No Idea Why I'm Doing This

I guess it's just a pathetic attempt of mine to become a SOMEBODY in the nameless, faceless void that is the internet.
Anyway- just a hello to everyone. I go by VioletEyedCat, Daughter of Miho around here, and because there is not much I have to say I'll explain how I chose the name. (I personally love learning the inspiration of names and things, so I hope this is interesting for some of you) I've been VioletEyedCat for a while now- it stemmed from a combination of things. My friend and I would always write each other notes, and we would call ourselves CATs (crazy athletic teenager- yes, it is cheesy, but we wanted something that could be catty). I also liked the book Violet Eyes, which was about these two people trapped in a history time bubble to be observed by the government because they had been genetically enhanced. There was also another book called Alanna about a female knight (gasp!) who had a guardian cat who could talk to her- he had violet eyes. The daughter of Miho thing is a reference to Miho of Megatokyo fame. So there you go.
A few things to be warned of before you converse with me:
I love to read, especially fiction
I love to swim- been swimming competitively since I was six
I'm applying for many different summer programs at Duke, Harvard, and a place called Telluride- please pray that they accept me, and that if they do- I find the money to go.
I'm almost positive that I want to be a professor when I grow up (if ever)
I talk way too much- shut me up if you see me blabbing on the forums
I love shoujo and shounen manga- I get most of it off the internet
I am a night-owl to the extreme
I love to sing- but I'm just good enough for a choir
I hate people who hold ignorant, uninformed opinions, even if they are similar to mine
I prefer to write essays on my computer rather than long hand
I love CAA because it seems like such a close-knit group of people who are truly kind and supporting of one another.
I'll add more when I think of them- for now, I just wish you all a wonderful evening, for I am going to bed.

Why Thank you- I think I shall.
Most of the stuff I wrote in my first post was very boring and bland- I think I'll spice it up a bit:
I randomly poke people and make a little 'poke' sound when I do it.
I speak gibberish- and people actually talk back to me in whatever language they assume it is (so far I've been spoken to in spanish, german, and french)
I have an unhealthy obsession with all things Japanese
I'm probably obsessive-compulsive, but I doubt my parents want to pay to find out
My father is a computer genius (well, actually, he's pretty much an all-around genius. My mom is too. Hmm)
I don't really enjoy cheese all that much.
My favorite emoticon is the jumping smiley:
I have the entire collection of Hayao Miyazaki - my brother got it for me straight from Japan (I love my brother)
My hair is perfect for head-banging to rock music
I cannot have a decent picture taken of me
I'm very sleepy at the moment, and my mommy is telling me to go to bed.
I'll chatter aimlessly some more tomorrow. Bye now.

Okay, so I'm a bit of a fibber- but hey, it's been crazy around my house and its not like anyone is really reading this anyway, right? I wonder what kind of crazy stuff I could put down before anyone noticed and called the mods on me. Bwa ha ha ha ha! But no, I'm a good little girl , and I'm strange enough as it is.
I love musicals- Les Miz, Gypsy, Music Man- you name it, I probably know most of the songs in it.
I just finished reading
Angels and Demons, which is a really great book by Dan Brown- I command the few of you reading this to go out and read it.
I am a Seminoles fan- at least that's what my mom says I am. Gators are the source of all evil, she claims.
I'm supposed to be writing an essay right now, but I have a serious case of formal-writing block. Oh well.
In a mock interview the guy testing me said that I was 'too honest'.
Well what do you know...
My best friend is dating a man seven years older than her.
I love spelling and grammar, and I hate it when I speak incorrectly.
I hate manatees- the state marine mammal of Florida.
I should start a thread explaining why, 'cause there's not enough room here.
I throw the shotput and discus- not very well, though.
I am not planning on asking anyone to the prom- so unless someone asks me, I'm going by myself.
My house gets really dusty really fast- and I don't know why.
I love the old cartoon show Animaniacs!
I generally am very responsible- so I'm going to stop now and work on my essay. Sigh.... Being good is so hard...

My favorite musical is probably My Fair Lady or the King and I, but I love the Music Man, too.
Hope you got around to doing that essay.

Wow, I hope you get accepted! You sound like an interesting person, I haven't been on in a while but when I was active this place was so great. You'll really enjoy it here.

