Does anyone know anything about this? It's a trailer for a film called La Quête de l'oiseau du temps which is based on a comic of the same name. Anyways, the trailer is here; it looks interesting.

Do we know if that is the style for the entire movie? If so, I'm immensely curious to learn why it is a mix of 2/3-D art as well as color and monochrome. Also, can anyone provide a translation for the various pieces of text?

I'm pretty sure that the trailer shows a of sketches/early CG models that will be cleaned up a lot in the final release. In other words, you're seeing a mix of finished and unfinished work.

That is certainly what it looked like, but I wanted to make sure because I am unused to seeing trailers of that type.

Some further information regarding the source comic is available on Wikipedia, though online translators (such as Google's tool, which I used) will invariably butcher the page:
