GM: Greetings, if you are at this page you have just found the list of all technologies used in the CAA RP Of Nations and States: War and Peace. After many members of the RP requested a compendium of all the major technologies in use within the RP Puritan and I (Pascal) wrote up the following work which may used as a reference for actions within the RP. However, I would like to ask all members of the RP and outside to please refraim from posting on this page as it is used primarily as a reference page and not as a posting page. However, if you would like to read through this massive index and use the ideas for yourself in another RP, please feel free to do so! For this is a the end results of all of our hard work... To create ever more exciting new military technologies which we end up using on one another in all out war!

[INDENT]RAGNAROK ATTACK SHIPS (Written by Pascal)

The Ragnarok or Rag as it is sometimes shortened to has been the aeronautical standard of power in the RP for quite some time. Dating back to before the RP began these ships are massive, powerful and fast in their time. Before the RP began the ships were armed with gravitic shields, gravitic maneuvering systems and even gravitic trasport systems… However, at the official RPs advent, these were scaled down, partially to eliminate invisible weapons, but mainly because this variant vanished with their inventor, the scientist Pascal (who died). However, current Ragnaroks are still very impressive, they still hold their massive size, which boasts thick armor (made from materials available to the manufacturer) and powerful cannons (one main cannon and two heavy machine guns). However, besides these main armaments, it is now standard to arm the air ships with ZPEBs as well (EASIs have fallen out of style with the elimination of the futile iron curtain). However, after so much time it has been questioned why the ship has not yet become outdated. Perhaps it is because of its aura of fear that it has gained, but more likely is that no one as of yet has tried. Without gravitic transport, the ship no longer nimbly graces into and out of reality making it a massive target, but it has made up for this in the past by its massively thick armor (making it a hard target) and its speed (with its equally huge engines it can move at an astounding rate of about 1,400 m.p.h tops). Recently though its power is being questioned by the advent of new air weapons of a generally more traditional type throughout the RP world, as a result it is likely to become outdated as a weapon and eventually disappear.

FIREBIRD (Written by Pascal)

The standard fighter jet of the URS, the Firebird uses ramjet technology to fly at speeds up to MACH 3, while this is substantially lower than the R F/B-2 (which can fly at MACH 5) it is still the jet of choice for the URS and is currently being mass produced. This is despite rumors within the center of the URS chain of command that the R F/B-2 is favored in a dogfight. The fighter was designed to be a basic multi-platform fighter capable of meeting the URS’s rising needs and currently carries variety of weapons from air to ground and air to air missiles armed with standard explosives to ZPEBs. However, the aircraft does have one distinct element, that is the ability to drop large amounts of napalm on it’s opponent burning them to the ground in the intense heat. Also like the R F/B-2, the Firebird is also computer controlled, however observers of the two aircraft note a strong difference between R-2 technology battle styles and those displayed by the Firebird, this isn’t to be unexpected as the one was a development of the URS scientists while the other was a development of Pascal.

THUNDERBIRD (Written by Pascal)

The Thunderbird attack fighter is essentially a faster version of the Firebird, except it has a stronger computer with no ability to drop Napalm. These fighters are generally considered medium powered fighters, which are meant to deal with standard world-class military fighters. However, they are mainly left as open as possible as to allow variations to be added on later, making this the most versatile aircraft in existence. In this manner the Thunderbird’s philosophy is to attempt to change its armament as the situation arises, in this manner the plane isn’t as limited as other fighter jets in scope but it doesn’t have nearly the depth of other weapons. It has a maximum speed of mach 5 which places it in the same speed caliber as the R F/B-2 Nightmaric Vision.

[INDENT]PHEONIX (Written by Pascal)

The Pheonix is designed to be an incredibly high speed aircraft, whose main purpose is dog fighting. The Pheonix supposedly can reach speeds somewhere between the ranges of MACH 12 and MACH 24, these speeds are generally achieved by launching the extremely sleek light fighters off of a rail gun platform to give it a starting boost and then it is pushed forth by Scramjet to reach these incredible speeds. However, these fighter jets are still under heavy research because any slight friction at these speeds becomes incredible and can blow the entire plane apart in a massive blast of plasma. Further the only weapons that can be used to add any effect at these speeds are rail guns or other scramjets. But these weapons hold the difficulty that they too are limited by friction. As a result special bullets have to be developed that can withstand the heat long enough to reach their target while minimizing friction. Otherwise the ammo vaporizes before it does anything… Furthermore, missiles on this craft were original proposed until it was found that their destruction (when the missile experienced too much friction) quickly led to the destruction of the plain itself as the debris would make small dents in the surface of the plane that quickly turned into big problems… While this plane boasts speeds that will out rank the Shinsei it is a long ways from its final completion and has many obstacles to overcome.

R F/B-2 NIGHTMARIC VISION (Written by Pascal)

The R F/B-2 is a fighter jet created by PASCAL but currently being mass produced by contingents of the invisible hand. While it isn’t nearly as fast as the Shinsei (Which can fly up to mach 10) it does reach fairly nice speeds of about mach 5. It achieves these speeds from its ramjet design, however most of its speed is lost from friction and weight but it is relatively cheap to reproduce (being designed from free labor (the drones) and it also makes up for this with powerful gadgets and marked maneuverability.

Being an R-2 design the aircraft are all meant to work as a group, in fact they work best a swarm. The fighters are the first to be armed with the ZEBRA defense system, which can be activated via missile launch for a finite period of time (meant to give a short period of advantage). The system works to bring data emanating from the ship and its surroundings to a common level by causing both to emit the same electromagnetic wave types. This makes combat extremely difficult within the swarm itself. To complicate the matter further the jets are computer controlled and see through means based off of the compound eye. While this reduces the jets resolution it also allow them to track rapid motions with accurately and even allows them to detect polarization of light (As can exist in insect compound eyes). This is used as an advantage in the R F/B-2 by having the ZEBRA defense system emit only overwhelming light of certain polarizations, which are mimicked by the planes as well… When the light scatters off a normal fighter in the swarm it will scatter all wavelengths the result creates a different “shadeâ€

This is currently the standard fighter for Temuoplis and Pacifica. Highly maneuverable and utilizing vectored thrust engines, capable of speeds up to Mach 10 and space travel (if properly configured), outfitted with multiple redundant systems for exceptional craft durability, and armored with a light but extremely durable nanocomposite armor capable of shielding against small-arms fire and protecting against some of the effects of missile blasts. These aircraft are capable of such drastic maneuvers that the craft must be unmanned or piloted by cybernetically enhanced humans to allow them to withstand the G-forces involved without blacking out. The basic craft is armed with two MARS gatling cannons, and can be armed with up to 8 Hypersonic anti-air conventional missiles, each armed with a warhead of ~ 5000 lbs or ten 500 lb independently-guided swarming rockets which release near the target, or up to 4 hypersonic ZPEB/Fusion of conventional anti-ground missiles. The craft also contains a heavily armored and pressurized pilot cockpit capable of protecting the pilot from missile damage that would destroy the craft itself, and is powered by NPO-Saturn “Sarovskyâ€

Zero shift technology, or gravitic shift technology do basically the same thing. Through one means or another they instantaneously transport matter from one location to another (while still obeying relativity and not moving back in time i.e. they can travel AT c (299,792,458 m/s) ). However, due to overuse as a shield and because it was used for instantaneous transport of Ragnaroks and other weapons across massive distances, it was later forbidden by planetary law because of destabilizations in space time. However, this does not stop top members of each nation from making use of the technology from time to time including to move huge objects, but it must only be used in moderation to avoid destabilizing the Earth’s temporal field (the new global warming)… This actually happened recently almost ending the RP in disastrous consequences. However, currently it is recommended that the technology only be used by RP players main characters and not by their armies or weapons… In this way it has become a form of fast transportation in the RP. But in certain circumstances it is useless and traditional means of transportation must be used. A variant of this technology is called the Ninja Monkey Puff of Smoke system which is at it’s base an illogical weapon but is used in a similar manner because it has basically the same effect.

