Supers in Chicago

Hello, everyone! This is my first RPG, and I hope that at least a few people will participate! Here goes nothing!

-Story-
The story takes place in Chicago, Illinois during an alternate 1920's. Diesel powered robots, ray guns, and similar pulp magazine technology exists. Most peculiar of all, however, is the existence of super heroes. Super heroes exist everywhere, from people born with a mutation, to people who obtained their powers through accident, to those who use technology to obtain their powers. Roughly half the population have super powers of some sort, though most rely on science to give them powers.

This would be wonderful, but this has also given rise to the existence of super powered criminals as well. Not only that, but groups of heroes and villains have been warring, and the fallout is so bad that the U.S.A. has broken up into territories controlled by certain groups of heroes and villains. The world is polluted, crime-ridden, and an overall terrifying place.

In Chicago there are three groups fighting for dominance in the city: The Kapoots, a group of super powered criminals who want anarchy and chaos to reign supreme, the Red, White, and Blues, a group dedicated to their cause of bring the United States back together, and the Successors, a group who want to eliminate the crime and evil in the world, but want the states to remain divided.

Name: Tommy Harrison
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Alias: (The one.. The only..) Captain Obvious!
Group Affiliation: The Red, White and Blues
Super Powers: Besides stating the obvious, he has super strength, can fly, and he can see (10 seconds) into the future, making him a magnificent fighter (or just gives him more opportunities to state the painfully obvious).
Source of Powers/How you obtained your powers: He always had the "skill" to state the obvious, but when he was little, to put it simply, he fell in to a vat of radioactive liquid after pointing out that it was dangerous to stand too close to the open container. Go figure.
Weakness (if any): As stated below, he is very naive, and is prone to falling into traps. He firmly believes that a person is never fully evil, and can always be brought to the good side. Too bad for him, villains use that bit of knowledge against him. Also, he can be sensitive at times.
Motives for Joining the Battle: He wishes to rid the world of injustice and wrong doing, no matter what the cost.
Personality: He's a typical comic book hero, stopping to blurt out things at the villain and totally ruining any advantage of surprise he would have had, after saving the day he will stop to do his signature pose (fists on hips, cape waving in the wind, head tilted slightly to the upper right and a bleach white smile shining in the sun, blinding poor civilians), he's very naive, says odd phrases, and the list goes on.
He has a kind heart, always stopping to rescue a cat out of a tree, or helping an old lady cross the road. But that doesn't hinder his strength and his strive to uphold what's right and deliver a mighty blow of justice on the jawbone of evil doers.
Appearance: He has black slicked back hair with one curl gracing his forehead (think of superman), light blue eyes, clean shaven face, and is VERY fit, standing at exactly 6 foot. He wears a red spandex suit with blue boots, a white belt, blue cape only attached to his left shoulder and his insignia in white and blue on his chest ( a white C in a blue circle with an exclamation mark next to it)
Bio: Since he was a child he had studied comic books, practicing their fighting styles, memorizing their catchphrases, refusing to take off a Superman costume he had gotten for Halloween, the whole deal. When one fateful day, his parents were killed in a boating accident because they ran into a whale. Since that day, he has had a vengeance against whales, thinking them to be vile evil creatures bent on destroying boats and killing people.
Little did he know that his parents weren't gifted with his ability to see the obvious. The day they had gone boating, it was whale migration season, and those waters were banned from boaters until the whales had moved on. But sadly, they didn't see the signs or understand that the alerts meant that THOSE waters were banned.

