Sup bros. Atheist here, hope that's ok.

I come here to escape the trolls which infest other anime boards. From what I've seen that shouldn't be a problem here.

Welcome, and enjoy your stay at CAA.

As long as you refrain from bashing Christianity or whatever, I believe it's okay-goes to look up rules-

Welcome! You're not the only atheist here (though that wouldn't be me, by the way). Generally speaking we're well protected against trolls.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it here. See you in the chatroom someday. :)

So you guys have to have new topics reviewed by mods on some boards?

That has to get annoying.

Ello and welcome. ^^/ Actually, with them reviewing the topics it makes it safer.

It's one of those things that keep the trolls at bay, so, I suppose, it is a necessary annoyance. Many trolls posted some crazy stuff that would give many nightmares, usually under new threads.

"Safer"?

What exactly is the risk involved? If it's a bad thread it should just be deleted later. It just seems like having to have every topic reviewed is an unnecessary burden on the mods.

Not every thread, actually.

Just certain threads, by all new members.

The mods do this because, at times, a thread will be posted that has the potential to spark a battle between members. In fact, at the moment I think a thread was just made in the 'General' section that has now been blocked off....

Welcome to CAA.

As the others have said, not every single thread posted has to be approved in order to show up. That would get very annoying for us moderators. Generally speaking, posts made by newer members have a higher likelihood of being caught under the filter and needing to be reviewed by us. The best way to avoid this is by not posting links or lists for awhile since that's usually how spambots and trolls post.

The reason why the site is set up like that is because we have a lot of younger kids on the site and we don't want to risk them seeing things they shouldn't.

I saw that I think. Something to do with "Why Do Protestants etc.".

As a person of Irish descent, that makes me nervous. :P

Yeah, things like that happen, but we've got it all under control. ^^

Just as a curiosity, in general, how long would it take the average thread to get approval?

Also: I didn't do any of those things you mentioned. Guess I'm just unlucky.

It depends on if a moderator is online at the time or not and how quickly we see the moderated post. For example, I just approved your post in the Anime board about Ghost in the Shell. I can't see any reason why the filter caught it, but it did. That just happens sometimes. As long as there's nothing wrong with the post in question, it'll be approved relatively soon. In the meantime, just be patient and eventually you'll make enough posts so that they won't even go through the filter anymore.

I guess so.

I did just post a review of Soul Eater to an existing topic that the filter also caught. I guess it must not like how verbose I am.

In your case it was a keyword issue. The filter has a lot of factors, but I've generally been pleased by the relatively low rate of false positives.

Welcome aboard. We have a variety of atheists and people of varying philosophies on the board, but not enough. Here's hoping you stick around to contribute.

Oh well. I'll just have to wait for it to wear off.

Little slow at the moment I guess. And I can't access the chat either...

You need a certain number of posts to access the chat. But we encourage all new members to not post like a maniac in order to only get into the chat. If you stick around and contribute to the board, you have no need to worry about these issues. Every new member goes through them.

Welcome to the boards, by the way.

Mostly Seinen series, although I dip into the odd shonen series for nostalgia's sake. I do read manga sparingly, typically of anime series I've found that I like.

Welcome! You made a good decision to join us, dude. Not because the C in CAA stands for "Christian" but rather I would add that it significantly means "Colorful". Its not easy to get utterly bored here :)

It's hard to say, because my favorites seem to vary from year to year, as I mature I suppose my tastes change.

Some constants are anime from my childhood. I saw a few "Break-in" series in places like Toonami, but it wasn't until later on when Adult Swim came onto the scene with deeper, more mature series that I really got into it. So, things like Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, and Trigun are old favorites which I can reliably enjoy over and over again.

Current favorites are Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, Soul Eater, and as for manga, Gundam Sousen. Which if you haven't read I encourage you to, especially if you're looking for insight about how anime began to break out as a true artform even in Japan in the early eighties.

Welcome to CAA! Those are nostalgic favorites for me too, especially Bebop. I mostly like seinen, so you've got pretty good taste in my opinion. ;)

Welcome to the site! As others have stated, there are many folks on the site from a variety of backgrounds - Christian and non-Christian alike. As long as you are respectful of the people on the board, we welcome everyone.

For reference, here's a snippet from the FAQ/Rules area of the board. (Not saying anything you're doing has prompted this, it's just my job to post it every now and again. XD):

Mith in the FAQ area wrote:CAA is THE place for Christians who love anime! At CAA, we require all members, regardless of belief system to abide by our board rules and treat everyone with courtesy and respect.