A specially designed engine similar to the Atrex design (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATREX) which allows a craft to take off at low speeds with the engine operating as a turbojet and accelerate to the point that it can transition to operating as a Scramjet. This allows the craft to reach extremely high velocities and high efficiencies at full speed.

ZEBRA camouflage is a defense system that works by bringing the defended fighter jet and its local surrounding into a common electromagnetic emission. This system is only found on the R F/B-2 Nightmaric Vision which uses the system to emit specially polarized light, which allows the compound eye based visual detection system to determine the location of enemy fighters by it’s polarizational “shadeâ€

[INDENT]MARS GATLING CANNON (Written by Puritan)

This is a specialty anti-air and anti-armor version of typical MARS weapons, utilizing 40 mm MARS shells tipped with a high-density penetrator such as Tungsten or Depleted Uranium. The weapon fires at a rate of up to 4,500 rounds per minute, although it is generally fired in much shorter bursts to prevent the weapon from overheating. The rounds can be standard or super-cavitating, allowing them to travel through water as they would through air.

[INDENT]SERVEBOTS (Written by Pascal)

Servebots are the standard helpers of Temulin, and no one else. These little blue bots (imagined to be similar in character and form to those in the Megaman Legends Series) do everything from military combat to cleaning up and helping Temulin to create her next military weapon. They are similar in form to PASCALs drones except their primary design was not meant for quick self replication out of scrap metal and were built with personalities and the ability to use weapons.

STANDARD CYBORG (Written by Puritan)

These soldiers form the backbone of the Temuoplis ground forces. These cybernetically enhanced humans have had their strength, intelligence, and speed increased approximately 50% above their normal values. They have also been outfitted with integrated communications devices, information storage devices, monitoring devices, and displays, so proper coordination of a war effort and monitoring of individual cyborgs by their commander is far easier than before. They are hearty, strong, and extremely effective infantry, capable of taking wounds that would kill normal infantry and surviving, carrying larger arms and more ammunition than regular forces, and moving at rates surpassing other comparably sized mechanized infantry forces in the world today. Improvements in their digestive systems allow them to use almost any organic matter for food, and they are all outfitted with emergency brain-support devices that can keep the cyborg’s brain alive in case of massive injury or blood-loss. They typically carry a heavy traditional weapon (i.e. a machine gun, heavy sniper rifle, or similar weapon, all standard for today), a Rocket Launcher (modern standard), a Promethium flamethrower, or a MARS weapon, and are usually outfitted with basic cyborg armor, although certain strike teams and specialty troopers are outfitted with cyborg power armor.

SCOUT CYBORGS (Written by Puritan)

These cyborgs are enhanced versions of the Standard Cyborg, modified with survival, stealth, and speed in mind. Each cyborg has been outfitted with new circulatory systems, energy storage systems, enhanced biomechanical muscle systems, and enhanced biomechanical digestive systems. These enhancements allow the cyborgs to survive for weeks or months on stored energy alone, resist most poisons and biotoxins, and move at about twice the speed of standard cyborgs. They are typically outfitted with advanced sensors and listening devices to enhance their scouting abilities, and often given mission-specific devices for gaining covert access to information or facilities. They are usually outfitted with adaptively camouflaged armor, and armed with silenced sniper rifles, silenced automatic weapons, or similar stealth weapons, and generally armed with a nanoreinforced knife for close-in stealth work.

PILOT CYBORGS (Written by Puritan)

Standard Cyborgs outfitted for high-intensity flight work. Their enhanced circulatory systems and mental interlink with the fighter allow them to excel at piloting, although their strength and speed are normal. They are modified to allow them to survive in low to extremely low pressure (vacuum) conditions far longer than the typical human, and they have a large internal reservoir of oxygen for use in these conditions. They are typically armored in a simple flight suit, capable of stopping typical shrapnel from air and space battles and capable of further shielding the cyborg from the vacuum of space. They are typically armed only with a MARS pistol for self defense if shot down.

Ghouls are the standard infantry of the undead army, basically they consist of the dead that would remain in peace… They do not flinch when hit and display extraordinary strength having no concern for their own well being. They exist in massive hordes now that have spread across the world, but they only started out as a small nuisance. Each herd of these creatures requires a “kinetic symbolicsâ€

WEAPONS-LAND

[INDENT]R-2 Guns (Written by Pascal)

These are the main weapons created by PASCAL the supercomputer once bent on world domination. The weapons are not spectacular in their ammo or in their simplicity, but rather they build up their power through information. Therefore a single unit armed with R-2 technology is rather weak, but a mass of units in a spread is incredibly powerful. This was made possible because of the collective consciousness which PASCAl held over his own units, creating an advanced battle unit whose primary advantage was information and the ability to adapt to that information. So far in the RP, there were several types of weapon prototypes created, however at this point there is no knowledge as to how many of the weapons are actually in existence (if any exist at all) for none but the URS and PASCAL ever knew of the weapons existence. The term R-2 reference to the second revision of weapons originally created by the scientist Pascal, in particular they denote a new more advanced military concept and philosophy than his first generation weapons which were mostly noted for their mass power output and manipulation of now obsolete gravitic technologies (also forbidden in the RP by the point). Most of the technologies can be seen on the following page and beyond. All R-2 weapons are also robotically controlled which gives them the advantage that operation of the weapons requires a massive key code to fire and they do not have any mechanical triggers, they are purely cable operated. As a result it is impossible for the opposing force to make use of these weapons even if they get their hands on one.

R-2 Black Wind: This is the standard military sniper rifle developed by PASCAL. The sniper rifle itself guided and manipulated the bullet trajectory during its movement down the chamber of the gun. The gun itself is aimed and the information used to guide each bullet is also sent through the user itself. Each sniper unit is designed to gather electromagnetic field data, gravitational field data, wind velocity and multiple target location (with respect to time). These data sets are collated the net consciousness through quantum encryption as each unit concludes a proper trajectory for the rifle to fire with. If the target is moving in a semi-chaotic manner, multiple units may fire simultaneously with bullet quantities used according to the object importance presumed of the target. These are of course each coordinated to create a spread so that the object is likely to be hit by one of the bullets. However, most of the time this isn’t necessary because most objects appear as if standing still in respect to the speed of the sniper bullet. However, for longer distance the network is incredibly important to predict sudden wind gusts (which can be predicted for large spreads of units).