Name: Archimedes Bonvulenstienstenston

Alias: The Doctor
Group Affiliation: The Kapoots

Super Powers: He can speak things into reality. For example, he tells you your arm's broken, and boom, suddenly something happens to cause your arm to break, whether it's something falling on it, or you falling down stairs. There are limits though. Like, let's say, he can't turn you into a chicken or do anything that wouldn't happen naturally. Just by looking at something, he understands its inner workings and the exact thing that could break it or fix it.
Also, if he fully says his name backwards in a slow manor, he can turn into his alternate form which has the power to render you unconscious with a simple touch of his hand to your forehead. The severity of the unconscious state depends on the person, whether you're out for seconds or hours.
Source of Powers/How you obtained your powers: After falling severely ill with a sickness uncharted by health specialists, he was forced to create his own cure, a vaccine that was very untested. He injected himself with it, and within days felt an immense improvement. After a week, he noticed odd happenings. Everything he lied about came true, even simple sarcastic remarks.
Weakness (if any): Believe it or not, his main weakness is his last name being said out loud (not backwards, mind you)
To counter his reality making, you'd either have to interrupt his concentration/speech, stay perfectly calm and keep your eyes on him, or do what he just said to him. (Example: He says your arm is broken, you break his arm)
To avoid his alternate form's power: Simply don't let his hand touch your forehead.
Motives for Joining the Battle: After YEARS of people making fun of his name, he decided he was done with it all. With his new powers in hand, he sought out every last person that knew his name, and killed them, along with burning every file that held his identity. He had decided on that day that he was going to take on a new practice. The practice of causing pain.
Personality: He is very pleasant, is ridiculously smart, but has menacing eyes. He has the best manners you will ever see, but has a twisted perspective of life. His jokes are very cruel, and by looking at his twisted smile, you know somethings amiss in his mind. Though just by looking at him and interacting with him, you would never know anything was wrong.
Appearance: He is very handsome, light complected, clean shaven and is built very well. He stands at 5'10", has blond hair always brushed back in a very professional manner, he has gray eyes and is always wearing a white doctor coat with a stethoscope around his neck and blue scrubs underneath. When he transforms into his alternate form, his eyes go from gray to black, and his white coat turns black.
Bio: He was tortured as a child because of his ridiculous name, and has always resented his parents because of it. He grew up to become a doctor because he wanted to show people what he could do and how smart he really was, but his name hindered him. Obviously, his patients and co-workers were incapable of saying Doctor Bonvulenstienstenton, so he shortened it to "The Doctor". But even then, his impeccable doctoring skills weren't enough to rid him of the daily shame and tormenting.

Super Powers: He's a human electric current. He's sort of like Static. He can generate electricity and control it. He can even power electrical objects.
Source of Powers/How you obtained your powers: He was a scientist's assistant when lightning struck the building. He dove under experimental chemicals and was doused with them. They interacted with the lightning and gave him his abilities.
Weakness (if any):
Motives for Joining the Battle: He believes it is better to use his powers for good than evil. He feels he has an elevated responsibility now that he has new abilities.
Personality: He's the deadpan snarker of the superhero team. Kinda like a certain webcrawler...
Appearance: His costume is a black jumpsuit with a lightning bolt forming an exclamation point. He also wears goggles, but they're really just for show. THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING
Bio: Bernard had wanted to be a scientist for as long as he can remember. He got a bachelor's degree at a university but was unable to get funds for a masters. Luckily, a friend of the family needed an assistant, so he got the call.

Source of Powers/How you obtained your powers: Chase is a chemist, but has been working for the Successors from behind the scenes since his mid teens, but at age 19, he wanted to start fighting on the front lines, so he began studying the powers of the heroes he worked with. After months of work, he was able to craft chemicals that would give the user temporary super powers. There are different chemicals for different powers, such as flight, super strength, etc.,
Weakness: The chemicals only last so long, and he never knows how long one could last. He could be in the middle of a fight and his powers could wear off just like that.
Motives for Joining the Battle: Chase joined the Successors due to his fondness of tales about the old knights and heroes, and the Successors offered him the most freedom to be like one.
Personality: Chase is very eccentric, doing things that are out of the ordinary, even for him on occasion. He does, however have moments in which he's surprisingly sarcastic and snarky. Most noticable of all is his borderline obsession with tales of knights and heroic deeds, and he frequently attempts to imitate those tales.
Appearance: Chase is of average build and stands at about 6"2. He has brown hair and blue eyes. His super hero attire consists of a fedora, a zoot suit, a domino mask, white gloves, and a belt on which he keeps several spare vials of his trademark chemical.
Bio: Chase was a child prodigy who earned a degree in chemisty from the University of Chicago at the age of 13. Despite the wishes of his parents, who were supporters of the Red, White, and Blues, Chase went on to join the Successors to fulfill his aspiration of being a modern day hero, and the Red, White, and Blues were too large and too stringent for him to make the contribution he wanted.