Nice to meet you, I am also in South Florida, hahaha!
You should be very cautious, however. It is quite scary.
FLORIDA: The Place That Old People Come To Die.
If you have AIM, go on and IM me. I don't care. I don't ever do anything important, other than going to MegaCon tomorrow....

Impact Alberto- I command you, as Supreme Ruler of the Old People, to write everything that goes on at MegaCon! I've never heard of it. Yeah- for some reason, old people like me- I think I'm really good at sucking up- which makes me hate myself.
Mylares- Why thank you! I like being interesting, mainly because I'm extremely self-absorbed. I hope I get accepted too- and that I find the money to go to these things- $7000 dollars for six weeks, with no financial aid!
I DID actually finish my essay- it was pretty good, but not my best writing. Anyway, I guess I'll jot some more random facts about myself- you know, social security, credit card, pin numbers- just to see if anyone's listening.
I love Stargate SG1- I own seven seasons on DVD.
I love the X Files, but I'm saving my money and can't buy any of the DVDs.
My brother attends the United States Merchant Marine Academy and I'm very proud of him! He's the one who got me into Japan!
I just finished writing my Physics research paper- it had to be 3-5 pages long and have at least two sources. I just chose my topic today. Which leads me to my next point...
I procrastinate all the time. Right now I'm procrastinating going to bed.
I love wings, all kinds of wings- especially when they're attached to people.
I want to inherit the house I've grown up in from my parents- and since I'm the only girl I probably will, with all the stuff. My brothers aren't into heirlooms.
My favorite way of saying goodbye is Farewell.
Farewell...

Gets out a pen and paper. I'm listening now!
You like X-files!
Cool!

I don't rule them...I...them...with...something...a vengenace. Sorry, MegaCon has ruined my brain, probably beyond recognition.
Where to begin...hmm...
Basically, it's a big convention. 3 days long. You walk around in a huge room with a ton of freaky people/cosplayers and buy bootleg anime. There are lots of comic book artists there, and George Lowe...who is the man. (George Lowe is Space Ghost).
After a lot of walking and buying things, today ended the con with an awesome Jrock band, Psycho Le Cemu("shem" is how "cemu" is pronounced).
It's totally fun, and I hope you'll go up next year. I will be going again. : )

[size=84]Why do I continue to write all this weirdo stuff? I have absolutely no idea- but I do wish to avoid reading my lit homework, and posting's as good of an excuse as any. I really don't dislike the story I'm supposed to read (it's an excerpt from Ben-Hur, and so far it's been pretty awesome), it's just that I don't feel like reading right now. Whatever. Time to dig up some more random factoids:
I was in a car accident when I was five- I broke my collarbone. The results of taking off one's seat belt on a long trip- I flew out the smashed window. They told me later that the area of my collarbone broken was less than two inches away from my neck- scary thought. God must have something important in store for me.
I have no hand-eye coordination. Seriously. Dancing, catching moving objects, walking, eating- they're all difficulties for me.
My favorite flavor of gum is Spearmint.
I have two coffee cups on my desk, and neither of them hold coffee- one's for pencils and the other's for pens.
I really don't like people who are afraid to do anything alone. (Example: "Will you come stand in the lunch line with me?") Blech.
I have one of those singing hamsters- he sings the theme to Godzilla and holds a little phone booth in his hand while wearing a shirt that says "I love Tokyo"
I tried learning German once from a friend, but gave up- I only know a few words now- "Ich macht un sunden!"
I was saddened by the fact that Aloha was kicked off American Idol- I liked her.
I feel like reading now- Farewell.

I broke my collarbone when I was about four or five as well. Mine collided with a tree root. O_o

Where oh where is that favorite quotes thread? I just thought of a really cool one- but I'm too lazy to look for the right thread to put it in. Oh well, I'll stick it in here somewhere. No random list of facts today- I think I'll just write a few sentences about Computer Class.
Well, first of all, my dad is the teacher. 'It's a gift, and a curse.' He's pretty fun as teachers go- but it sucks whenever I need help. He is totally reluctant to help me at all; I know it is to avoid cries of favoritism, but come on! Can't he even answer my questions? Sigh... The class itself is cool- we're learning basic HTML. Right now we're taking a three day test on tables- he's having us create a page with a table that resembles a checkerboard. He claims that last year two students broke down in tears. Only he could be proud of that. Sigh...
Now for the quote I saw the other day on TV:
"Hats for bats. Keep bats warm. Gracias." - Major League