R-2 Maelstrom: This is a basic small machine gun, it holds none of the network advantages and is mostly used to create a massive amount of damage for short range targets. The gun is duel barreled with digital firing mechanism that allow 500 rounds per minute to be fire, creating one single quick burst for tearing apart an opponent, but timed signals controlled by the computing unit on the user can cause it to fire with varying frequency.

R-2 Hopes Fading: This was the main machine gun for PASCALs army, its major advantage was the ability to change the “spreadâ€

These weapons are a part of the Temuoplitan arsenal but not used except for specialty situations. They consist of a series of nanoreinforced blades mounted on a high-strength chain which runs along a track on the edge of the sword at high speeds, powered by a replaceable power cell. In essence, this is a sword-style high-tech version of a chainsaw, another extremely nasty weapon intended primarily for use against the undead and possibly lightly armored vehicles. Its use against regular infantry is currently prohibited by Temuoplis.

QUENCH GUN (Written by Pascal)

The quench gun is essentially a superconducting weapon meant to fire shotgun projectiles. As it was never used its abilities remain unknown to all nations except those that designed them. All that is known is that it was created by Temuoplis.

This is a superconducting coilgun capable of firing metal rounds at targets with extremely high velocity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coilgun#Superconducting_version). The Quench Cannon requires supercooling and electricity, both supplied by the vehicle’s power plant. These are typical flamethrowers utilizing an improved version of Napalm-B (i.e. Super Napalm). It sticks to targets and burns for upwards of 15 minutes, and is an extremely nasty weapon. The energy arc cannon is one of the primary weapons for the Wolf Angriff Battlelearmor. This weapon is a particle beam cannon, it uses heavy particles accelerated by stronger electromagnetic fields to cause an increase in entropy and heat within it’s intended target. Generally these mechs carry only 7 charges for this weapon and it is currently limited to only 125-200 meters at which point the beam become ineffective because of blooming. However, besides causing heating to their targets, the weapon also causes heating to the craft itself.

This tank is the backbone of the Temuoplitan ground vehicles. It is a three-man tank armed with a Quench Cannon powered by an armored Optoelectric nuclear battery (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optoelectric_nuclear_battery) and armored with reinforced Temultanium armor. This technology makes the T-100 a very hearty tank with a high-powered and extremely long range weapon, and also greatly reduces the need for tank refueling. Tank speeds are somewhat higher than modern tanks, giving this tank a road speed of about 85 km/hr. The design of the armor around the battery mitigates the hazard of radioactive contamination.

BTR-95 ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIER

This APC is designed to transport cyborgs into and out of battle, and as such is faster than the typical tank, capable of speeds of 120 km/hr. However, the armor on this tank is comparable to that on a Power Armored cyborg, and as such is not capable of stopping tank-piercing rounds, but is well suited to protecting the transported cyborgs from small-arms fire. The APC is armed with a small Quench Cannon, and is powered by a generator similar to that of the T-100.

WOLF ANGRIFF BATTLEARMOR (Written by Pascal)

These are nuclear powered battle armors which first appeared with Daedalus in his descent into the Sahara dessert. The units stand 8 feet tall and at full sprint can reach speeds of 70 m.p.h. . These suits are generally piloted by biologically manipulated pilots for some reason, however what that reason is, is not yet clear. At there base core, WABs are mech units or bipedal attack units. These units are usually armed with one of three weapons, a melee attack claw (sharpened blades on the arms of the mech), 0.5 caliber sniper rifles (meant to attack ground or lightly armored ground units) and Energy Arc Cannons.

This technology was originally used by Temuoplis but later Pacifica developed it’s own system (ad hoc) called the battle shield. In the end the technology is based off of increasing the electrical bonds between atoms creating stronger materials… However the technology became obsolete with the use of EASIs and eventually both were eliminated.

ZERO SHIFT (Written by Pascal)

Zero shift technology, or gravitic shift technology do basically the same thing. Through one means or another they instantaneously transport matter from one location to another (while still obeying relativity and not moving back in time i.e. they can travel AT c (299,792,458 m/s) ). However, due to overuse as a shield and because it was used for instantaneous transport of Ragnaroks and other weapons across massive distances, it was later forbidden by planetary law because of destabilizations in space time. However, this does not stop top members of each nation from making use of the technology from time to time including to move huge objects, but it must only be used in moderation to avoid destabilizing the Earth’s temporal field (the new global warming)… This actually happened recently almost ending the RP in disastrous consequences. However, currently it is recommended that the technology only be used by RP players main characters and not by their armies or weapons… In this way it has become a form of fast transportation in the RP. But in certain circumstances it is useless and traditional means of transportation must be used. A variant of this technology is called the Ninja Monkey Puff of Smoke system which is at it’s base an illogical weapon but is used in a similar manner because it has basically the same effect.

Designed for use in close-quarters fighting or environments requiring the heaviest weapons, this armor is a suit of Temultanium that can stop practically all small-arms fire (i.e. regular machine guns, rifles, and pistols) and slow or deflect heavier fire from high-powered sniper rifles or heavy machine guns. It is so heavy that the suit contains its own power supply, which is generally recharged off of the enhanced cybernetic systems of those who wear this armor. Troops wearing this armor generally require twice or more the amount of food of typical cyborgs. A power-armored cyborg can carry massive amounts of weapons and ammunition, and have even been known to fire tank-standard cannons, although this is unusual. Unfortunately, this system slows the user down to speeds 80% of that of a typical human, making this armor more suited to frontal assault than hit-and-run attacks.

The Orion class spaceships are essentially massive ships (up to the size of a small city) which are lifted from the Earth using fusion weapons as a source of propulsion. These massive ships were used to transport huge amounts of supplies by Temuoplis and now Pacifica into space and even to Mars at high speeds, and currently a base has been constructed on Mars… However other than a new space based colony presence they are nothing more.

The Orion class vessels are super-heavy spacecraft. Weapons and armor vary from craft to craft, but all are powered by the Orion Drive, a system of pulsed nuclear propulsion utilizing Fusion warheads. These craft have a maximum speed of around 0.1 the speed of light with typical Temuoplitan fusion weapons. The craft scale in size from a small Orion vessel, ~17 meter in diameter and capable of lifting 300 tonnes to orbit, to the Super Orion vessel, over 500 meters in diameter and capable of lifting upwards of 10,000,000 tonnes of material.

DROP PODS (Written by Pascal)

Landing pods serve one primary purpose, quick cheap insertion of units to points on another planet without damaging the unit. However, due to the RPs earth-based interactions, landing pods have been basically ignored as a technology. However recently they have been used by the new scientist Daedalus to bring a small number of forces to the Sahara Dessert in his arrival. His particular drop pods were titanium frames that were defended against severe shock by spring contacts. This surface was then coated with a layer of ceramic tiles (similar to the ones used on the space shuttle to avoid heating from the atmosphere, for that matter he also claims that the surface is immune to electrical current which isn’t a far shot as ceramics traditionally lie within the realm of being bad conductors, however they also hold some of the worlds best type 2 superconductors including YBCO and BISCO. Between the aluminum cage and the heat shield there exists another layer of carbon-type shielding, however this shield defends against aggressive actions taken by an outside part (like bullets or missiles striking the pod)… However, research has shown that this shield is not perfect and can be destroyed by quite a few means (In fact bullets of sufficient mass and power can pierce straight through killing the pilot inside or extreme heating can cause damage to this shield.