Group Affiliatiion: The Kapoots
Super Powers: Can munipulate and produce fire. Her powers can range from fire blasts to engulving her entire body in flame.
Source of Power: When she was just a fetus, she was injected with an experimental chemical meant to keep her from dying from a genetic disorder that plagued her family. On her 16th birthday a lunar eclipse occured which reacted with that chemical giving her flame powers!
Weakness: Obviously water but Electricity severly weakens her power and can kill her easily.
Motives for joining the fight: As explained in her Bio, She blames the Red, White and Blues for her parents murder.
Personality: Shes an observer but she doesnt fear to fight. Shes not a team player and loves the sight of burning objects!
Appearance: Shes 5 feet tall, has super Red hair. She always wears her flame retardant Orange sunglasses. She wears her signiture yellow leather suit with red boots and belt.
Bio: She had the ideal life before her power arose. Shortly after the "birthday disaster" she was sent to a "special camp". She eventually destroyed the camp and returned home. Upon her arrival home she discovered that her parents were killed with only a note left which blamed the Red, White and Blues!

Super Power: Can make others experience worst fears
Source of Power: She is from the future and is a slightly evolved human who can use more than the normal 10% of her brain that normal humans can use.
Weakness: none
Personality: She is an absolutist and believes in Justice no matter what, even if it means torture or killing someone. She's sort of an anti-hero. Because she can use more of her brain, she is extremely intellingent and is the Successor's chief strategist. (is that ok?)
Appearance: She wears a psychadelic costume that also ties into her powers. It can induce hypnosis, which makes it easier to discover someone's worst fear.
Bio: As stated, Joy is from sometime in the future. In the future, the Successors won, but the world has fallen into turmoil because of the "Second Civil War". It is believed that if the Successors failed, the war would never have begun. She is on the team as a fifth column, attempting to change history.

Personality: This guy is crazy. The explosion knocked out whatever sanity was left in his head.
Appearance: He's rather stocky and has spikey hair. He wears a green jumpsuit
Bio: He was working in a top-secret government experiment that went awry, giving him his powers. He also lost his sanity, and now lives only to create chaos.

Age: approximately 30 years of age

Alias: The Gentleman
Group Affiliation: The Successors
Super Powers: Gadgets. Sniper. Stealth. Extensive Martial Arts/Hand-to-Hand/Bladed/Firearms weapons. Reported a small level of super strength and agility.
Source of Powers/How you obtained your powers: It is believed that Edward Gavin was a Contractor from the War, a common man contracted by the government to enhance his abilities to a fraction of other supers for the purpose of military combat. However his experience may show such a history might exist, none such has been proven on paper. Gavin's many gadgets and unique weapons are not the product of his own invention but, rather, that of his younger brother.
Weakness: Apart from limited super ability in the few powers he has, Gavin is also self limited by his own code of honour. Certain activities cannot be performed by him and the slaying of anyone is repulsive to him unless in the defense of the weak and innocent.
Motives for Joining the Battle: Gavin's immediate past, before the war, is a mystery. The reasons for fighting can only be speculated at this time. It is believed that this is in part due to his boredom spawning from his excessive wealth or may have to do with his direct lineage to the Green Hornet and the Lone Ranger. There is, however, a darker reason for his fighting crime, for his code, and for his doing so with the Successors... a reason of sorrow.
Personality: dark and quiet, mysterious, sad. However he is passionate about his principles and moral code. He will jump int the fray without a moment's hesitation. He is Black and White in his principles and believes in absolute good and evil. He also believes that everyone acts upon these absolutes. His is a quest for good and to protect the weak and innocent.
Appearance: The Gentleman's costume consists of a full three piece suit, this being usually a black blazer and slacks with a white waistcoat with black pinstripes, specially modified for combat/movement/and flexibility. He wears a white collar shirt as though he were going to the opera, but with the addition of black gloves and a black ascot. Also, to complete his costume incognito, he wears a completely white mask, overwhich is worn a light pair of dark goggles. Atop his head is a black bowler. Weapons include assorted knives hidden about his suit, a brace of specially modified pistols, of a similar look to finely crafted, light 18th century flintlock pistols. And a hidden sword within the walking stick he carries with him always.
Bio: The Gentleman is just that, a Gentleman. He is a man of honour and his word. Although a man of honour, he can be swift in dealing out justice to any who attack and oppress the weak. There is a point of no return in provoking this man into a rage. Especially when the victims are women and children. Otherwise he is cool headed and calm. His history with the Successors is said to do with a dark past in the RWB where he is considered an outlaw for a crime he did not commit. His history is little known even to the Successors, save that he too bears resentment to RWB for something in his own past. His substantial, international, business empire's financial influence as one of the faction's top three means of support, however, pacifies them for now. The Gentleman seeks justice but he also seeks good and honour to prevail over evil and chaos.

