Ok, so maybe not all cartoons, but have you noticed that cartoons you enjoyed as a kid has a another level of enjoyment to you as you grow older?

I don't know why, but things I didn't laugh at as a kid, I find funny, now that I'm older.

Yeah, very much so. This is how you know that the writers/producers/whatever succeeded in making a movie or show that appeals to both children and adults.

I get way more enjoyment out of cartoons now. When I'm home over breaks, I'll camp out in our basement and watch our old VHS cartoons. Drives my parents nuts, they keep asking when I'll grow out of it, which if I have my way, will be never.

I love seeing the different levels of humor, especially when they throw things in that no child will get.

For the most part, no. Standard six-minute cartoons bore me now, and some anime I enjoyed when younger irritate me to no end.

However, I have enjoyed Calvin and Hobbes again upon rereading. Some of them I appreciate much more now that I am older, others are merely amusing enough to be worth reading again.

In some cases, yes (like Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and Freakazoid), and in other cases it seems that way until you go back and watch them, only to discover they were actually horrible. =p

I thought we were speaking of cartoons, though yes, Calvin and Hobbes still stands as a good 'timeless' series.

I must say, I'm much more impressed by Batman TAS now that I've gone back and watched it after about 5 or so years. You understand what's going on a lot more, and (in some cartoons cases, not B:TAS) you understand that jokes better.

I lumped it in with cartoons because comics are also something typically viewed as childish and a pasttime that many adults abandon.

ahh yes. calvin and hobbes. a classic right there. i know, i shouldn't be saying much since i'm still sorta considered a kid but oh well.

I think it's neat when I revist childhood favorite movies. Not just animation. Like when I rewatched the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, I thought it was cool cause I loved the turtles when I was little, but didn't like the first one very much and thought the second was better. With rewatching I was like "whoa! Never realized that THIS was what the first movie was about!" (guess I never paid close attention^^) and the second one wasn't as good, but I just loved the goofy characters more in that one.

With movies like All Dogs Go to Heaven, didn't get the story in it either really, but when I was older and undestood things better.

With the laughing thing, it's werid cause when I was a kid, I loved cartoon comedies, but hardly ever laughed out loud. More just watched with a straight face. Then again, I always watched TV by myself, and since laughing's contagious, hardly ever did? Nowadays I geuss I still do that a bit^^ Just laugh more though when I'm on my own.

As a matter of fact I do find animation wheter cartoons or anime more enjoyable now then when I was younger.Mainly because I have stopped worrying about being criticized for watching kid stuff.
As far as cartoons from the past go,I really do miss some of the older classics
like Archie and Josie And The Pussycats and Heckle And Jeckle and Huckleberry
Hound etc.They always had a great sense of fun and humor to them that I enjoyed when I was growing up.

Transformers for me. I actually didn't acre for it when I watched re-runs. My thoughts of the show were as follows "That's stupid a car turning into a robot! They're not Ninjas and They're not Turtles! I don't care!"

Now: "Oh snap! You think it would be a car but...but...it's a 'robot in disguise!'"

I think the Transformer owe thier longevity to this simple line "Autobots wage thier battle to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons" In every Transformers show you watch that is the main theme...people like consistency.
