Hey, Have any of you seen the cartoon Avatar: the Last Airbender?
What do you think of it. I've missed a lot of episodes, but the ones I have seen have been really awesome.
It's all about the four elements and the 4 different races or tribes or something that control the different elements. Then, of course there is an Avatar, who keeps every thing in balance or something.
I'll try to attach a picture I found showing some of the characters.

AVatar is one of my favorites. They pulled of the "anime look" better than Cartoonnetwork, methinks. The animation is really cool.

I agree. The anime look was what caught my eyes first. It's also an interesting story.

By acsident i found out that they had a marathon all day today, so i finally sat down and watched the series. I personally dont see what the big deal about if a show has an anime styleing to it or not, if your an animation or art fan it wouldn't really matter. The animation is very fluid and the story is excellent, Also they drew from the more fluid motions of kung-fu for their fighting wich mixed with the bender powers made for some very cool effects. Probably one of the best new shows i've seen in a while.

Wow, glad I didn't make a thread about this yet.
I just finished the nine hour marathon, and I agree with what Lightbringer said on it.
There were a couple of spots on it that seemed odd or "too fast" in a way, but overall it's quite good. And I love the Bender fights, especially the ones where Ang (that right?) fights his old friend from the Earth Nation and Tekara against the Master Waterbender in the North lands. Sweet awesomeness was that a cool battle.
Of course, the one wher Ang and the "Blue Spirit" ( ;D ) work together was freakin' ingenious.
BTW, Zuko's uncle is a perv. Don't believe me? Watch the "Bato of the Watertribe" episode and you'll understand.

Then you must have missed ALOT. There were 18 eps. shown, and at least half of them involved Earth Benders.

Ahh finally a thread on this show!! I looove Avatar and I've been following it from the very first episode premiere.
I'm so excited for the last episode of this season. I wonder if they'll show Zuko's sister, Azula? If not we'll have to wait all the way til the next season (which I think airs in spring) to see her .__. I've heard she's very evil XD; Anyhow, all my money goes to the fact that eventually Zuko will be joining up with Aang and co. They build up his character too much for it to be any other way. Normal American shows don't make their villians sympathetic. Add in the times when he's virtuous and the time at the end of the Blue Spirit episode, and it all points to that end.
I also think that Iroh will die, because I can't see him tagging along with Aang and co. but I can't see him betraying Zuko either. Plus, Iroh's death would really spur Zuko to betray the fire nation.
i saw the commercial to the end of the water chapter and i think they forgot to draw some of zuko's new scars he got in the explosion of his ship.
maybe they healed by the time they got to the Northern water tribe? Not all his injuries looked like burns or scars. Some looks like bruises and cuts.

one of the biggest reasons i love avatar is that unlike american villians japanese villians have depthand zuko has depth. and in avatar zuko has a bigger reason to capturing aang than being powerful. and iroh dying would not be horrible with him bein a pervert. but there is no way he will betray zuko i agree. even willing to join comander zao to help zuko shows he is loyal and cares about zuko.
i should say burns instead of scars. cept in another shot zuko has burns and cuts and scratches again.
but zuko already has "betrayed" the fire nation. thats the reason he was banished until he has captured aang. plus he also betrayed them in the blue spirit episode.
in the blue spirit episode i think aang asking zuko if the had meet each other one hundred years if they could have been friends since his best friend was a fire bender foreshadows them becoming allies

Ironically, Avatar is an American show, therefore Zuko is an American villain.
And wait, who says American villains have no depth? You obviously haven't read any comics lately. Tons of DC and Marvel villains have a wealth of depth that I'd venture to say most Japanese villains couldn't touch.

Considering Zuko is American, you can't say that anymore... Not that it really matters...
This is partly why I love this show, fufufu XD.

not to be rude but can you please tell me some examples of depth
im really a strictly manga girl. yes he is an american villian BUT im comparing him to some other american villians.

Avatar is one of those rare shows that are actually worth watching. The plot is great and the art is excellent. Much better than the usual for Nick.
I haven't seen very many episodes, but am waiting for it to come out on DVD.

The one thing about the show is trying to figure out who the voice actors are.
One night there was George Takei and maybe Pat Morita (God Rest His Soul) . I am sure they use Japanese voice actors for alot of characters voices.
