Konnichiwa. Watashi wa Airi desu.
Yay I just wrote in romaji! Anyway, starting my 'who's who'.
My name on this website is Airi-chan. This is not my name, just a Japanese name close to my own. I am actually a very white Dutch American with an obsession with all things Chinese and Japanese. In fact, almost everyone at my primarily white Christian school calls me a 'wasian'. What a wasian you ask? By my own definition, it is a person who is white on the outside, Asian on the inside. Like a backwards Oreo. Yeah. I first got into manga in middle school. I think my very first manga I ever read was Dramacon which is written American order. Later I bought my very first manga: Tokyo Mew Mew. I adored it so much I lent to all my friends and I now own 1-5 and my sis owns 5-7 plus the sequel series. Afterwards, I discovered the original Japanese anime on YouTube, which started my whole anime obsession.
I joined a 'J-pop' club at my local library in California, where I was introduced to Pocky, J-pop music, and other awesome stuff. It was there I learned that being a Christian and an anime-niac is hard, and I was the one who asked that, for the sake of my own innocence, that all anime viewed be 13+ or under.
Being an anime lover is hard for me because I live in Midwestern USA, and hardly anyone is big into this stuff. Please talk to me, people. I love meeting new people.
My dream is to be an English teacher in Japan, and am currently learning Japanese.
I love this CAA, and I will probably be contributing some reviews in the near future (my first review is already in the manga reviews files: Sugar Princess) My favorite animes/mangas are Tsubasa Chronicles, Fruits Basket, Naruto,Gakuen Alice, Crimson Hero, Kirarin*Revolution, Shugo Chara!, and Love*Com. I am always wrestling with the morality of some anime, like Vampire Knight and Bleach, which is why I love the reviews on this site. My favorite J-Pop groups include Berryz Koubou, Buono!, Hey! Say! JUMP, Utada Hikaru, and Morning Musume.
In Christ,
Airi-chan
ps. i draw manga. i drew my sig pic.
