CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

Hey there, everybody.


I'm trying to get an acoustic guitar for my music lessons at school. (They get in the instructor and everything so I don't have to worry about the learning side). The problem is -- I don't know much about guitar brands or that sort of thing.

However -- I've seen an advertisement for a second-hand Alvarez Regent acoustic guitar in good condition. It's 6 steel-strings and comes with a hard case. I'm not sure what model it is, sorry.

So- my questions are:
1) Is this a good/ ok brand to buy? There isnt' much info about it here in NZ (the owner was given it by an American friend) - the other brand I'm looking at is Yamaha.

2) What sort of things should I be careful of/ look out for in a second-hand guitar?

If anyone knows anything that could be of any help, please could you let me know. The main thing about this is time - I've organised to have a look at it in two days, so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry but I wasn't able to update the situation on the guit one second hand with a really cool hard case. It sounds excellent (when I tune it right: my initial attempts have been... interesting... but I'm learning fast). My fingers hurt but it's really satisfying learning the guitar - I'm loving the sound.

Actually - it's a real testimony for God. I asked him a lot that he would open up all the doors if it was the guitar he wanted me to get, and even asked if perhaps I could get a discount if it was the one. I got there - got a discount - and, what's more -- that discount was the EXACT price it's going to cost to put some nylon strings on (I have to get those because I'm doing classical lessons in order to learn to play an accoustic guitar. They were the only ones available at school). The EXACT price. I tell you, I'm really starting to doubt the existence of these so-called 'co-incidences...'

Wow!,That's pretty awesome.I'm glad God opened up the doors so you could get a good guitar and even the strings you wanted at the exact price you were going for.God must really want you to play the guitar.

Reminds me of what happened to our youth group,a Bennigans resturant donated a whole resturant for us to go in and plunder all we can get because it was closing down.The woman in charge said that the resturant has never done that for anyone ever.We are now going to build a youth cafe with all of our findings and we are going to call it Beginagains.Our youth pastors Dog ran away(or stolen)and he was driving down the road and there he was.We wanted to get a basketball court started but we only had half of the cost and some random person just donated what we needed. Yeah I too am starting to doubt these so these co-incidences too.

Yesterday Dad was worrying about having to buy some city water to fill up our water tanks because we've had a long dry spell. Didn't pray about it but this morning God has blessed us with beautiful rain. That's one in a huge line of blessings he's done in my life.

Actually, often the best blessings have been things that didn't happen - like almost having an accident but inexplicably stopping like an inch before I hit a car.... God is good.
