Question the Fish

"Vegeta! What's the scouter say about his posting level?"
"It's (just one) over ONE THOUSAAAAND."

But enough of this mad drivel. 1,000 posts. After I browsed Ashley's question thread, I thought I might make one for myself when I broke that milestone. Then Smarty pulled one first. Then I found out today that everyone gets around to this sooner or later, making this thread even more redundant that Street Fighter The Movie The Game.

So aside from being a shameless plug for myself, let's pay attention to the man beind the iron curtain. Ask me questions, I'll serve out some answers. I will pass on questions I feel are too personal or private (Last name? Credit number? Next of kin? Next of kin!?) Feel free to question my taste, hypothetical scenarios, get to know me, and so forth.

Tally-ho, gentlemen.

• What is your personal philosophy?

• In what US state do you live (and "state of arrested development" or any similar pun is not going to be accepted ;) )?

• What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

• Favourite James Bond film?

• Why did you wipe your nose with your sleeve? WHY???

Are you my father?
Trust your feelings. You know it to be false.

What is your personal philosophy?
Not sure if I've nailed one down. Please keep your arms and legs inside the vehical at all times? Not really sure.

In what US state do you live?
In denial of California.

What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
11 meters per second, or 24 miles per hour (European).

Favourite James Bond film?
Casino Royale (2006). Not to be confused with the 1967 Casino Royale, which was a parody of Bond.

Why did you wipe your nose with your sleeve? WHY???
What, you want the truth? You can't handle the truth.

You're not the walrus, are you?
I am, and always will be, the eggman.

If you could rule the world, where would your headquaters be?

What's your favorite non-anime cartoon?

What's your favorite NFL team?

If you where a superhero with one power, what would your superpower be?

Well Eggman, looks like my search continues! :P

If you could rule the world, where would your headquaters be?
...If?

What's your favorite non-anime cartoon?
Show or film? Television-wise, I grew up on Batman, Looney Toons, the Animaniacs, and a myriad of shows on the Disney Channel, which would explain how I turned out into the fine young man I am today (Ha!). For movies, Aladdin and The Emperor's New Groove from Disney, Anastasia from Fox, The Last Unicorn and Flight of Dragons from Rankin-Bass. Pixar is fine, but I've always had a special niche for drawn animation. These days, for the most part, I'm widely underwhelmed by America's animated offerings.

What's your favorite NFL team?
I don't follow Football, but the rest of my family have always been staunch 49er fans.

If you where a superhero with one power, what would your superpower be?
That's telekinesis Kyle!

Actually, I'd probably say the power of precognition, seeing things moments before they happen. Not long term events, mind you, but say in a super battle with my arch-nemesis, I could see every move they made before they made it in time to react perfectly.

Kinda like Spidey-sense? o.o

If a race of mind-eating aliens where trying to take over the world and you where the leader of the resistence; with a bazooka, a paperclip, and a sock to use, how would you stop the aliens?

Why in the world haven't you watched Cowboy Bebop yet?

When will you watch Cowboy Bebop?

I'd wake up.

Why in the world haven't you watched Cowboy Bebop yet?
Because I am both preoccupied and procrastinating.

When will you watch Cowboy Bebop?
Probably in the afternoon or evening, but you never can tell.

Would you watch the 7 hour 1968 Russian version of War and Peace in one sitting? Or at least give it your best try?

When will you finish your long-awaited magnumopus Charles Dickens and the Diseased Yak?

Did the Boots murder the Baker or was it just a Boojum who made him vanish?

"No."

When will you finish your long-awaited magnumopus Charles Dickens and the Diseased Yak?
When I finally defeat Boris Yeltsin in the current legal battle over the rights.

Did the Boots murder the Baker or was it just a Boojum who made him vanish?
Boojum's still making people vanish? We've got to get him off that stuff. It's not healthy for a man his age.

*starting to get the idea that he's the only person who knows what a Boojum is*

Two more questions:

If James Cameron is your uncle, then you are what famous actor?

Favourite stuff to put on bread?

bigsleepj wrote:*starting to get the idea that he's the only person who knows what a Boojum is*

Oh wait, you said A Boojum. That's just a particularly foul-tempered Snark, isn't it? I just read off "Or did Boojum" in my head. Then I looked it up on Wikipedia.

Moving right along.

If James Cameron is your uncle, then you are what famous actor?
He isn't.

Favourite stuff to put on bread?
Peanut butter is always welcome, as is butter and cheese, and pastrami (but not necessarily all together).

