decided to put this here, since I'm asking a question and this wouldn't really fit in the Links section.

does anyone here have an account at Fiction Press, and is it a good environment to post stories and such? I registered an account but I'm pretty hesitant to put anything in it just yet.

I'd be reluctant as well...I've heard so many things about people getting their ideas or complete works stolen.

As to the actual question, though...no, I don't know anything about it.

...

So why am I here? O_o

I have one, and so far it isn't anything bad. Not especially good, either, but it's supportive.

I had one...once upon a time. >> It was so long ago I don't even remember my username. But anyways, I'd personally be hesitant to put anything up that you plan on getting published/serialized for common sense reasons. And the community's so big that I don't know how much feedback you'd get. But that's just my 2 cents.

I have an account, though a little-used one.

My first comment is this: if you want to seriously publish something in any format, don't put it up on Fictionpress. Even if you aren't sure, as a legal matter it is better to avoid that mess altogether.

But other than that, it seems to be a decent environment, though very similar to Fanfiction.net. There are a lot of dumb writers, and a lot of people who only review random stupidness. Of course, there are a lot of really skilled people as well, and those who will provide intelligent feedback. My experience there is somewhat limited, but I got fairly little feedback overall.

Is there any reason that you want to try fictionpress.net, besides the obvious?

The reason why I asked is because fanfiction.net has been directing any and all origianl stories originally posted on their site on to fictionpress. To me, it doesn't contain as much good works as fanfiction, but that's just me. Before you start putting any of your work on the net, you need to look at the site's policies. For instance, if someone chose to copy my stories on Fanfiction, if I or anyone else finds out, one click of the button, and Fanfiction knows about it. Depending on how much is copied, the whole story will be deleted, and a warning notice will be sent out-the notice is sent whether the story is deleted or not. Everyone kind of has to work together here.

On fanfiction, nobody's copied any of my works, and even though they house a lot of members, I receive a lot of feedback, and people have been very respectful. (I've only had one flame per 84 reviews-and I can delete that stupid flame if I really wanted too!). Because of this, I've never seen the reason to move on to fictionpress, although the fanfiction site has a lot of functioning problems.

hmm...it sounds like too much of a risk. I think I won't post anything there. but I really need some feedback on my writing once in a while.

oh well.