Name: Collin Worth Age: 17 Gender: Male
Alias: “ the Traveller” Affiliation: The Successors
Powers: instantaneous teleportation; “Kill-Time”; and accelerated healing
Source of Powers: Mutation.
Explanation of Powers: The 1st is pretty self-explanatory, by “limited” cloaking I mean that he can blur his outline & appearance but he is not invisible, “Kill-time” slows down time (kind of like the Matrix; also for those of you offended by this name I’d take some suggestions on renaming it), and he heals faster than the average person.
Weapons: Collin carries a samurai katana, a tactical knife, & an XD9 pistol that’s loaded in a pattern {three non-lethal “blanks”, then a special bullet designed by Collin that is lethal especially easy to “bend” or alter its flight path by swinging the gun its shot out of) this pattern is present in the standard 16 round clip 4 times. Worth carries 3 extra magazines in addition to the one already in the XD9.
Weaknesses: electricity and bindings; he can’t teleport easily when being electrocuted or tethered; electricity also slows his healing factor & renders “kill-time” useless.
Motives for Joining the Battle: (In Bio)
Personality: lazy and intelligent with a rather dry sense of humor.
Appearance/Costume: tall and well built, Collin has brown spiky hair with blond tips, deep blue eyes, and a tan complexion. Collin wears a dark digi camo cloak over a black and grey getup with muted gold knee-, shoulder-, and elbow-pads designed to look like samurai armor along with a black and white half mask with a sun pattern on it. He also wears unique boot-like sandals with boiled rubber soles to reduce noise (similar to the sandals from Naruto).
Bio: A few years prior, during a Worth family reunion in the town park, a thug allied with The Kapoots attempted to mug several of Collin’s older family members including his parents. This triggered Collin’s 1st latent mutation (“Kill-time” and accelerated healing) with which he used to disable the thug with a handy rock. This would have been fine, except that the thug shot and killed one of Collin’s cousins and called for superhuman backup to deal with Collin and other gifted family (his father was a soldier who received strength enhancements for the war as well as all of his uncles). The backup arrived and soon a supernatural firefight was underway. In that firefight many innocents were killed and the Red, White & Blues were present but deciding against it because it would “upset the balance” of public tolerance towards them. However, The Successors did help end the fight and chase off The Kapoots which made a lasting impression on Collin. Years later his second mutation was revealed when he engaged in a fight with some classmates who thought he was too smart for his own good. The fight ended with all 5 of the assailants lying on the ground and Collin sitting on his doorstep wondering how he got there.

