Help me write a scholarship essay please

Postby Jaltus-bot » Tue Mar 21, 2006 5:38 pm

This is what I need to write.
A biographical statement, including educational background, short term and long term goals, sense of financial planning and community activities. This portion must be in essay of a minimum of 100 words.

This must be postmarked no later than this Friday.

I can tell you about some of that stuff for me, but I don't know how to start. If I just go in order of what is mentioned, then the order doesn't seem very good. Do I just do like a life history narrative of my post high school education and carreer goals?

Do I include former career goals or just what degree I had been going for at the time? I assume I would start after high school? Do I need to watch for saying I this and I that too much? If 100 is the minimum, how do I keep it from being too long? Is there probably a length that would be too long?

Any help would be appreciated.

My personal suggestion would be to write this as a narrative. Discuss what type of education you have had and the type of community activities you have participated in, and then how those tie into your short and long term goals and the type of financial planning you need for those goals. Narrate what you've done, and how everyting ties together. I would suggest trying to keep it as brief as is reasonable, but I would suspect that more than a page of text (double spaced) would likely be overdoing it.

I hate length limits.

One-inch margins, double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font are usually considered standard for essay work at a college level.

I don't know that I can do that.