Meh, I was sort of hoping for more traffic in here.

What do you like on pizza?
Cheese, sausage, and pineapples. If there is pepperoni, I will pick it off and eat it separately, but never on the pizza.

For Manga, FullMetal Alchemist. Unquestionably. I've read the whole series online, and still enjoy re-reading volumes as I buy them. Also, Mushishi. The day and preceding weekend I bought volume 1, I kept picking it up, flipping through the pages.

Anime-wise, Samurai Champloo. For awhile when I only owned the last volume, I kept watching the last arc over and over again. Brilliant. I've also sat through the Read or Die OVA a couple of times (still need to finish off my review for that series)

How come your avatar looks like it's singing the lyrics to every song I listen to? o.o
Because it is. *Dun-dun!*

WHO'S YOUR FAVORITE DICTATOR?!?!?!
Otto Von Bismarck. Prime minister of Prussia, first chancellor of Germany. That man was hardcore.

In your opinion, what are the 5 best Duels (in a movie) of all time?
  • The Staircase Scene, Casino Royale - Brief, simple, and quick cut, but no less intense. Being the Bond franchise, they could have easily dragged it out unnecessarily, but they wisely gave us a concise, tidy-little action scene. With a machete. Yes!
  • Neo vs. Smith, The Matrix - The original face-off, in the subway. Truly, a battle of the demigods. And I still say Smith made the Trilogy. The other numerous battles between the two are okay, but to me, the ultimate was that first encounter.
  • Inigo Montoya vs. The Man in Black, The Princes Bride - Dude. How can you not list this one? When they were filming the Princess Bride, the motivation they gave the actors was "We're going to make the second greatest sword fight of all time." "What's the first?" "We'll get to that later."
  • Jin vs. Kariya Kagetoki, Samurai Champloo - Okay, so it's not a film, per se. But the last three episodes of Champloo are certainly cinematic. Jin doesn't get nearly the same chance to shine as Mugen in the series, so I think this does nicely to show just what he is capable of.
  • The Corridor Scene, Oldboy - The only scene of Oldboy I've seen, but fairly impressive. The whole deal is just one long, continuous shot, one man vs. many. It's not fancy, there's no kung-fu, no super powers or swordplay, just the very real and claustrophobic feel of this one guy fighting his way across a hallway against multiple attackers. Plus, he takes a knife in the back at one point, and doesn't notice till afterwards. That's awesome.

Assuming we had the technology to inhabit planets other than earth, which planet would you want to live on?
Think I'll stick with good-old planet Earth.

Figured you'd enjoy that one.

What's your three favorite colors?
Hunters green, navy blue, and black.

What's your favorite animal?
I'm a big fan of reptiles, but I'd say specifically crocodiles and turtles. And llamas.

What's your favorite game?
Metal Gear Solid 3 - Snake Eater and Final Fantasy IX tie for first place, though I will usually rank MGS3 as the superior on lists.

What school do you go to?
College.

How many siblings do you have (if any)?
Just my sister, Heidi. The younger, smarter, and generally less-manageable sibling, with whom Ryan is forbidden contact.

What's your favorite sport to play?
Capture the Flag. I demand ESPN coverage.

What's your favorite sport to watch?
Usually if I'm at a sporting event at all, or watching one, it's to be with the people there, friends and family. Not an avid sports fan at all.

What is your favorite European war and why?
Probably the Anglo-Spanish War, where the Spanish build their notorious so-called "Invincible Fleet," only to have it severely owned by the British, then destroyed in a freak storm on the way back.

If you mean "Most interested in," however, I'd say most of the 20th century conflicts (unification of Germany, WWI, WII, and the Cold War).

Who is your favorite Shakespearean character and why?
MacBeth, because he was, and could have been, a great guy had he not been tainted by the weird sisters' prophecy and his wife (who is interestingly my least favorite Shakespearean character). If I were in his position, I'd have just sat back and waited for fate to take its course. And also please keep in mind that MacBeth is the only Shakespeare play I've read so far that I was really that interested in, so I don't have a wide pool to draw from.

Can you recite Shakespeare?
"Shakespeare." Well, that was all too easy...

And how do you stand on the subject of human cloning?
Cloning replacement organs for operations is fine (as the only other way to obtain most such materials is rather fatal), but let's leave the actual human beings to God, genes, and nature to form.

Forbidden!

What's your favorite Bible verse (if you have one)?
None comes to mind, though I did write that piece on Romans 14 awhile back.

Will Mr. SmartyPants actually ask a question?
All answers point to "No."