PHEONIX (Written by Pascal)

The Pheonix is designed to be an incredibly high speed aircraft, whose main purpose is dog fighting. The Pheonix supposedly can reach speeds somewhere between the ranges of MACH 12 and MACH 24, these speeds are generally achieved by launching the extremely sleek light fighters off of a rail gun platform to give it a starting boost and then it is pushed forth by Scramjet to reach these incredible speeds. However, these fighter jets are still under heavy research because any slight friction at these speeds becomes incredible and can blow the entire plane apart in a massive blast of plasma. Further the only weapons that can be used to add any effect at these speeds are rail guns or other scramjets. But these weapons hold the difficulty that they too are limited by friction. As a result special bullets have to be developed that can withstand the heat long enough to reach their target while minimizing friction. Otherwise the ammo vaporizes before it does anything… Furthermore, missiles on this craft were original proposed until it was found that their destruction (when the missile experienced too much friction) quickly led to the destruction of the plain itself as the debris would make small dents in the surface of the plane that quickly turned into big problems… While this plane boasts speeds that will out rank the Shinsei it is a long ways from its final completion and has many obstacles to overcome.

Highly maneuverable and utilizing vectored thrust engines, capable of speeds up to Mach 10 and space travel (if properly configured), outfitted with multiple redundant systems for exceptional craft durability, and armored with a light but extremely durable nanocomposite armor capable of shielding against small-arms fire and protecting against some of the effects of missile blasts. These aircraft are capable of such drastic maneuvers that the craft must be unmanned or piloted by cybernetically enhanced humans to allow them to withstand the G-forces involved without blacking out. The basic craft is armed with two MARS gatling cannons, and can be armed with up to 8 Hypersonic anti-air conventional missiles, each armed with a warhead of ~ 5000 lbs or ten 500 lb independently-guided swarming rockets which release near the target, or up to 4 hypersonic ZPEB/Fusion of conventional anti-ground missiles. The craft also contains a heavily armored and pressurized pilot cockpit capable of protecting the pilot from missile damage that would destroy the craft itself, and is powered by NPO-Saturn “Sarovskyâ€

ROBOTIC DRONES (Written by Pascal)

These are basically robotic devices meant to do the work that would normally be done by human workers… however, they have the advantage that they are fast, they are accurate and they never get tired. The devices began to appear in mass number when PASCAL built one such robot and then released it in the metal rich fertile ground of the URS… The land was littered in debris from previous civil wars that had raged across the region giving the robot ample materials to build that which it pleased and what it built was another robot, one every half an hour. The process was incredibly efficient but it was started at the end of the day when no one would notice, but by morning (if everyone would have went as planned) there would be billions of these robots, and by the time people started yelling about them… they would outnumber the human beings on the Earth. However, because such a ruckus was made, they were limited back to the millions. However, they were later destroyed by Kaligraphic in a single strike through use of his arcane arts. However, it would have seemed as though they had all vanished. But with the advent of PASCAL’s technology in the URS, they are now outfitted with glowing surfaces (which eliminate the shadows that Kaligraphic used the first time) and work rather well in once abandoned mines (which were abandoned because of their instability not because of their lack of resources). Here the robots began to grow once again in numbers and have currently been used for military purposes in the URS, but now that these are complete there are even plans under ways to use the robots to create highway structures and to increase the infrastructure of the nation.

GM: This is an appended section to the previous to show additional technology and weapons that have been added into the RP as of November 22, 2006. The prior update was only accurate at the point of July 1st 2006, this was added to show recent RP growth in this time period.

FIGHTERS/BOMBERS-AIR

Ragnarok R-2(Written by Pascal)

The Ragnarok R-2, was originally developed by the physicist Pascal during the during the era after the fall of Temulin. Though the ships theoretically date back to before the RP began as well, their technology was not bought into being until well into the RP, with the first test run done by the then secretive Aether Empire, which also worked out any of the bugs that were placed in the designs under the guide of General Alexander AKA PASCAL. The airship class fighter bomber is really how this craft should be described, although it is only 2/3 the length of the original Ragnarok (R-1). However, this decrease in size was added as a positive not a negative feature. The Ragnarok R-2 outclasses the original Ragnarok in almost every feature, even though it lacks the gravitic technologies that were originally implemented. Generally, this change was out of necessity as gravitic weapons threatened to collapse the space time continuum around the Earth and end all life within the solar system. The primary cannon of the original Ragnarok has been replaced by a sonic cannon for atmospheric models which tears it’s opponents apart with heat and vibrations induced by acoustic resonance, (can be amplified via resonant alignment of Ragnrok shockwaves) or an ion cannon for space models. Both weapons are slightly less powerful then the primary cannon of the original Ragnarok, but the sonic cannon in particular is more pervasive, with phonon traveling through walls and other structures that would normally stop the R-1s shell. The twin machine guns have been replaced with twin scram cannons, which have a slower firing rate, but their projectiles have an increased velocity (scram cannons can fire their projectiles beyond the typical Mach 5 limit that reduces the impact energy of most weapon projectiles). The craft can carry between 8-12 meteor missiles, which can fly at a max speed of Mach 4. The craft itself is generally limited in speed to approximately Mach 3.5 but can burst to speeds as great as Mach 4.5, which is one of the great advantages of this craft over the far slower Ragnarok R-1 (which could only move at speeds of about Mach 2). Ragnarok R-2 like the R F/B-2 is also equipped with 4 optional rear firing missiles, to allow both front and rear protection, and it is generally computer controlled, although manual control craft are in existence. The visual targeting system uses the 4-sight observational technology which lightly monitors any detectable reactions from the four fundamental forces, however, electromagnetic radiation from across all spectrums is generally the most useful because of it’s abundance and strength. As a result of this system, and the prior rear firing system, it is generally better to approach the Ragnarok R-2 from the side instead of the rear or the front to avoid missile fire from it’s launch systems, and it can also be used as a scouting vehicle because of the 4-sight system. A final note concerns the engine vector control system and the armor of the Ragnarok R-2. While the Ragnarok R-2 lacks the thick armor of the original Ragnarok (R-1) for speed and maneuverability purposes, it has replaced this with the technology of reactive armor. This armor, is a controlled explosion at the point where the impactor or missile is approaching the aircraft and is meant to both direct the aircraft safely away from the impactor and to reduce the energy of projectiles coming from the impactor fragments. Generally this is not utilized against flak or machine gun fire, a thin layer of diamond aggregated nano-rod material is in use for that defense purpose. Instead, the reactive armor is used to defend the craft against lighter conventional anti-aircraft missiles, which will tend to knock the aircraft around, but do to the reactive armor, it will generally take several shot to take a Ragnarok R-2 down. Meanwhile, craft stability and maneuverability is controlled by six controlled pulse thrusters. These thrusters emit a variable amount of fuel to create functional impulses in computer controlled vectors, which allows the Ragnarok R-2 to perform acrobatic feats generally done by smaller more maneuverable fighters in the world. However, this has come with a limitation to speed, as the aircraft cannot fly as fast as the ultra high speed craft of the URS and the Imperium.

