History + Developments of Anime

I have the coolest opportunity for any test I've ever taken!

I'm doing an extra exam for my Media Studies Class. It involves three sections: Genre (specifically the evolution of a genre), a New Zealand media issue and technological developments in a genre.

Well - I've been able to choose anime as a genre! I'm very happy about it. However, though I've been able to gather some information on anime using the internet I've got some specific areas I need information on, if anyone's about to help or point to where I can get the info.

I was wondering if anyone can help me with information on the following topics:

- History of Anime
- Developments (style etc. ) in Anime
- Anime + Japanese/Western society (the relationship between the two, how anime reflects cultural values, beliefs, issues, ideas.... etc.)
- Traditional vs. New computer technology in Anime.

Thanks for reading this through. I figured that this was probably the first and best place I could come to for information, or at least pointers to where I could get more info. Thanks again. :)

History of anime can be summed up in four words. Plumberknickle, grasmonger, ignatiusly, stanlet.

Just kidding.

Here's an article that might be helpful. I haven't read through it, but the wikipedia has an article on the History of Anime. This might have many of the answers your looking for. Just don't copy and paste. ;)

From experience, a single source is never considered "enough" for any term papers I've done. But I susupect you already know that.

Yep. We had it very much drummed into our head by history teacher who didn't want to have to fail her students. But thanks for taking the time to make sure. :)

The exam I'm doing isn't based on sources so much as general knowledge of the subject - we don't bring anything but pens and lined paper to write on into the exam room. So I've been using Google in my spare time and reading up on what I can find about the history and developements of Anime. I'm glad I was able to do such a cool topic.

Well... as usual I'm procrastinating with my study but the wikipedia article was excellent. I'm still looking for more sources, though. Thanks for checking up, Talame. :)

Tis true. ;) . The day I stop procrastinating will be the day I actually get something done - not only on time - but early.
