I came to this site on a recommendation of my dad, who stumbled upon it by accident. I thought it would be a great place to meet other Christians and other anime lovers, as both seem to evade me.

I was wondering, though: what exactly is the policy on the "do not discuss" series? Is it a "don't mention it or die" type of thing? As is probably painfully obvious, Evangelion is my favorite series, and was also my first anime title. I have a particular love for it and was somewhat saddened to see that I can't talk about it here. :(

I echo what Rushia stated about the Do not discuss list. I'm sorry you're saddened by the fact that your favorite series in on that list, but the titles on the list have caused problems on the forum in the past and therefore not dicussed anymore to keep the peace on the boards among our members. :)

Not to sound like circumventing the rules, but there is a very exploitable loophole in this. Private PM conversation is allowed, and you are more than welcome to discuss even things on the Do Not Discuss list, provided you know who (and how) to talk to.

For the record I have also watched all of Evangelion (End of Eva included), and am in the process of reading the Manga. If that helps.

I also liked Eva. In fact, it's one of the few Gainax titles I can say that about. The only other title I like from them is Gurren Laggan.

Just to put an official stamp on this: whatever you choose to talk about in PM is perfectly okay (assuming it's not abusive, harassment, etc.). Officially, CAA has no opinion about NGE other than whatever is listed on the review, and I say this as someone who has also seen the entire series. The DND is only there to prevent threads from getting out of control as they always seem to do with certain series and topics; enthusiasts can always talk about them amongst themselves, as long as the discussion is mutual.

Thanks for all the info guys!

I can defiantly see how Eva could cause people to go bonkers and get things all heated up, and it does make sense to just shush it before it starts; I wish I could have done that on a few occasions in real life XD. The main reason I'm disappointed is because it's one of the few titles I know a lot about. When I like something, I go CRAZY over it for a while and learn everything I can. Since it was the first anime I saw, it got the most study time. ;)

I do know a few other series, but not too many. I think my current addiction is with Vampire Hunter D (although the books are far more interesting than the movies). I've seen some of Fullmetal Alchemist, all of Death Note (which was awesome), and some of Bleach (which had good music :P).

Well, you can talk about those. A lot of us love Bleach, Death Note, and FMA (including me. In fact, if you look in the New RPG ideas, we have an RPG based on FMA)