RAH-90

The RAH-90 is the standard attack helicopter in use by the Aether Empire, generally it has a semi-thick armor of diamond aggregated nano rod plates, and is kept in the sky by a pair of rocket thrusters, however, no great amount of technology beyond advanced electromagnetic detection systems were invested in the RAH-90. Generally armed with a heavy machine gun, and side rocket pods, it’s not something you would want to run into in a back alley, but it’s hardly the heavy hitter in air combat and is mostly used for general search and destroy missions as a mass produced chopper. However, the helicopter does have the advantage that it can fly at about Mach 1.2 for long distance missions, allowing it heavy versatility as a call on demand cheap air support unit.

A creature whose body is made of vaporous materials. This makes it immune to any attack that isn't an arcane art. They attack their opponents by utilizing their control over air. They are sort of like Lotan but much weaker in their control though in large numbers they can cause whirlwinds and other powerful gusts of wind.

This dragon controls the very elements of the storm. They can shroud themselves in clouds, breath beams of lightning or ice, they can send blasts of wind at their opponents at hurricane forces and their roar is as loud as thunder. They are fast (for dragons and other winged creatures...), they are ruthless, they are tough thanks to their armor of dragon scales (which historically can withstand almost anything...), and they are smart, allowing them to formulate and execute strategies that many humans might not of been able to think of.

Diamond Aggragated Nanorod Plates

This is the primary form of defense used by most units of the Aether Empires heavily armored forces. While the Imperium prefers to use it mass stockpiles of specially crafted Temultanium, the Aether Empire use Diamond Aggregated Nanorod Plates. These plates, while harder than type 2 diamonds are not as difficult to dent as Temultanium, yet slightly heavier as well. Even though the Aether Empire has made improvements in their development of Temultanium, the material still eludes them and they are forced to use only the stockpiles left on Earth by the Imperium forces as they left for mars. In the meantime, this material does more than enough to protect their forces from any form of small to medium powered arms fire.

The XM-9 is the standard issue machine gun for all non-direct connection units who purchase their arms from the Aether Empire. Generally, it is a standard machine gun meant to replace the XM-8 which was used by the URS and could be considered the standard military rifle for the UN ground forces not in the Aether Empire itself (The Aether Empire uses direct connection technology, look at R-2 tech). The rifle has many varieties, from clip loaded burst firing units, to chain bullet varieties. The rifle can fire at a rate of 2,700 bullets per minute and overheating is reduced by use of a ceramic nanorods and liquid cooling units. The weapons also uses anti-vibration firing for accurate shooting, with each pulse fired blast being phonon-wise 180 degrees out of phase with the last to cancel out vibrations to good order within the weapon. Due to the UN’s close relations with Anarchy INC. the weapon is often equipped with various technology developed by the weapons manufacturer to improve the performance of the technology including colored tracers and advanced cooling mechanisms.

PEP, Pulsed Energy Weapon (Written by Pascal)

The Pulsed Energy Weapon was an idea originally created by the united states to deal non-lethal force in combat situations. An invention of the Alliant Technosystems, this laser based weapon works by firing an invincible laser pulse towards it’s target which upon contact causes a small portion of the skin to evaporate into a small amount of plasma… The result is very painful and the sound and shockwave created disorientates the users hit by the weapon. While it was thought to have become lost with the destruction of the US, the weapon systems still existed and were download to your factories where they have been produced to the numbers specified. The weapon itself weighs about 230 kg and is effective up to 2km… Non-lethal weapons such as this are generally not used by the Aether Empire, but were used in the invasion of Greenland for Hakaii effectively.

PHASR

The PHASR is a handheld weapon to be used by our primary light attack forces. It is a non-lethal laser dazzler type weapon designed by the US department of defense at Kirkland Air Force Base. This weapon works by temporarily blinding its target using duel wavelengths of laser light, and thus is non-lethal. Further, do note that the blinding effect is generally temporary.

The ADS is a non-lethal force weapon that works at 95 Ghz. This frequency is too low to cause deep skin penetration effects, but at the surface it can heat human skin to 130 degrees Fahrenheit making it unbearable to fight under, once the beam is left though it returns back to its normal temperature and the pain goes away. This was also used along with the PHASR and PEPs to take over Greenland for Hakaii by the Aether Empire.

Ninja Monkey Robots (By Peanut)
They are quite simply robots made in the likeness of Ninja Monkies and they serve as the URS's basic infantry. They were originally built to replace humans on the battlefield and now they rule over them. All Ninja Monkey Robots are armed with a cloaking device, a sword, and either Metal Storm Technology or a miniaturized version of the Arcane Energy Cannon.

The basic infantry of Peanut's Army. These creatures are half human, half dragon, and they carry a large sword which they use to great effect, they are also insanely strong though not as strong as actual dragons. They use arcane energy to breathe fire and teleport around via puffs of smoke.

Golems (By Peanut)

These large creatures are lava brought to life by arcane magic. They can raise and drop their skins temperature. When the temperature is hot enough for their bodies to become molten, they loose their form and are able to move with incredible speed, but their intensive heat makes it hard for ally units to stay nearby them. When their temperature is cooler, they are slower but they can fight along side other ally units and they can barrage targets at a distance with large fiery spikes which they fire from their backs, in their molten form, they fire giant fire balls. These spikes explode on impact causing mass damage and spreading lava over nearby units. They can also deal massive damage in close range combat.

Note: Loki uses a variation of the lava golem called an iron golem, thus two sides use the unit currently though they differ in their abilities, they are essentially the same form of unit.

Electric Reactive Armor (By Pascal)

This is the Aether Empires answer to space bombardments via kinetic weapons… a ultra black technology that is rather simple in design however it will provide a nasty defense system The armor basically consists of large hexagonal plates placed about 1 meter apart and which cover the entire ground of a military facility, the top and bottom plates are independently connected to opposing charges in a massive capacitor bank which is quickly recharged via ultra large ZPE generators… These facilities are held underground below the plates themselves (which are on the surface)… Then to insure that dielectric breakdown doesn’t occur each plate is separated from the others by non-conducting rectangular plates and the inside of this extended hexagon is evacuated to produce a vacuum in between… then the capacitors are charged and the system is ready to go. To avoid energy leaking off into the air a third layer of non-conducting material can be added above this (also avoid nasty situations when rabbits touch one of the outer plates and the ground at the same time…zzzapp)… The system actually has duel abilities that work against kinetic weapons and high powered energy weapons. For kinetic weapons the prime length (that which is longest) must be perpendicular to the surface of the Earth to minimize friction (lest it burn up in the atmosphere) thus when it flies in at its incredibly high speed it will pierce the surface non-conducting plate with great ease and will then pierce the second plate (changing the rod and the plate to the same high voltage)… As it continues unabated by these two obstacles it will then contact the other rod and the circuit will complete, even the air around the rod will discharge as well (making non-conducting rods useless) and the resulting heat from the massive instant discharge will be distributed across the entire rod which is already critically hot from its orbital entry. As a result the lethal kinetic energy in the rod is transformed into a far more dispersive plasma that can burn away a great deal of matter but is hardly as deadly as a nuclear sized kinetic explosion as the plasma will deform upon impact with little explosive effect compared to the kinetic blast. At the same time, a laser weapon blasting through will certainly have the advantage of an evacuated tube to travel down (which is standard for Pacifica lasers) but at the same time it will ionize the air around the sheath of the laser. This ionized air can act as an incredible conductor for electricity and as the laser quickly burns through the top layer it contact the excess electron bank in the capacitors and the electricity can flow straight up the sides of the laser. Try this with an airplane and your plane will explode from the massive burst of energy released back into the laser system. But for space based attacks it primarily excite the air around the laser so that the pulsed system that keeps the laser sheath evacuated fails and the laser simply blooms out shortly after contact with the upper plate is made… this continues until the laser is turned off as the air will continue to be ionized and as such energy from the recharging capacitors will continue to flow in mass down sporadic bursting laser.

