The Super Sentai Thread

I don't know if you've had a few Power Ranger threads in the past, but is anybody actually interested in the series where Saban and now Disney are getting their stock footage?
Sentai literally means "taskforce" in Japan, and basically follows the trend of 5 or more color coded super heroes, battling evil in giant robots. The Sentai series have been airing in Japan since 1975, when Goranger was launched. It wasn't until Haim Saban pitched the sentai seires "Dinosaur Taskforce Zyuranger (1992)" to American audiences that the Power Rangers were born. We missed 15 series that were, for the most part, very cool.
While the US showed the 10th anniversay Power Ranger Forever Red epsiode last year, Japan was celebrating sentai's 25th birthday, doing so with a movie "Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai", in which all 25 Red Rangers at the time make an apperance (see attachment).
So, might anybody be the least bit interested in Super Sentai?

Heh, I'm definately trying to collect the first two seasons of MMPR. Power Rangers wouldn't be cool again until later Space episodes.
Volt (and anyone who's interested), I just picked up the first episode of Dinosaur Taskforce Zyuranger subtitled. Anyone who has a dedicated connection (i don't care if it's 56k) and AIM is welcomed to ask me to send it. Anything to help ^^

Yes, I too watched the Power Rangers as a child. What always interested me was the cool robot toys. Unfortunately my parents would never buy them for me, but it was nice to look at them.
Some of those red rangers are pretty funny looking. Those scarves must be fearsome weapons?

I remember watching the Power Rangers long, long ago. The first was truly the best. They sorta just degressed badly after the first one-- MMPG.

Heh, I really wish I was able to watch Sentai when I was a child. Especially stuff like Liveman and Jetman. The first real sentai series I ever saw was Battle Fever J (1979). I tell you, you have to be a real fan of classic Japanese film to like that stuff.

Power Rangers? I thought that had disappeared because of bad ratings and just being generally sad a few years ago. Never the less I remember playing Power Rangers when I was but a wee lad...ah, the memories...

lol, the sentai genre. XD i watched a lot of sentai in my youth (heh. how long ago was that?). shows like Ultraman, Magmaman, Kamen Rider / Mask Rider Black, Shaider (my uber favorite), Bioman, and yeah, the undying Power Rangers.
good times. wouldn't miss an episode for the world.
