I need help doing something. My mom got mad over the cursing of the subs of Gundam SEED, so if I want to keep watching it, I have to censor the subs of the curse words. The only thing I can't figure out is how to move the word I want to use to cover the curse into a different position, since it only stays in the center. Thanks

To be honest I dont think WMV is that sophisticated. I did a similar project with Sony's Movie Studio and it took awhile because you have to check frame by frame. I think you need to get into the pro level software to be able to use a filter mask and pixelate out things easily.

Well, I don't think I'll be able to erase the words, I just want to put a word over the words so that it won't be visible.

I suppose you could use return and space to position the letters and hope it works. But WMV is really not suited for anything beyond the most basic editing

Hmm...what do subbers use for their work?

Well the pros have more options. Use something like Vegas+DVD (Pro) ($600+) or Adobe (requires a truckload of money) and you can create subs for a DVD with a program. Lesser programs like Sony Movie Studio ($99-149) can be done (I've used it to cover swear words and nudity) but if the image you want to cover moves on the screen, you will have to shift the object for each frame the objectionable area moves.
I suppose there are programs the fansubbers use to create those crappy fansubs, but I think it presupposes having some sort of video editing program

What's the dub like on these, is it any tamer? Sometimes those subs are really literal, so the profanity shows up, but when translated into context it goes away.
