It's about time I introduced myself...

Well, I've been around for a little while now, but just realized that I never actually introduced myself. In the words of Stephanie Tanner: "how rude!" :lol:

I'm a soon-to-be 27 year old Christian woman who was introduced to anime while on a mission trip in Japan. Well, technically, I watched Superbook as a kid, but didn't know until said missionary trip that it WAS anime...Started off with the works of Miyazaki - which I still adore, btw. Japan was a difficult experience, and for a while, I didn't want to see or be a part of anything that reminded me of it. But a few years later, I got over it enough that I dusted off my Ghibli movies, and started looking into more, hoping to find other anime that I liked as much, and with as little objectionable content. I stumbled across Fruits Basket - Funimation was streaming the first 3 eps dubbed, and I went out and bought the whole series that night, because I loved it so much and was dying to see what happens next - then moved on to Escaflowne and Rurouni Kenshin...and the rest is history! :) So, really, I became an anime fan at the ripe ole age of 23.

As far as non-anime introduction materials go, my real name is Meghann, but you can call me Wyntre, Wyntre Rose, or Rose, if you like. I will answer to Meghann or Meg as well. I grew up in a Christian home, went to public school, and attended a missionary college right out of high school, which is where I got my opportunity to go to Japan. I was also an exchange student in high school - I spent a year in Norway, and LOVED it!

At the moment, I work in Customer Service, am the "mom" of a bouncing baby tuxedo kitty named 'Xedo, because of his coloring, am taking voice lessons - I love to sing - and studying Japanese, since I got a pretty decent foundation for that language when I lived in Japan, but didn't learn it as well as I'd like. Anime and manga are some of the tools I'm using to expand my vocab and grammar - plus, they are just fun! :) I'm also pretty fluent in Norwegian, because of my year as an exchange student, and frequently read books in that language as well, to keep it fresh in my head.

Yes, about sixth months overdue... but Irasshaimase! and Velkomen! as well! (Or any of the other three spellings of 'Welcome' I've seen for Norwegian!)(I've studied it, and certain ancestors of mine spoke/speak it (grandparents and father) but I can't hold a conversation in it)

I've got a 1-n Meghan for a niece, so this doesn't look too unfamilar.

So... how do you pronounce the kitty's name exactly? Just curious.

And ErictheFred, my kitty's name is pronounced "Zee-doh." He's mostly black with white paws and a white line down his tummy. He looks like he's wearing a tuxedo, so we just shortened it to 'Xedo.

She did indeed and it was the same provenance as I recall.

That does seem to be the pattern. Anyone I ever knew whose name was spelled that exact way had a mom that pulled it from that story. :) My mom actually told me that until she saw Thorn Birds she'd never heard of the name Megan before, so she wasn't even aware there was a more "normal" spelling. I like the way my name is spelled though. Even if I never once had a teacher in school that could get it right...lol.

Steenajack - Wow, a favorite Miyazaki movie...that's a tough one. I think it would be a tie between Castle in the Sky and Nausicaa. Followed closely by Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and Omohide Poro Poro - I have no idea what the officially translated title for this would be, it hasn't been released stateside for some reason.

LOL...yeah, Bowie was creepy in that role. And someone needs to tell him that the only guys who can get away with wearing tights are ballet dancers...I loved the music he wrote for it, though. Especially the ballad that my avatar is lifted from.

Wasn't sure where i should post my introduction first so i decided here would do just fine ^^. I been a Christian my whole life raised by a loving mother and father. I have had my share of ups and downs and confusion but never stopped loving god for all the good things he has done in my life. I love to draw and watch anime along with playing video games and listening to music so far CAA has shown its community to be full of nice members and many faithful brothers and sisters in Christ.
