This is turning out to be a great series.
The basic premise is that wars and other political disputes throughout the
Galaxy are settled by a race called the Race of Oban. The rules are simply
Worlds that enter can use any type of vehicle for the race they choose, they also can do anything they want to beat their opponent as long as they do not kill them.Killing your opponent is the only infraction of the rules.
Basically anything else goes.
The three main characters are:
Eva Wei aka Molly:Daugther of Don Wei,has paternal issues since her father hasn't visited her in years at her bordering school.Ran away when
she turned 15 to find him and stowed away when he took his team to the planet where the first prelims for the race are held.Considers herself a hotshot pilot and mechanic.

Don Wei:Eva's dad.Doesn't like female pilots.(Flashback explains both why and also why he apparently dumped Eva off and hasn't seen her in years.)
Basically Gendo Ikari without the beard but with skunk like hair. Can be harsh and demanding boss, but also fair.Gets on Molly's case without knowing she's his daugther.

Nick:The original pilot for the Earth Team. After getting injured in the first race Molly volunteered to take his place, but had to do it sneakily.Nick likes
Molly and calls her Mouse. At one point he even tells her that when he started Don Wei didn't like him hanging around either.

I had heard of this show a while before it came out. I also saw some trailers. Good to know that it is good.

Yep.I think Toon Disney gets overlooked from time to time because Cartoon Network is the 800 pound gorilla when it comes to cartoons and anime series.

I changed the channel in time to see that they switched to the original ending theme song when they ran it yesterday.

Good Show,Too bad the English Voice Actors Suck. Spider Riders{the newest anime on kids wb}Doesn't Have Good Dub Voices Either. Let Us Hope And Pray That This is Not The Future For Anime Dubbing.

Oban Star Racers is,I think,a combined French and Japanese production.Yoko Kanno was responsible(from what I read)for the original theme but then Toon Disney or whoever was in charge opted for a more Rock styled opening for the
American version.
btw:I think if you look at the end credits 'Molly' is voiced by the same VA who does
Hokadishu aka The Infant(Naraku's latest and most evil incarnation)on Inuyasha.

I know it's been awhile since someone posted here, but...

I first saw this show late last night on Disney, and I really liked it! It makes me sad that I missed earlier episodes :( But I really enjoy this show.

I couldn't remember his name.
Any way the plot is starting to thicken even more now.Though I wonder when
Don Wei is gonna find out that Molly is his daugther Eva.

I know this is an old thread, but neither Oban Star-Racers nor Spider Riders are true anime.

Oban is mostly French with a little help from a Japanese studio, and Spider Riders is mostly Canadian with a little help from a Japanese studio.

This is why I put it in the General Entertainment section instead of the anime section.
