Stealing the idea of scariest books. What movies have scared you the most

I remember when I was a kid they once showed this film based on Edgar Allen Poe stories in school and one scene was a nightmare where one of the characters dreamt that two other characters that were dead came back and haunted him and were tossing his head around like a ball.That gave me the chills for quite awhile.
Then another one would have to have been one of the first times that I ever saw
the 1950s version of A Christmas Carol on tv.

Recently....as far as scary goes. I would say Hostel. (nasty content btw) It was just very brutal and actually pretty scary to think about.

i don't watch scary movies because i don't really enjoy being scared. however, if you insist, then the scariest movie i've ever seen is...(prepare yourself) indiana jones and the temple of doom. yeah. pretty pathetic huh?

The Grudge 2 (and I just saw the trailer...EEESH!) I don't watch horror mainly because I don't wish to have a spirit of fear.

I would have to say that my recent scare was ....Wes Cravins New Nightmare never thought i get creeped out by a Freddy Movie. Mostly because I always joked around about them. Also Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and the actual TCM (2004 version)

Bram Stoker's Dracula not because of the content but because it is such a bad
movie that even thinking about it is scary!

Parts of Ju-On really scared me. Okay, so...mostly just the weird noises and one scene with a distorted image on a TV screen.

Another recent example is The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Demonic possession movies creep me out because that kind of thing has happened before in real life.

But the movie that scared me the most as a kid was Poltergeist. @_@ I still think parts of it are pretty creepy. Stupid clown doll.

And the scariest movie that I've seen is the original version of...

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.
It has such a chiling concept...

The new saw movie. I have never seen the trilogy nor do I ever plan to! *shudders at the comments friends made about the movies* Life and death games you pretty much can't win at. Doesn't appeal to me...

Lots of people say Tale of Two Sisters is pretty scary. It's kind of widely available in the US now.

Most "scary" movies I dont really find scary. Its usually a weird movie thats not intended to be scary but is kind of creepy and when its off to bed, you have all these creepy images in you mind and cant sleep very well

I'd have to say Arnold Schwarzeneggers "End of Days" was the scariest movie I've seen. This was quite a few years ago so I don't know how I'd react to it now but that had me freaked out all night... and it was supposed to be just an action movie -_-... It was about the devil coming to earth to have make love to this woman who was supposed to have his son who would become the anti-christ... and Arnold of course had to protect her.

Jacobs Ladder was another creepy one I shouldn't have watched so late at night

I still like that movie though

The scariest movies I've seen would be Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl (not so scary, though), War of the Worlds, and MAYBE LOTR. I don't watch scary movies much.

Yes the shinning is a very good movie. Theres a little bit of content issues though so be warned. There is alot of violence and nudity.

Another good horror (which has surprisingly good morals and depictions of christianity) is Bless The Child.
