Name: Josh
Birthday: October 15
Ethnicity: Indian. My mother is from Northern India while my Dad is from southern India.
Political Affiliation: Moderate with conservative leanings.
Languages: English and Spanish (reasonably fluent). I want to learn Japanese, Mandarin and Hindi
Major: Pre-med / Comp Sci
Career Goals: Orthopedic Surgeon / Medical Researcher
Beliefs: Evangelical / Non-denominational.
Favorite Animal: Lion
Favorite Comic: Peanuts, with Calvin and Hobbes as a very close second
Favorite Superhero:Batman
Favorite Color: Green
Favorite Foods: Chinese, Italian, Mexican
Video game series: Mario (haven't played Sunshine, but don't think I'll like it though), Zelda (just cool...), Harvest Moon (so addictive...)
Music: I like all styles of music except country, although I do have a leaning towards rock, classical and anime music. I dislike Christian music and worship where the song is a romantic song with God's name substituted for the girl / boy. I like secular as long as there's nothing negative in the lyrics.

Favorite Books: The Bible (NIV), The Message, Lord of the Rings, War and Peace, Othello, Hamlet, T.S. Eliot's Poetry, P.G. Wodehouse (Jeeves and Wooster), Crime and Punishment, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Pygmalion, Fahrenheit 451, Of Mice and Men, The Robe, G.K. Chesteron's Father Brown mysteries, Locked-room mysteries (John Dickson Carr / Carter Dickson), Hercule Poirot mysteries
Favorite Movies: The Passion of the Christ, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Matrix Trilogy (despite the disappointments of the third part), It's A Wonderful Life, Murder on the Links, Minority Report, the good Alfred Hitchcock films (Strangers on A Train, Psycho, Rear Window, etc.), The Great Escape, Life is Beautiful, most of the few Indian movies I've seen (Lagaan, Monsoon Wedding, etc.)
TV Shows (not including anime): Smallville, Poirot series, Batman, Batman Beyond (yeah, I don't watch that much TV)
Favorite Animes: Yu-Gi-Oh!, Fruits Basket, Noir, Slayers....I haven't seen too many yet. :red:

Thanks for letting us get to know you better. :)

Just curious: do you live in the U.S. or India?

The U.S. I've lived here all of my life. I've only been back to India twice, both of which were when I was relatively young...

Wow - you are cool. I am liking nearly everything on your bio! Love peanuts and Calvin and Hobbes, Green is by far the best color, Batman is rockin' awesome (especially the movie with Jack Nickelson as the Joker - I love it!), you have all the best foods listed, love Mario, Zelda (especially Mario for N64 and The Ocarina of Time for N64 [Zelda], and Harvest Moon for N64 is the best!), classical, rock, and anime music (I like nearly every category though), Switchfoot - wow, and good anime, British comedy - man, everything. I am most excited about the books though. I'm an english major, so I love reading. Anyway, I think I've scared you enough for now, but thanks for having awesome taste all around, and I'll see you around, Smanbeyond!

You haven't scared me. That is surprising, though. The only other person I've found that has a surprising amount of similar interests is my best friend. Anyways, that's really cool.

Do you have a favorite classical compser, or composers? I'm really impressed with those in the medical field these days. I am taking Biology II this semester from a killer professor, and I'm having to work like mad to make B's, so way to go. I always wanted to be a doctor because I was always interested in diseases and afflictions, and wanted to help people (also because of Microbiology in High School), but I obviously don't have the gifts to do it. But yeah, I'm glad there are people in the world that God has gifted for positions like that. Yeah, I have a few friends that I have a bit in common with, but not across the board, except for my old best friend in High School. See ya around. :thumb:

Beethoven is my favorite composer. I'm biased against him because he was deaf and yet wrote such great music. However, I also like Handel, Bach, and Mozart a lot as well.

I take Bio next year, but I heard the professor is really good and the tests are based largely off of practice quizzes they give. This year I'm taking Physics, which is fun...

You like British comedey, so are you a Monty Python fan? (Ok, not all of their comedy is clean but a lot of it is) My favorite is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Calvin and Hobbes rocks, too. I wish it was still in the papers.

Super Mario Sunshine is a fun game. Pretty long, as far as most games go, but not too high of a retail value. Some of the levels are extremely easy, and some are fairly challenging. It's a nice, well-rounded game. I liked it, anyway.

I haven't seen too much Monty Python, but I have seen some of it, like the Dead Parrot Sketch and the Ministry of Silly Walks. I've liked what I've seen.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen any of Monty Python and the Holy Grail except for the bit where Arther fights the Black Knight ("It's only a flesh wound.")).