Servitors (written by Puritan)

Servitors are cybernetic robots built around the minds (and possibly some of the body) of vat-grown animals. The brains are "programmed" through cybernetic training mechanisms, allowing the animals to be trained for many tasks in a similar amount of time as a robot can be programmed. The advantage of these creatures is that the base components of the servitors use organic matter rather than metals, and the tech needed for the vats is far less than that needed to make computerized "brains" of similar complexity. Genetic engineering has improved the process a hundred-fold, creating creatures that can be grown quickly en-masse with brains prefect for imprinting. Once the creature has been "programmed" it is inserted in a body suited for its task and it moves the body via a cybernetic interface. Think of them as robots with organic brains.

Technosage (written by Puritan)

The name Technosage is given to both the newest Temuoplitan cybernetic enhancement system and the people who receive this enhancement system, for this is a specialty cybernetic enhancement that is only carried out on a few select individuals. The Technosage is always a specialist in their field, someone who is passionate about their work and excels at it. They are also invariable someone who is known for general sound character and sensibility, hence the "sage" portion of their name. Lord Puritan or the Temuoplitan Council of Lords determine when the invited to receive this modification shall be extended, there is no application process or typical profile for a candidate except as outline above. Few indeed are given the opportunity for this drastic enhancement, for the true need for Technosages is rare, and the misuse of the technology and status relating to this position cannot be allowed.

The technological modification of a Technosage is drastic, which is largely the reason why the use of this technology is restricted. The candidate who accepts the invitation to become a Technosage has their body modified with the latest Temuoplitan cybernetics technology, with the addition of a small cybernetic "brain" independent of the human brain in the body. This "brain" is hard coded to do nothing except control basic human bodily functions such as breathing or the like, it is incapable of performing other functions as it cannot be reprogrammed and is inaccessible without drastic surgery. After the completion of these modifications, delicate surgery is performed to accomplish two things: A) to seal the new Technosage's brain in a sealed container with an independent ZPE power source (OOC: technology from Pacifica). The brain container is supplied with a nutrient fluid at the time of surgery, and the reservoir needs only be replenished every few years due to the in-container recycling devices and the high-concentration of the fluid supplied. B) Create connections and space in the Technosage's body to allow the reconnection of the Technosage's brain and resumption of full original capacities, and reconstruction of the Technosage's head so that he or she maintains the same appearance when in their original body.

At this point the Technosage is placed within their new body, a biomechanical creation that is part sculpture and part cutting edge cybernetics, materials, and robotics technology. While the bodies vary from Technosage to Technosage, they share a couple distinguishing characteristics: Firstly, their head, and possibly the rest of their form, has been created from nanoengineered Temultanium to an image created by an artist designed to represent the true look of the Technosage in their original body, but also to depict their character. Those who knew the Technosage prior to their conversion will recognize the face, but the idealization and depiction of the Technosages character inevitable makes the face of every Technosage striking and compelling. Secondly, the Technosage speaks in their new form only through a built-in speaker unit. The speaker itself is highly durable and sealed against harm, but the true uniqueness is the voice of a Technosage. Like their head it is based off their true voice, but it has been modified and purified so that the pitch and tone of their voice is pure, striking, and compelling in a way that no normal human voice can emulate. The rest of the Technosages form is built to assist them in their chosen vocation, but the forms invariably represent the pinnacle of Temuoplitan Cybernetic Technology.

Stormcrow (Written by Zarn Ishtare)

With the advent of the Imperium comes the need for a new kind of war, and a new kind of warrior. Instead of being constant warriors who are perpetually in battle, the Stormcrows are specifically trained to be inspectors, computer techs, scientifically trained, and generally well-rounded people. Their abilities are honed to a razors edge, their bodies pushed to the limit through exercise, constant training, and expansion via scientific or magical means. The Stormcrows represent the combined power of eldritch magics and technological wonders, for each and every Stormcrow possesses latent magical abilities, honed at the Japanese Academy of the Storm in the different circles of magic. They are trained with every weapon imaginable, doing much of their training in advanced VR, where the Techs can stretch and distort time in such a way that these warriors may do years of training in a matter of moments, combined with real physical training, actual lectures, and differing classes, as per their specialty.

But what really sets a Stormcrow apart other than the black armor and the power is the “Wings”. These wings, which are actually bionic-biological implants, are in fact a machine of sorts. Their purpose is multi-fold, being used for actual flight and the more obvious fare, but their true nature is extremely adaptable. Although usually found in their regular, winged form, these machine-implants are actually extremely malleable, able to be hardened, softened, to change shape, distort mass, and size. They may be used in battle at another weapon, lashing out like whips. Because the wings are hooked up in such a way to the brain as to be on the instinctual, even the precognitive level, Stormcrows will quickly adjust. All of these nervous connections are another motivating factor for giving the Stormcrows their own rides: The Dragoons. In the pilot seat of every dragoon are opening slots that a Stormcrow “Plugs” into, “shifting” (Meaning he wills them into a different shape, texture, and mass) his wings in such a way that he combines his will to the ship, making him able to fly as though it were his own body. With their magical and Psychic abilities, the two seaters (And some of the more skillful ones) may fly and direct energy fire from the Chrylances, all the while dogfighting with other fighters and performing acrobatic feats of wonder. There is reported to be mechs of that sort as well.

The Stormcrows are the top of the food chain in military chain of command, many in charge of “Normal” companies, legions, or whole armies. Most, however, settle into squadrons of fellow Stormcrows, or go alone and investigate other countries as the inspectors of the Imperium, usually going along with an investigation team under his wing.

Stormcrows are not sterile and can give birth, hold no vows of chastity, and their genetic structure is stabilized in such a way that the only variations in a person will normal variations as happens with any people.

The Stormcrows chain of command is called “The Ordering Of The Winds”, and ranks thusly:

Zaren Ishtare, The Arashi No Tenshi, First Stormcrow, and Master of the Storm.

Sirin Dire, The Howling Wolf Stormcrow, the North Wind.

Mika, the East Wind.

The other two “Winds” are mysterious individuals who have not been seen outside of special military compounds.

The Hurricanes (Usually called Storm Leaders): These Eleven Generals sit under the Four Winds, and do most of the day-to-day commanding.

The Tempests: lower on the chain of command these sub generals command companies, squads, and small groups at all levels. Usually associated with more day-to-day fighting.

Captains of the Sky: These men are just that, captains, usually commanding a full Stormcrow squad of four, or a Cyborg/Ishtaran squad of seven to twelve. A Captain of the Sky is an absolute master of flying, pulling stunts that even Stormcrows stutter in awe at. This extends to flying a ship, where as soon as they plug in they can push a ship to its absolute limit.

