Daniel Craig will be James Bond in Casino Royale.

I am a huge Bond fan so this is pretty exciting for me. I haven't seen Craig in anything other than Road to Perdition. But I've heard Layer Cake was pretty good so I'm going to rent that. But heck Lazenby was even more unknown than Craig is now and he did a great job. This could deffinetly be very similar to On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Darker, with deep characters and plot, and less gadgets. Oh yeah and Martin Campbell who did Goldeneye is directing it so that's a big plus. Now I gotta go find the book.:)

Nice, hopefully the plot this time will be a lot better. I never saw the last one, after seeing how horrible the one with the reactor was (whichever one that was).

"Watch out, the primary coolant might explode!"

Oh yes, I can't count how many times water has exploded. MORONS.

Anyway, back on topic, hopefully this movie will redeem the Bond movies.

Hey! I liked Die Another Day! then again, I liked catwoman too...ah, well...

Seriously, though, I hadn't even heard about this! James Bond rocks! Think I've seen every one of the movies. hmm...I wonder if this guy can fill Bond's shoes...

Quentin Tarantino wanted to direct this movie, but dropped out after the producers dropped Brosnan. I would have liked to see it just for the sake of curiosity.

Lazenby doesn't count.Connery is the only true Bond!

Agreed! Sean Connery was the best. ^^ The definition of coolness!

I was pulling for Clive Owen, so I'm reserving comment on Daniel Craig. He *was* good in Road to Perdition, but that's not really a Bond role.

There is no true Bond. It gets really old debating the Connery thing. James Bond is not limited to one guy playing the character, James Bond is forever. And Lazenby was a great Bond he was the first Bond to actually act. Connery didn't act, Moore didn't act they were stars not actors, back then it was a different time. It was about the character fitting them not them acting for the character. Lazenby acted, Dalton acted, and Brosnan acted. OHMSS was the only Bond that stayed true to the original Fleming. Connery is the best Bond on the screen overall but the Bond elitists really need to get over it.

Die Another Day was...ok. It was pretty cliche I mean that was the third satelite laser weapon in a Bond movie. And once more it used diamonds, can you say Diamonds Are Forever? But Halley Barry was great and so was that other chick, and of course John Cleese was a good succesor to Desmend Lleywn as Q. And the parts in the Carribean were cool, very Fleming.

How many James Bond's played a "Bond" role before playing Bond?:P I know you mean charismatic, cool, collected, ruthless, that type of thing but none of them had a role quite like that before playing Bond so it really doesn't have any bearing on whether Craig will do good or bad.

Wow... somebody else who likes Lazenby?

He was great and actually, of all the movies, this one is the ONLY one to come anywhere close to the book.

Wow. So they finally have a new Bond. My dad brought my sister and me up watching Bond movies, so I'm a pretty big fan.

*snorts* From that list, I'm glad Craig was chosen, some of those guys may be good actors, but would be somehow wrong as Bond, IMO. It'll be interesting seeing a tough guy Bond, after Brosnan .

Brosnan was on a TV detective show "Remington Steele" before playing Bond, if that's close to playing a "Bond" type role... *shrugs*

I like all the Bond actors some better than others but all of them brought something to making James Bond the icon he is. Yeah some people hate OHMSS it's probably the most underated Bond movie. It's too bad things fell through during that time with Lazenby, I mean by the time the movie came out he and the studio had decided he wasn't going to be doing another one.

soul alive pointed out that Brosnan played Remington Steele, and Moore was already well known as the Saint. Dalton also had a significant acting track record. Connery and Lazenby were the only true "nobodies" when they came into the role.

If I remember right, they went with Connery because Moore couldn't get out of his contract (Similar to Dalton/Brosnan). If the movies followed the books closely, I could see Connery playing the part well though

I don't know, a blond James Bond. I'm not sure I like the idea.

Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan were my favorite Bonds, however Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton weren't too bad. I have yet to see OHMSS, and I'm kind sad to see Brosnan go, although he did look a bit old in the last one.

I agree with Kaemmerite on the whole tech thing. Like the Man with the Golden Gun. Pretty darn complicated and dangerous for a solar-power plant. Or the 18-wheeler that pops a wheelie in License to Kill. Or the nuclear material they handle without protection in The World is not Enough.

As for the last one, I agree it was a bit over the top compared to Goldeneye and The World is not Enough but at least there was a good car chase. The Vanquish and XKR were quite the leading ladies :brow:

Did anyone see Graig's last movie role? It was in Layercake and I thougth he did an awsome job.

I think they want a more darker bond, more substance than style...

Not to change the subject but, is Remington Steele any good? I've been thinking about picking it up. Thanks!

Remington Steele is not great TV, but it's not terrible. I enjoyed it. Pick it up used or on special, but if you like light TV action, it's probably your bag.

Yeah, I'll probably try and get it off Ebay for $25.00.
I like older TV shows; Stuff like M*A*S*H, Cheers, Flintstones, Andy Griffith Show ect.
And since I don't have time to watch every new show that comes back on TV, I'm picking up the older ones.

And just to get back on subject, David Craig looks to be a pretty good James Bond. Although Sean will always be king!
