They've had an ad running on the TV at work for this for about a month now. I really hope that it is done in a satirical manner, because I can't imagine this being serious.

Donkey Kong r serious business.

But of course!

Amusingly enough, the critics on Rotton gave the movie a PERFECT score (but some movies like 300 were being whined about :/ Go fig :/) I wouldn't mind renting this^^ Been a while since I've seen a documentary.

*sighs* And here I am, a Nintendo fanboy, having no idea what this is. What is it anyways? XD

it's a documentary on two of the world's greatest Donkey Kong players. check out the link i posted above.

the movie, itself, seems refreshingly original and quite unpredictable. to be able to score so high on RottenTomatoes is quite something. the movie should be interesting...

I'm not sure what to think of this movie. The people who obtained records in all the original arcade classics are now faced with the reality that the world has evolved past caring. It could still be entertaining, but I'd enter with a significant amount of cynicism.

After looking up information, I have to agree with pseudonym. Possibly because I grew up in the video game era after arcades were long gone. And to me, it isn't that impressive of a game to boast about. It's just a number. I get more excited when I see someone doing a near impossible speed run or running great speeds or, well, something that takes more skill then ranking up numbers. I'm just not that interested.

Have you ever played Donkey Kong? That game is far more difficult than most games you play nowadays.

I have, and it is. However, I've played harder. Radiant Silvergun is one game that comes to my mind.

i don't think it's that big of a matter of how difficult the game is. rather, the title "Donkey Kong" is well-known classic that will probably attract a good deal of attention...the game got good ratings on RT; that means that the producers must have done SOMETHING to make it more interesting than you seem to think.

Well, to be honest I always follow the classic, "don't judge a book by its cover" philosophy. When will it be coming out on DVD?

I just saw The King Of Kong today. I was amazed. It has to be the most refreshingly good movie I've seen this year. This movie is NOT about just a number. It's about professional gaming, pure and simple. And yes, everyone, it actually IS interesting. Content-wise, it's on par with a PG movie but it got PG-13 because someone says a bad slang term in a sexual context (no it's not the f-word or the c-word). I think this movie's okay for everyone who's into the subject matter (like myself).

BTW Tenshi no Ai, it's not 100% anymore on RT. Some magazine called Time Out New York gave TKOK a 2/6 rating. So it's 98%. Still good.