Stormcrows: your “average” Stormcrow. A seasoned warrior who may soon be up for Sky ranking, these Stormcrows still hold rank over the Squalls, the Haru’s and the Gales. Their wings are full grown, and they are expert flyers.

Squalls: Newly trained, fresh out of the academy, and generally bad tempered, Squalls are known for their loud, explosive abilities, love of hurricanes, and generally causing destruction for the enemy. Zealous in their defense of the Imperium, they are not well suited for peacetime duties, but do not yet understand the realities of war. They usually start out as scout pilots, a dangerous enough job, and most survive the first year. Their wings are usable for actual flight, and they’ve learned enough so basic flight is intuitive.

Gales: These new, red, ripe recruits are students at the Academy. Nervous, prideful, skilled as heck, you guess it, its here. Their only uniting factor is their close proximity to each other and their powers. These are usually still kids of 15, newly recruited and showing it. On tours of duty, they usually do “Grunge” work on all-Stormcrow ships. On regular ships, however, they are treated like princes and kings, and begin piloting soon after joining up. Their wings, when the earn them, are very small, two feet or so, and are only capable of “Plugging”.

Haru’s: A Haru is a strange variant on the Stormcrow: Their wings are white, and they are expressly and voluntarily made unable to kill. Out of the few thousand Stormcrows currently in existence on Mars and earth, only 500 or so are Haru’s. These Spring Winds are healers of the first order and genius’s in the sciences, but also usually soft spoken. Most often, they are made up of retired Stormcrows, Gales who were damaged when they got their wings, genetic mutations, or older Stormcrows who want to get away from battle. A medical unit travels with 1 Haru with about 50 Cyborg assistants, constantly patching up whoever happens to be damaged. Their only distinction from the pure white winged Stormcrows on Mars is the large black patch of feathers all of them have directly on their back. They are especially good at manipulating their wings, using the as melacandrites like the Techno-sage.

Mars Stormcrows: Also called Riders of the Celestial Winds, these Stormcrows are decidedly different from the earth lot; they are more outspoken, more independent, And in general seem to be less...wary. Because of the peaceful conditions on Mars, Stormcrows regularly duel or fight in mass tourneys to keep up their peek physical and mental conditioning, but in general, these Stormcrows are just less formal. Because of an incident in the labs, the first of these Stormcrows were given white “Wings” instead of black ones, and since then, all Mars Stormcrow have continued the tradition. Marrying is a common thing among Mars Stormcrows, and it is secretly encouraged by the Imperium, for both scientific purposes (To see what new abilities and powers come out of it) and loyalist purposes (A child raised by loyal, powerful parents will be more loyal to the Imperium because of it). Plus, a planet of loyal subjects wouldn’t hurt anything.

Deep Space Stormcrows: Yes, they exist. These Stormcrows are Space Navy commanders, maverick pilots being called in on special assignment, or sometimes a small fleet of Chryslance wielding Dragoons jumping out of nowhere to absolutely pummel the enemy. Most Stormcrows regularly pilot a Dragoon, and the Dragoon is arranged in such a manner as to be able to fly in any conditions, whether it is planet side or in the void of space, even under the ocean. Each requires a few days of refitting, but the quick air-to-sea and sea-to-air model (Which is generally the regular model) can switch in mere seconds, allowing a real 3-Dimensional form of combat, able to really fly in ANY direction, including down into the deep.

The Einhajar is a standard sub produced by the Aether Empire, small, unarmed, it is generally maneuverable and relatively fast when the need be. The craft is armed with about 8 small maneuverable torpedoes and two intermediate to long range missiles, including the results of Project Pluto, which the Aether Empire is notorious for using the radioactive missiles to attack their targets. Generally speaking though, the crafting isn’t as much a nautical marvel as it is a mass produced drone attack ship meant to gain the Aether Empire a good footing in naval battles. However, the craft have never seen combat as the first attacks ordered on them were called off when the Imperium left Earth.

Space Carrier (By Peanut)

This is the main unit of the URS Space Fleet. It is simply an aircraft carrier sized spaceship filled with Interceptors, Phoenix's, or Scourges. It is also armed with a larger version of the Ninja Monkey Cloaking Device. Besides that it has no other defenses, it simply relies on the space fighters within it's hall for that.

A small space fighter designed to take on other space fighters. It is powered by a ZPE generator and it is armed with meteor missiles.

SPACE PROPULSION

Laser Propulsion System

The laser propulsion system was the primary method of Earth to space transport by the pre-war URS, and the primary launch point was located in Florida. The massive lasers at the site would ignite the air behind the propelled craft into a shockwave that would continuously rise the craft into the sky, allow for craft to rise without the use of onboard fuel. The firing systems could fire and re-fire rapidly thus allowing for one craft after another to be sent into orbit. It is unclear exactly what or how much stuff was sent into orbit by this means, but it was used quite a bit until the undead shroud turned these nations in favor of more traditional systems of launching their spacecraft.

(Note that the primary cannon and the smaller cannons are variations in energy power, this is the difference between a high powered ZPEB and a low powered ZPEB).

Smart Materials (Written by Pascal)

The primary technology in use here are smart materials that react to electric fields, in particular those that change their viscosity so dramatically that they are a liquid when the field is off and a solid when the field is on. Although a nasty oily goo is shown on the page, the material in use looks something like the following simply to add a cool effect, but in general the material under use changes from very hard to a nice liquid depending on the applied field.

Military Applications

LIQUID Strategic facilities

There are several ideas that make use of a copious quantity of the above material, one of which is a design for a new remote Aether Empire base built with a box canyon that will be called the blood gulch air base facility (yes it’s named after the map used in Red VS Blue). The deep box canyon (which is rectangular in nature) is nothing more then a hole in the ground but the bottom of this hole will be covered in rock as will the surrounding walls, with small caves placed at regular intervals along the canyon walls both at the bottom of the walls and about halfway up on either side. Below the middle holes electric plates will surround the entire side of the canyon. Hydraulic pumps will be installed to lift liquid from the bottom of the canyon to middle caves as is needed. Then a massive cavern will be built at the far end whose roof will be lined with varying electric conductors and holes connected to the hydraulic pumps, these however draw there fluids from tanks held inside the facility… a few meters behind these doors is a massive stone wall with two caverns leading away. Thus the cave gives enough space for a plane to move into the base but not anywhere’s near enough space to land in the cavern itself. Now the tanks and the bottom of the canyon will be filled with the smart material.

When a plane comes in to land the ground crew ok’s the landing and the hydraulic and electrical systems are turned on creating a massive electric field that is almost perfect flat between the two conductors. As the smart material is pumped up to the cavern it is allowed to spill out, it comes out like a waterfall but the edge closest to the cavern wall turns to a solid because of the electric field, this edge continues to expand until the entire region with the strong electric fields is filled. The excess liquid now sits on top of this plane and the hydraulic systems are turned off allowing it to flow back down to the bottom of the canyon only the surface remains. The plane comes in for it’s landing and settles down on the material coming to a stop and is then moved towards the cavern door. The cavern door normally has an electric field and is made up hardened smart material as well, as the plane approaches the field is turned off and the door quickly falls apart into a burst of liquid smart material, the plane can then be stored in the base.

