CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

All right, it's getting on towards Christmas, and as that is the case, I figured it's only fitting to have a Christmas wall contest to celebrate!

Here are the entry limitations:

1)Your wall must be Christmas related (duh.) Go all out, make it highly. . . Christmas-y. If I feel that your wall doesn't go with this theme, it may be chucked. (Don't worry, I'm not going to be a nazi about this particular rule or anything, I'll pretty much only chuck one's that are way out there and have nothing to do with Christmas at all.)

2) It must be 1024x768. Entries that do not follow these dimensional guidelines will be thrown out. I hate to be so strict about this, but no matter how many times I give this rule someone breaks it. Basically, at some point you just have to put your foot.

3) The entries must be manga or anime themed. No original characters or video game characters, please.

5) All submissions should be in by December 23rd! That way, maybe we can have a nice wall to put up on the front page for Christmas day (don't quote me on that, though. It depends on if I have the time to do that on Christmas Eve. It would be cool though, wouldn't it?)

6) All submissions should be placed in the wallpaper contest forum.

I am kinda new to this thing. Is fan art of manga / anime sub-culture ok?

Waah!! Sorry I didn't respond to this sooner. Um, I'd have to say that'd we'd prefer you stick to original artwork, not only does it make the contest more challenging, but it also draws a more definite boundary so that I don't have to define what qualifies as acceptable fanart, etc. Anyways, more people need to get involved in this! It's Christmas, guys, and in the spirit of giving-- give a wall to this competition! XD

Absolutely! Any character from an official anime or manga is fine to use, we'd just prefer you not use fan-art, characters from video games, or original characters. That way the playing field is a little more level, so to speak.

Hi gamergirl! Welcome to CAA!

Don't worry, it's not too hard. Just make a wallpaper that fits the requirements, then write me a PM and I'll walk you through posting it on the site. (I'm assuming that posting a wall here is what you're saying you don't know how to do. If you're saying you don't know how to create a wall, still PM me and I'll explain some of it to you and see if I can help you figure it out.)

I haven't entered a wall contest before, so maybe it would be interesting to try this month. I would love to be able to use my own character, but I guess it'll be fun to try and find some good pics of some of my favourite characters and incorporate them into a Christmas-themed picture!

Btw, if you don't mind me posting a question here, how much of the wall has to be our own work? For example, I know there are snowing scenes in several anime; that's what I'm thinking of at the moment. But I'm guessing that just finding an image like that and making it the right dimensions, then posting it, probably wouldn't count. But if you added words of your own, would it count? Or would you need to change the picture slightly, for example add a border and a small icon/image or something to make it eligible?
I'm just wondering about this out of curiosity, mainly. Most likely I'll be changing more than just adding words, but I wonder about this anyway. ^_^

Not that I'm going to enter (Thanks to my severe lacking in certain skills >>) but I'm still curious. And I'ma ask my question in a hypothetical sense, supposing I WAS going to enter.

1.) Does that mean Eureka Seven T1 characters are off limits? Seeing as how T1 is a game. They are anime characters and E7 is an anime, but certain characters appear only in the E7 games.

2.) Could I enter a Shiroi wallpaper? Shiroi is my own story and will eventually be made into a manga and anime.

If it's a video game, even if the characters are anime-style, it's still off-limits. It has to be from an actual anime or manga. There have been times in the past when we've allowed video game characters, but more recently we've decided to stick to just one medium. The more diverse the material you use to create a wall, the trickier these contests become to judge.

Until something actually becomes an official anime/manga (as in published, and sold in stores) it's not allowed for these contests. But good luck with that!
