The news today mergers
Disney and Pixar Animation
WB Network and UPN to be CW (I think) It also means that one of my cable channels will pickup another network to fill that.
Good or bad?

Yes the new combined UPN and WB will be called CW,it was on the news yesterday.
As far as it being good or bad,I don't know.Depends on the programming that they have on.
Spokane dropped UPN from the line up as of January 1 because the station manager for the then UPN affliate declared that the content was not what most viewers in Eastern Washington wanted.Instead what was the UPN station is now a member of the RTN(Retro Tv Network). It shows older shows like Magnum PI and
The Rockford Files.
Prediction:Look for more smaller networks like RTN to arise as more and more people start longing for the older shows and get disgusted with the current content of network tv.

Personally, I think this will be good because both stations have a SMALL number of good shows, and put together, they should have an ok lineup. And this does bring more room for smaller networks, too.

Good or bad depends on your tastes. It's most likely that the UPN shows will be the ones dropped with a few exceptions. If your a big UPN fan, then WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU? Find a Nelson box or something because no one who has one is watching.

Actually, UPN hasn't done too shabby the last couple years. It's been running neck and neck with the WB and has actually been beating it this year. Largely thanks to the ratings declines of WB shows that have stood out in the past like Smallville and 7th Heaven, and the surge of UPN shows like America's Next Top Model and Everybody Hates Chris.

Does that mean I might actually get it on the Satalite box, I haven't had UPN or WB for over a year. Dish doesn't carry locals here and reception is just plan bad......

It may be good maybe not

UPN was created solely for the purpose of carrying Star Trek. That was it's main emphasis and once Enterprise ended they had to change course because they no longer had their prime reason for being.

I wonder what the future of WWE SmackDown! will be once the two networks merge?

I think it will be one of the shows they will save for the new network since it's uberpopular with a certain demographic. The question is will a show like Veronica Mars that everyone has been talking about make it?

Both WWE Smackdown and Veronica Mars were mentioned in the press release as a part of the network, so most fans of the shows seem to have taken it that the shows will be on the network next season. Of course a lot can happen between now and then (for one thing, the status of the WWE's contract with UPN was still up in the air after this season and to my knowledge there was no news that it had been renewed). But it looks very likely that both will be back.

Will one single network be able to survive where the two couldn't?