But why such an elaborate landing system? The answer is rather strategic, generally a good method of stopping an air force from taking off in an attack is to strike the runways which stops the planes from having a surface to take off from. Then the planes themselves can be targeted on the ground for destruction. But in this situation an air strike would merely hit liquid on the bottom of the canyon merely displacing it. And when the surface is formed an air strike on the surface itself will simply causes matter to rise into the air where there is no longer an electric field, it liquefies and falls back down until it hits the electromagnetic field at which point it reforms the surface of the runway. This is to be later utilized in other standard Aether Empire bases to allow planes to take off even after a strike has hit the runway itself. The door serves a similar strategic purpose. An air strike on the main door itself does little damage as the bulk of the blast occurs at the door itself causing it to shatter at which point more liquid continues to flow in the new available field and the door reforms making a difficult target to deal with. As an added countermeasure to any other unconventional attacks, wire have also been placed along the edge of the door and the runway which may have electrical currents run down them to greatly increase the electric field (to counter strong electric field attack by gaining closer proximity to the material with a stronger field- the generators are on the ground in a base not in a mobile base), and they can also heat up if coolant is used to try and freeze the bases items to stop mobility thus allowing them to melt away the attack quickly. In the end this strategic defense is planned to guard facility locations that could make use of such designs including air base facilities and guard doors.

Besides these base facilities down in the Heard Island Military Base they are being used for quite a different attack method, TDBD (Time Dependent Base Defenses). While the main island will be guarded by electric armor as well as an underbelly defense of ceramic tiles (to prevent plasma damage) and 4 inches of aggregated diamond nanonrod defense plates, the island will also makes use of the materials for a new type of defense. Around the base cauldrons are being built underneath of which are electric field fibers. The fibers produce an electric field of varying strength which is controlled via a massive quantum computer in the facility itself. This allows the fields produced by the cauldrons to take on shapes with varying field strength, when properly controlled the fields can create holograms of electric fields in which the liquid smart materials form solid elements, the field can be varied rapidly at whim to create new structures or to “rotate” the existing structures, this holds incredible strategic potential. First much like the airstrip, air strikes on these cauldrons are only as good as the amount of material they can evaporate, all the liquid will simply reform the structure after it has been hit, and even this is limited as the cauldrons are connected to massive storage tanks to revitalize their supply of smart material. Beyond this though there are far more useful strategic utilities that this forms. As the defenses in use are only dependent upon the existing strong electric fields in the region the entire base setup can be changed at will according to the defenses pattern needed. Massive gun turret system can simply splash back down as they are reformed into cannons, lasers, missile batteries, silos, walls, trenches or bunkers and they can be organized in any matter, creating the element of surprise in the military base. Normally though they just appear as liquid water lying dormant until they are needed… This gives a constant base something that it has never had before militarily, the element of surprise in when it is the defending opponent.

However the capabilities don’t stop there, while the outside of the material is held at a constant electric field intensity, inside the field vary between weak and strong so that the inside changes between liquid and solid according to position. Generally this takes on the form of a wave directed away from the center of the caldron. But instead of keeping this stable the field is varied rapidly so that the areas of solid material change position as do the areas of liquid material… As a result any piece of matter that breaks through the surface (not that difficult to do) will be struck effectively with waves of solid matter that move through the inner regions of the material at incredible velocities. The matter isn’t moving but the parts of the matter that are solid are changing location. Thus these shockwaves can move at incredible speeds transferring energy into the desired target and reducing it’s power rapidly (while causing heating as well). If the amount of material were large enough and the computer perfectly timed, these waves could even travel at superluminal speeds which may present odd results for future use as no matter is actually moving but only a phase in the matter is moving. For any invading forces the cauldrons are to be avoided, falling into one (or climbing on them) can have the nasty effect that of having the field turned of at the surface but while falling down they will be torn apart by the massive fluctuations from matter to liquid inside as it abrasively tears into them and removes the unwanted debris when it is done. Thus a ring of these defenses is a formidable obstacle for invading troops, which must be crossed with great care, the material below can shoot straight up in a delta function of electromagnetic energy causing spike to impale those wishing to get across or it may even grab them with a tentacle like appendage.

Currently the technology has expanded to being in use in almost every major Aether Empire Base.

My Faction:

Hey, I'm posting this here as a place-holder for my Faction information. I'm still working on it, but I want my rough-notes here:


Working Name: The Dread Guard, or, The Undread.
Race: Mixed, from Undead, to former Chaos Creatures, to Humans and such.
Technology: Still working on it, but most likely some Imperium/Shining Guard/Undead/Pacifica mix-ups and remakes, along with some true originals.
Size: We took the New Syberian Islands, didn't we? We aren't Imperium huge, but we do have good numbers, and the prospect for more.
Alliances: Obviously we came from Undead Space, so we have deep ties there, but as I'm not reporting to Nos as an officer, I think that speaks for itself.
Alignment: N/A.

Alright, from what I got to know this starting tech has so far been approved for the GDU.

Killbots – Standard issue military robots of the GDU packing a pair of light disruptor cannons, a communication array and their disruptor cannons can be used to charge up the mass driver weapon known as miniballs, who help adding light splash damage. Suited with the standard Templar armor only in a robot version the standard units have light protection, yet they feature a self-supporting energy supply and AI which makes them immune to outside hackers, but they have to be recharged from time to time. They have a light jetpack which can make them perform high jumps. The AI in this robot is designed to make it understand threats that often requires a organic understanding to process. These are mostly used in military campaigns, but they can also be modified as a swat unit or peacekeepers. There are also four more versions of the killbot.

Subspace disruptor

Class – Light infantry weaponry.
It’s the standard beam weapon of the GDU infantry. It’s not fully automatic, but it features a fairly compact shot which disrupts the region around the individual molecules, often resulting in dissolving the matter it hits. It requires a aura crystal to use as well as Magton to stabilize the beam. Its mostly used in a tri-shot mode which fires a burst of 3 beams quite accurately towards it targets It also has the popular option to attach a chainsaw to the end of it, which is very respected in the GDU military.

Razor
Class – Medium infantry weaponry
A medium sized device that works quite a lot like the Subspace disruptor, but it is optimized with a different type of charged aura crystal and stronger magton to make it able to fire many, yet fairly small disruptor shots. The velocity and speed is only limited by the energy in the crystal and even though it can fire more than 4000 shots each second, it will deplete after a few seconds if fired at such a rate.

Arrow
Class – Medium infantry weaponry
With a strong charged aura crystal, a long and compact magton barrel this weapon is optimized for long range, and fairly strong shot. It features a multi dimensional target AI which easily pinpoints target locations. Its currently the standard sniper weaponry of the GDU.

Templar armor

Class – Light
The templar armor features mainly light duranthium as material. It works particularly well as a mass driver defense. It is also accompanied by a small shield generator which is powered by an aura crystal which grants it some protection against laser weaponry. Designed for maximum flexibility and minimal combat constraint it serves as the standard GDU soldier armor. High cost, light protection and very well respected among varius different types of infantry.

Scout

Class – Light ground walker

A robot that is designed primarily for excellent maneuverability. This robot features dual flak cannons and a single disruptor cannon for long range attacks. It acts as the most used scout of the GDU and is often used not just on the battlefield, but also popular among law enforcement agencies as well as it can be customized for planetary exploration.
Of two evils, choose neither - Charles Spurgeon.
