Stranger Than Fiction

Did anyone see this one? It came highly recommended by several friends from back home, so I went into it with a few preconceptions from these friends' taste in movies and my own opinion of Will Ferrell as an actor.

I thought it was one of the most inventive plots I had seen in contemporary film in a long time. The nature of the plot alone lent itself to some brilliant themes: life as real or fantasy, fatalism or the will, nihilism or purpose, the question of love, etc. As well, the acting was spot on. Ferrell did an incredible job as an IRS agent, Gyllenhal was great as his liberal love interest, Thompson (one of the most skilled actresses still around) was perfect as the crumbling author/narrator.

What did you guys think?

Oh yeah, I saw this! My boyfriend wanted to see it, so we took a chance on it. We both loved it! I think one of my favorite characters was the professor (was it Robert Deniro?); he cracked me up several times over. I was greatly impressed with all the graphics, too.

Yeah, this is by far one of the best movies I've ever seen, and one of the only ones that made me cry AND laugh. I can't wait to snag it on DVD.

I totally agree. It was a great movie and a very original idea! Normally I don't like Will Ferrel movies, but this on was excellent.

A friend of mine gave it rave reviews, and I've been wanting to see it since I saw the preview!

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I think the role was played by Dustin Hoffman.

Or Charles Dickens.

Oh, I think you're right. I couldn't for the life of me remember his name. But yeah, him. I liked him.

I really want to see this. I haven't had the time (or money, haha) just yet, but eventually, I'll definitely watch it! :)

Everybody always goes to see movies without me, so I'll probably end up being the only one of the group who hasn't seen this, even though I really freaking want to...;_; I usually hate Will Ferrell but I've heard so much good about this movie...

I really enjoyed this movie! It had a great sense of style, a sharp sense of humor and some real drama towards the end. I was surprised that I actually ended up rooting for Will Farrell and Maggie Gyllenhal to get together. It's been forever since I've seen some actual onscreen chemistry O_o

Heh, the anarchists are organizing ^^ The only thing that slightly disconcerted me was the faint traces of The Truman Show throughout.

I've seen this movie twice all ready. I LOVE it. XD It's probably one of my favorite movies, particularly since I'm a writer. I loved Emma Thompson as Kay--she was hilarious, and so...disturbed. XD All the characters were brilliant, really.

It's hard to find *anything* wrong with the movie (well, the content, although it's really clean for a PG-13 movie). Everything is just done so perfectly. I hope this gets some awards.

There are tons of movies that came out this year that I have not seen.

Like Casino Royale, The Prestige, Stranger than Fiction, The Departed, Fearless, and Flags of our Fathers.