Name: Anthony Holst
Age: 25
Gender: male
Alias: The Conductor
Group Affiliation: The Red, White, and Blues
Super Powers: has control over sound waves; uses musicial instruments and sound as his weapons
Source of Powers/How you obtained your powers: A child prodigee and son of a famous violinist, Anthony obtained his abilities through his mother who possessed the superhero gene. His whole life has been concentrated on his music.
Weakness (if any): People skills and white noise. <Extreme sounds are his kryptonite...>
Motives for Joining the Battle: Anthony is a classic Renaissance man; he believes in beauty, order, and justice. <No sad story.....a shock I know...>
Personality: Reserved and rather quiet, Anthony keeps to himself and only engages in certain company. He is very rigid in his beliefs, which is his biggest fault. He is quiet-tempered and compassionate towards others.
Appearance:Fairly tall and lanky, standing at 6'0" and weighing 200 lbs. He is fair-completed with dirty blonde hair that is long and well kept; blue eyes. His dress is very elogant, donning a full symphonic tuxedo, a instrument case, and a large music baton.
Bio: Mr. Holst is a very simple man. His desire for a prosperous and advanced nation has lead to his decision to join the Red, White, and Blues.

Name: Yoko Schehera
Age: 21
Gender: female
Alias: Whirlwind
Group Affiliation: The Successors
Super Powers: control over the air and winds
Source of Powers/How you obtained your powers: When a young child, Yoko and her family were swept into a terrible tornado. She was able to make it into the heart of the storm and the trauma of the event allowed her unlock her powers and absorb the great winds.
Weakness (if any): Air vacuums; her temper
Motives for Joining the Battle: Personal revenge and a desire for the States to go back to normal conditions.
Personality: Yoko is very high-spirited, short tempered, blunt, and outgoing. She can be somewhat cynical and has problems with empathy. Other than that, she loves to laugh and to supply it for others.
Appearance:Small and well-built, Yoko inherits her mother's Asian physique standing under 5'5" and weighing roughly 125 lbs. Her hair is short and fashionably wild but almost silver-coloured since the traumatic storm. Her eyes are almond shaped and a deep green color unless using her powers. Her complexion is darker due to her father. She wears cargo pants, boots, a Chinese top with a long sash, a leather aviator and goggles.
Bio: The storm that gave Yoko her powers also took the lives of her mother, father, and two siblings. This is key to Yoko's character, constantly fighting herself whether her gift is a blessing or a curse. She is under the belief that the tornado was an attack issued by the Kapoots.

Name: Wilder

Alias: Beverly Wilder
Group Affiliation: The Kapoots
Super Powers: Her superior intellect
Source of Powers/How you obtained your powers: She was a really good student in school and college.
Weakness (if any): She's very egotistical and has to leave clues all the time, just like the Riddler or the Cluemaster.
Motives for Joining the Battle: She once went on a cat-burglar spree and had so much fun not getting caught she stayed at it.
Personality: As I said, Beverly is quite full of herself and vain. She believes she's better and smarter than everyone else.
Appearance: Beverly likes to wear snazzy clothes. She's basically a female version of The Riddler.
I'm also working on a new member for the Red, White, and Blues. I'll post him later today.

Name: Lady Selenia
Age: 27
Gender: female
Alias: Black Dragon
Group Affiliation: The Red, White, and Blues
Super Powers: The Ability to conjure Fire out of Thin Air, The ability to manipulate what people think sometimes but this ability isn't easily controlled, She is empathic,feeling the emotions of other people and can speak to people telepathically. She can transform into a dragon from the all over dragon tattoo she has on her body.
Source of Powers/How you obtained your powers: She is a 2nd generation Superhero, Her Mother a SuperHero called the Dark Dragon was one of the first people to join the red white and blues in their struggle to reunite the united states. She gained her superhero powers from being born with them.
Weakness (if any): She has a fear of water and occasionally heights
Motives for Joining the Battle: Her mother was killed by her father who was one of the higher up villains within the Kapoots organization. She is trying to find her father so she can get revenge for her mother's death.
Personality: protective of the people she cares about, She doesn't like to see innocent people hurt and hates the fact that the Super Villians in Chicago are hurting the innocent because she knows how it feels to lose someone close to you.
Bio: She considers herself an orphan when her mother died because she has no associations with her father. She knew that one day she would have to face her father but when was the question.
Appearance:
Appearance Note: She looks like the picture but she was born with tiger stripe like markings all over her legs and arms as well as the full body dragon tattoo.
