MelMak makes himself melodious! (Or something...)

Well, it's been two years since I joined CAA... :sweat: I guess I should tell you all a bit more about myself now. :lol: It won't be easy, though... I don't like talking about myself too much and I usually have trouble thinking of stuff to say anyway -- so please bear with me here. ^_^;;

My name is Russell, but you can all call me that or MelMak (short for "TheMelodyMaker") or whatever suits your fancy. ;) I live right in the middle of Alberta, which is considered the Canadian version of Texas. :grin:

I can't say I've watched a lot of the more popular anime series aside from The Bush Baby (which got me interested in the anime drawing style), Sailor Moon or Hamtaro (my favorite! :grin: ), so that's probably why you don't see me posting a whole lot in the Anime section -- I'm no hardcore anime fan. :lol:

Along the lines of manga, I don't think I've read any true Japanese-made manga aside from the Super Mario Bros./Legend of Zelda comics that appeared in some of my older Nintendo Power issues. Other than that, the only manga I've read are that by our own manga artists here (Psycho Ann, Inkhana, etc.) ^_^

Music... hmm... I like a variety of styles, as long as there is no one screaming at the top of his/her lungs and as long as it doesn't sound like someone's killing the instruments. :lol: Actually, I like to write music -- both original compositions and arrangements. The Melodies of Heaven page on my site, The BASIC FAQs (see my signature for the link), has all the music I've done for anyone who's interested. :)

As far as video games go, I've been playing them since the Atari 2600! ^_^ But for the last 12 years, I've been working hard to make a game of my own called The Traveller's Guide; please see the link in my signature if you're interested in seeing a demo. :)
Most importantly, I have been a believer and follower of Christ Jesus since a couple of months before I turned 10. My salvation and my relationship with Him is the greatest treasure that I have, and I'm glad to say that no one can take that from me. :)

...That's all I can think of at the moment; please feel free to ask me questions and such if you like. ^_^

This is where I'm supposed to ask weird questions. But... I can't think of any!

Well, pleased to meet you anyway.

2600, very nice!

Have you ever walked out into the middle of a busy street before with a hot dog in your hand?

Also, do you think I should shave my head?

Slap a whale with what? :grin:

Locke wrote:Have you ever walked out into the middle of a busy street before with a hot dog in your hand?
If I have, I can't remember. :sweat: (And if I have, I don't know what was going through my head at the time. :lol: )

Rachel wrote:Also, do you think I should shave my head?
I can think of a few different ways to answer that...

1. Uh... is this a trick question? o_o;;
2. Why? Are you planning to? :)
3. I'll answer that if you can tell me what the square root of -1 is. :evil:

Feel free to pick the answer that you like the best. ;)

The answer is i

WHy do you want to shave you're head? Some heads look good without hair, but you'll never know if yours is one of those unless you do it.

What was/were your favorite 2600 game(s)?

Too many! :lol: But three that stick out in my mind are Yars' Revenge, Missile Command and Plaque Attack. I'm sure there are others; I just can't think of them at the moment. ^_^

Greeting fellow Albertan! :grin:

Do ya have any fave Canadian bands? Unfortunately, most people kinda don't know what I'm talking about when I start rambling about my fave Canuck musicians :sweat:

Of the core subjects, I'll have to go with math]What was the last CD you bought?
Are we talking music CD or CD-ROM here? I have more of the latter than the former, but either way, I don't remember... ^_^;;

Cool -- I knew you were Canadian, but not Albertan! :) Bands, huh? *thinks* I'm not much into popular music, in all honesty -- but one that sticks out in my mind would be the goofy stylings of the Barenaked Ladies. (And to anyone who's never heard of them, they're a bunch of fully-dressed men. :sweat: ) I guess another favorite is Weird Al Yankovic, but I'm not sure whether he's Canadian. :lol:

Nope. ^_^

Would you ever consider getting a cow? Fresh milk is very tasty.

I'm quite fond of the BNL too, I always end up humming along to 'If I Had a Million Dollars', when I'm not belting it out ^_^

Unfortunately, I'm not sure that we can claim Weird Al as one of our own, alas. Myself, I'm a giddy Great Big Sea fan, I got to see 'em live once and I've been obsessed ever since. I also like Matthew Good, Sam Roberts, Sarah Harmer and the Arcade Fire, I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting....

Ah, yes... the famous "If I Had A Million Dollars" is probably my favorite of the few of theirs I've heard, along with "Enid" and the theme from Royal Canadian Air Farce. ^_^

I can't say I've heard any of the works of any of those other people you've mentioned, the only one I've heard of being Great Big Sea. (I think my sister has a CD of theirs; that's how I've heard of them.)

I have no goat in a boat on a moat. ]Oo, I take it you've seen Air Farce, but have you also seen the Red Green Show, This Hour Has 22 Minutes or Corner Gas?
Yup, I've watched Red Green but I don't watch 22 Minutes and I haven't even heard of Corner Gas. :sweat:
