My turn, I guess...

Postby Shinsei » Sun May 09, 2004 1:21 pm

Well, I figure if I'm gonna be spending a lot of time here, I suppose I should tell you more about myself, so here goes:

The Basics

I'm 17 (as of 09 May 04), though I'll be 18 in early June. I currently live in London, where I attend the American School in London (its actual title...very imaginative  ) I have been a christian my whole life, and I've loved anime for about 3 years now, give or take. I'm about 5'10", 150 lbs, red hair, blue eyes (as if anybody cares  )

Religious Stuff

My particular flava' of Christianity (so to speak) is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I will be attending BYU this august, and serving a two year mission when I turn 19.

Anime Stuff

I like lots of different kinds. My collection currently contains:
Escaflowne
Vandread
Love Hina
Rurouni Kenshin (season 1)
Grave of the Fireflies
Trigun
Di Gi Charat
Cowboy Bebop
Spirited Away
and most of my ready cash goes to expanding this library

Manga Stuff

I also like manga, though my collection is not so extensive:
Mars 1-15
Love Hina 1-14
Chobits 1-8
Wish 1 (didn't like it much, despite how much I normally like CLAMP)

the rest of my ready cash goes to expanding this collection

Other Stuff

Lesse, I like fantasy novels, virtually all kinds of music (except rap, most hip hop, and R&B), computer and video games (I have WAY to many to list), and webcomics. I am currently taking Japanese lessons, I used to do fencing and I want to do Kendo, and ... uh... I guess thats all I can think of. I'll add more when I think of it.

Perhaps this is why no one has replied to this thread for a whole day...Under normal circumstances, I would say more; but for now I will hold my tongue.

To be a little official, we have no beef with Mormons or anyone else here, although as in all things we expect everything to be conducted in a manner consistent with the specific values and mission of CAA.

Regardless, it's nice to meet you. :thumb:

Good to meet you.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

(The End of Education)

Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge
