From the previews I have seen it reminds me of a live action movie of years ago. The Final Countdown where a modern day US Navy aircraft carrier ends up near Pearl Harbor just before the attack. The F-14s chasing Zeros is the greatest.

Its some what like the movie Final Countdown. But there are no jet places in it for our era.

It has a bit more Sci-Fi to it then the movie Final Countdown.

Ugh, I hated Yugo the Negotiator. The was the first anime I ever saw where I felt like I wasted my time afterwards. I don't really like animes with "expendable crewmen" attitudes though and that one definatly was that way. The only person guaranteed not to die is Yugo since he's the main character. Maybe it would interest other people though.

As for other suggestions.... no mecha? XD That's like not anime then! Full Metal Panic has mecha but it's otherwise very similar to current warefare. There's also Pumpkin Scissors but... that's not really modern warefare more like WWI and it has some wierd si-fi stuff going on.

Oh wait, there is this series about a submarine... something like Blue Lagoon I think it's called. I don't think that one has mecha in it.

This is show is very average/below average. I'd skip and go for something like FMP The 2nd Raid

I already like FMP; I was just looking for stuff that's a bit more realistic than that.

Gaaah. I think you would like the one I'm thinking of but I can't remember the title. It came out in 2006 I think, and is about a guy who grew up as a bit of a vagabond (but he has a twin brother who grew up as a naval officer). I think it's only 13 episodes long. And it's about how the vagabond brother ends up traveling around on a submarine. Good luck finding it with my vague description. :\
